They have been shut out 3 times at home all season, including tonight. So all it would take for this to be wrong is the Habs not scoring in the first 4 times.
I would love to see the stats. One of the only games I’ve seen them win after not scoring in the first period was the big comeback against Boston. They need the crowd behind them, and the crowd grows restless after not scoring in the first and the Habs lose their energy because they feed off the crowd. Start paying attention to the atmosphere in the arena compared to the players energy, it’s actually pretty wild
It was a game that they got a deflection in and we didn’t. Everyone should of known that Buffalo and especially Miller would have a good game after blowing a late lead against Nashville their last outing.
I know I’ll get a lot of thumbs down for this one, but Gomer played a good game, would of been nice if someone could of potted one of his many good setups tonight.
Many good setups? Ill give him the one on Wisniewski at the end, but as far as Im concerned, throwing the puck blindly out in front of the net does not count as a good setup.
I knew I’d see this tonight. What, he made one pass that lead to a shot and tried to score from behind the goal line and the puck stopped in the crease, means a good game? This guy has the worst nose for the net, he skates towards open ice and people think he’s a phenomenal skater. I don’t get it.
Gomez was a large part of our few PP opportunities being ineffective
enqvist played about 5 min but looked dead tired..no jump…gomez played over 21 minutes…this is the type of game that shows that we still have too many forwards that are not goal scorers..
Gomez playing over 21 minutes is probably the majority of issues. He takes up too much time that other centers can take and probably get some energy on the ice and consequently gain some momentum. Gomez has no idea, it seems these days, what to do with the puck once he gets in the offensive zone.
They’re not going to pound snot or anything else Thursday. Too many injuries and too many MIAs to risk anything as brain-dead as a slug fest. Win…that’s the objective and that’s the only revenge they need right now. The next bit of revenge comes when we knock them out of the playoffs.
You better hope the habs don’t run up the score unless you want to see another slimeball maneuver from the bruins.
What’s the over-under on the bruins injuring a hab on thursday night?
Its just so damn frustrating to have this happen to them. The top teams should be winning these games. Habs had nothing tonight…how do you explain it.? They knew what they could have accomplished with a victory of their own coupled by a Bruins loss.
Habs didn;t play like that. Bruins, Philly, Rangers , Caps all playing hard.Habs flat.Damn.
Are you referring the Habs as a top team? The might be with everyone in the lineup but with 9 players out you can’t seriously call them a top team. They have a top goalie, a top rookie D and that’s about it.
Message to Gomez and Cammy watch the film on Crosby watch how hard he working on handling the puck so he can make a GD PASS. 12 million between the two of them and niether can pass better than a peewee player.
That’s crap. Whatever Gomez’s problems might be his passing isn’t part of it. He laid on at least half a dozen beauties — goals on a plate — tonight alone.
I get the point, but how is he to blame for the excellent work setting up (just to name two tonight) Wiz & Gionta? Those two alone were gold — credit where credit is due, no?
Haha about the thumbs up and thumbs down: the thumbs downs outnumber the thumbs ups like 2-1. Basically, everyone here hates everything everyone else says!
I don’t know what your smoking Gomez threw wild passes out all night and couldn’t make apass up ice. Cammy was worst and as a so called small skill team passing has to be the tops. This has been going on since JM has been coach he needs to take yhem out and make them pass till they drop.
I see some ppl blaming AK46 on that play at the end of the game, but if you watch the puck was bouncing and those pucks are extremely hard to handle. It was his intention to shoot it right back in, but he could not settle it down, it happens.
Overall it was not a bad game, but not a great game. We did not have enough traffic in front of Miller and he saw everything.
On to Boston. Please let us get some players back, this is absolutely ridicoulous our injuries right now.
C;mon LL you really think Darche and Halpen is going to produce victories? If by future you’re talking next year I agree but don’t expect Max to be back at all this year. Pleks make a big difference for sure but seriously this team still lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that will bring them over the top and turn them into a true contender
Darche and Halpern have scored timely goals and are unafraid to hang around the opponents’ net. Every bit helps when you have no superstar offense. Pleks is a difference maker. I hope Max doesn’t come back this year as the experts say concussion sufferers need to stay away for at least 6 months “if” they are symptom free or it should go to 1 year if symptomatic.
But yes our veterans aren’t cutting it. All our team needed tonight was 1 bloody goal. But considering, they are doing well overall.
So when I hit “refresh”, it doesn’t automatically load the newest comments? Weird. For a while there I was hitting “refresh” and seeing nothing new and thinking “dead night!”
cheer up guys. the sabres were probably super bummed for blowing a 3-1 lead with 3 minutes left against nashville last game, and give up the extra point in OT. you had to expect some urgency in their game. they never gave up on plays. played such frustrating hockey, broke up passes, clogged the neutral zone, contained us.
How is that not a pentlty he stuck his stick between Subbans legs and trips him. He makes calls against the Habs and nothing against Buffalo. This goes on and on and on the NHL is just the WWF where the refs help decide the winner. Hey JM this is when you should have thrown sticks on the ice. Torarella would have gone nuts and you know what, check the Rangers record. No way they have played 71 games and only have 19 games where they have more PP than the other team. Why do you call them out ask Scotty Bowman he’ll tell you. If you don’t you’ll get walked over game after game after game just like the Habs do.
sigh..c’est la vie
sure sucks to get shut out like that
from what i saw ak46 was the best forward out there, except for that last paly at the end.
gomez, meh same old.. skate in and do nothing
gionta, cammy played?
DD tried…
cant but any power plays against the sabres

Welp, before the Timos and observers of the world emerge from under their internet bridges…I thought this was a ‘good’ loss. Our defense was mostly airtight, aside from one deflection, and I liked the Habs’ pushback in the 3rd. They’ll be HUNGRY on Thursday. Let’s do it boys.
That Gerbe kid who looks like a garden gnome out there, really showed how much he wanted this game.
We always have HUGE problems against a strong goalie.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Why? They’re already pretty much home and cooled with a playoff spot. The rest of the season is simply jockeying for position and trying to stay, (rather get) healthy
I gave it a thumbs up to make you feel better. Thing is, I don’t agree about the Thursday game. It’s no more important than any other game now. A win would be nice and help set the tone but the last couple of weeks might be a good time to sit Cammy and Gomez.
Why do I get the feeling that we are not going to win this one.Time running out on us. I cannot figure out how we can play a teriffic game one night & not another.
All right, I’ve had it with Cammalleri. If he’s injured, the staff should tell him to take some time off because right now, his play is absolutely atrocious.
“It’s a lot to ask of a rookie, but Eller has to make things happen”
Funny you mentioned that ’cause I got to thinking he just might be gassed from an NHL schedule about this point in the year. What does a typical Euro-League do? .. 40 or so games?

The torch be yours to hold it high!

Gerbe…come on.
They better be saving it for pounding the snot outta the Bruins in Beantown, or heads are gonna roll.
EDIT: not pounding the snot out of them in the physical sense, in the “lets score 8 goals” sense
No excuse for letting Price do all the hard work. Certainly not 60 min of quality hockey from the Habs.
Habs pounding the snot out of the Bruins. Not likely. Hopefully they can out score them

5-2 in pp…leafs have had 5 pp after 2…
You know this site will one day merge with AlsInsideOut and become SportsInsideOut.
Can’t win if ya don’t score, only compete for 15 minutes. If Price hadn’t been sharp it coulda been 3 or 4-0.
The Hockey’s played reactionary. They let the Sabres dictate the game. They seemed tired.
Moving on to Boston… That should be interesting but i gotta bad feeling about that one.
This sets up an anticlimactic night on thursay.

oops. Sorry Trana
Plex is the real captain of this team.
Bet you Subb’s wears an “A” next year.
This team misses Tomas. Especially when he is 100%.
The stupid Rangers are only 3 points behind us now…that sucks…none of the Habs showed up to play tonight but Price
Credit the sabres. They were very good tonight.
we tried. goodnight fellow Hab fans. Bruins on Thursday.
We’ve been shutout at home quite a few times this season. Where do we stand relative to the league in this category?
Why JM has them open the first 40 defensively is beyond me … it just sets up too much pressure and obviously Carey can’t stop everything.
That Minny game wasn’t coached by Martin that’s for sure and the Habs lose another shot to get that elusive (3) seed.

Who gave the people of HIO the thought that I gave a damn what others thought of my posts and opinions?
Wow, tough crowd, even with a smilie on the end of that post, you’re still 2 under par.
If you want to get upset, get upset over 2 losses to the oilers, 2 to the islanders and 3 to the loafs.
Sure glad that there is no way that the rangers can pass us in the standings. That would be bad.
Oh well, on to Boston. Likely that’s where their heads were anyways.

i dont want to wait for the playoffs to see if gomez can step it up, he’s a G. D. Loser.
AK gets a pass, Gomez does not. Another big game, another no show for Gomez, What a waste of space

I was SERIOUSLY considering throwing my laptop at the TV. What a horrible performance by the entire team except Price. Just disgusting.
Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing.I have to deal with a Sabres fan at work tomorrow
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Earlier today I said this in another thread:
“I would bet on Auld today”.
but not on price?
he was unreal all game…whats your beef?
I didn’t mean anything to Price. I was looking at when and where to play the goalies.
Off to a 8:1 victory for Auld; off to a 7-12 shots for Price. JM’s decision-making is always questionable.
That Gerbe kid who looks like a garden gnome out there, really showed how much he wanted this game.
We always have HUGE problems against a strong goalie.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
you mean guys like Thomas and Luongo?
I’m sorry, I did not see anything in my post about a choker and a flopper…… I SAID STRONG GOALIE’S. Ward, Miller, Lundqvist, etc, etc
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
3-1 vs NYR
3-1-2 vs BUF
3-0 CAR
and just to make you feel worse…
4-1 vs BOS
2-0 vs VAN
NEXT!
What can I say to that????????????
I can say I hope we end it 5-1 vs Boston…..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
As I said before, three rookie centres.
And a 4th line that was not trustworthy.
Nonetheless, you kind of expect more from Cammi, Gionta, Pouliot.
Cannot finish
Whatever, tweet me when the playoffs start!

Neither the Habs nor the Sabres will go far.
That non call on DD getting leveled is typical Ruff BS. What a load of crap. if the situation were reversed, GUARANTEED, Montreal gets penalized.
Habs absolutely need to win the next game.
Why? They’re already pretty much home and cooled with a playoff spot. The rest of the season is simply jockeying for position and trying to stay, (rather get) healthy
Home ice advantage is important to win the Cup. I’d like to see the Habs win the NE division. It’s a must win.
Everlasting1 is stalking me. Every post I make immediately gets a thumb down.
LOL,.. it’s me, just messin’ with yer head.
I gave it a thumbs up to make you feel better. Thing is, I don’t agree about the Thursday game. It’s no more important than any other game now. A win would be nice and help set the tone but the last couple of weeks might be a good time to sit Cammy and Gomez.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Someone call a proctologist to find AK46′s head after that play at the blueline!
Now down by 2 maybe we can score.
Tough luck but oh well, better luck thursday.
Bummer. Kudos to Buff for a solid game.
F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not put the GG and Cammy line out to finish. Use the kids.

True, but Gomez needs to look up the word “shoot” in the dictionary at this point.
I looked up errant pass on Wiki and there’s a picture of Gomez there.
Here we go; this is the game.

Buffalo, tonight, looks like the better team. No dumb third period penalties, clearing the puck & Miller looks perfect.
And that’s all she wrote. They lost a crucial one tonight.
Look what happens when they skate it in.

Sabres hockey is dull. A bit like the trap-era Devils, without the verve.
PK is cheating on every shift
is he the only one that understands that they are down by 1 late?
How long until a cheesy penalty to the Habs squashes most of the remaining time on the clock to take them out of comeback territory?
Pleks standing in the tunnel, big sigh, must be frustrating for him

It’s unbelievable how many small interference plays the Sabres are getting away with.
Just dont see us scoring tonight unless Buffalo gets a second goal first.
Sabre player put his hand on the puck in the blue paint on the Moen chance. Should have been a penalty shot.
cammys shot was going wide anyway
and that pass from behind the net just now? allll white sweaters

Hey, it’s worth a shot, right? Can’t say nobody said the ‘s’ word.
The superstition would be a Sabres fan on a Sabres blog saying the “S” word. Now you just guaranteed that the Habs wont score.
:’(
Sorry.
IT WAS MY FAULT GUYS, MY BAD
Where’s “Wario Mellieux” when we need him?
Seems the Habs always need that break-out goal to get going. Time’s running out.
