Welcome to Montreal, Brent Sopel

Canadiens defenceman Brent Sopel, acquired by trade Thursday from the Atlanta Thrashers, has fun during his first scrum with the Montreal media. The dozen or so media members made up a group of 10 or 11 more than he was used to seeing in Atlanta.

Off camera, Sopel said it’s nice to be back in Canada “where you can get Smarties.” Fans – and the media – are going to like this guy, a lot.

  1. Danno says:

Hey Brent, when you eat your smarties do you eat the red ones last?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  2. CanadienBoy says:

La rumeur du jour AK +Kristo for J P Domont and B Geoffrion on RDS blogs

  3. CanadienFanTrappedinNiagaraFallsNY says:

Hey, you can get Smarties in Western New York.

  4. HNS says:

Must be awesome to be wearing the Jersey, playing in front of the Mecca of hockey. Psyched for him. Definitely one of the missing pieces needed to make this team whole. Bon Chance tonight boys!!

  5. CanadienBoy says:

He is frostbite all right ,just don,t know about Dumont make 800000 more than AK ,17pts to AK 31 but use to be way better

  6. CanadienFanTrappedinNiagaraFallsNY says:

Probably no substance to rumors as usual, but I would like to move Kristo in any trade of substance that we do. He might be a great player someday who knows, but he’s already looking like trouble.

  7. CanadienFanTrappedinNiagaraFallsNY says:

Dumont is only under contract for one more year at 4 mil cap hit, but I would like to think those two would fetch more, maybe a draft pick in addition to what you stated.

  8. Mr. Biter says:

Posted a couple days ago that we needed to win the next 3 games vs. lower teams and it is the coach’s job to make sure the players don’t take anyone lightly. Well 1 down (bad) 2 to go. If we din’t win both games espically if the team is flat then JM’s time has come. I have defended him for 11/2 years but 2 more losses to teams with worse records the axe should fall.

  9. Bill says:

    He’s big, he’s bald, heLs STARTING …

  10. SLYDER says:

i never do any online shopping and all i have is that Gap subsidiary

at either rate…funny post…and im going to pull a peter griffen and believe this to be 100% true just based on entertainment value

  11. SuperYogurt says:

Not sure about that. I never browse automobile sites and I get Windsor Mazda ads.

  12. Bob_Sacamano says:

How does that analytic work? Since a couple of weeks ago I had “normal ads” and I haven´t changed anything. 95%+ of the time I use it for work, reading news and surfing sports sites. Not that I never…

  13. ZepFan2 says:

Ads? We don’t need no stinkin’ ads!

  14. CanadienFanTrappedinNiagaraFallsNY says:

I get ads to enroll in TESOL courses and to shop at Piperlime, a Gap, INC. subisidiary, both of which are related to sites I visit. I don’t think frequency matters as much as how much cookies are actually being stored by certain websites. Porn probably ‘inserts’ alot….

  15. kempie says:

Haha that’s funny. I see telcom and diaper ads. Nobody naked.

  16. Bob_Sacamano says:

Off topic: What kind of ads do you guys see on the right of this site? I am in Germany and for the last couple of weeks it has been mainly porn. It´s strange to see Boone´s face right under a naked teen…

  17. Hockey Socks says:

I get “Ontario: Yours to Discover, Winter family fun” ads. Not as fun as porn, I imagine.

  18. SmartDog says:

If it’s strange for you, imagine how the teen must feel!

  19. HalifaxHabs says:

haha, I hate to break it to you, but the ads have nothing to do with your physical location. They are based on analytics compiled by where your computer goes most often online. So if you’re seeing lots of porn ads, it’s because that computer, or IP address, spends lots of time surfing porn. If that’s someone else’s computer you are using, you might want to wash your hands!!!

  20. smiler2729 says:

All’s I get here in Ontario is a Global TV ad or a Windsor Mazda ad, stuff like that.

  21. sidhu says:

    Welcome, Brent!

Great job on the video, Stubbsy!

  22. smiler2729 says:

Welcome to the Heart and Soul of Hockey, Sopie.  Man, I already want this guy re-signed!

  23. Danno says:

Welome to Montreal #55! Hope you hoist the cup again this year as a Hab!

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  24. Ron says:

Awesome sounding guy, lots of class I think. Looking forward to seeing him work the zone.

  25. pierre lapuck says:

there is no link to the Sopel video in sight.  Using Firefox and have never had this problem before, any ideas?

  26. Danno says:

    Try this…

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  27. Hockey Socks says:

Seems like a good guy! All smiles.

  28. SmartDog says:

    My timing is getting weird.

Haven’t been online all day and boom!  First again.

I must be in sync with HIO.

  29. Dave Stubbs says:
