Big win folks! Now let’s put this series away already! Tonight game 7 my liver is taking another beating lol
The Bruins are lucky to be this far. I say destroy them in Game 7! No breaks, Just goals. On another note. The Center Position is skill. The technique is art. All Centers are taught the same way. The linesmen have to blow the whistle and drop the puck, that’s it, nothing more. The most skilled Center wins. It’s not cheating, it’s called the tricks of the trade. Drop the puck linesmen, just drop the freakin Puck! Go Habs Go

So ONE of the refs stands BEHIND the net and BEHIND the goalie and someone in front of the goalie shoots the puck at this goalie and puck hits the goalie and is clealy free in FRONT of the goalie BUT that ref BEHIND the net and BEHIND the goalie who has absolutely no view of whatever is happening IN FRONT of the goalie AND despite the fact that the OTHER ref is located somewhere on the other side of the goalie’s FACE – this BETTMAN ref has the power to blow the play dead claiming he can’t see the puck (SURPRISE! SURPRISE) because he himself wants to control the momentum of the game.
POKERSTARS – Bettman’s TV sponsor and partner in Poker gambling where Bettman wants his NHL players to mingle with those involved in bigtime Vegas gambling – POKERSTARS WEBSITE seized by FBI for illegal activities, money laundering, gambling, etc.
Check it out and think about it next time you watch the Bettman striped frauds at work.
Pokerstars.net – seized by the FBI – Do a google search on “Poker Stars/NHL”!
I cant say for sure but though they come from the same place -pokerstars.com and pokerstars.net are two different animals legally. The .com is for the money, the .net is for amusement purposes only and no money. I agree with your post however.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
If you saw Kerry Fraser’s take on it, he says that the ref has the responsibility to try to find the puck and not just say “I can’t see it” and blow the whistle. He was definite in that it was a bad call with the ref not making any effort from where he was in the corner.
He also agreed with the call on Lucic “definitely a major and game misconduct for that hit”.
Sometimes there are folks on our side.
I dont hold Fraser in high esteem, in fact I think whenever the NHL tried to provoke certain outcomes, he was their man.
Once one of the refs loses site of the puck he HAS to blow the whistle. That has ALWAYS been the rule, even back in the days of Sam Pollock and Scotty Bowman.
If I am the ref who blew the early whistle last night am I supposed to “assume” that maybe the puck skittled out the other side of Thomas? And what if the puck is under the goalie and BOTH refs lose site of the puck? How long should they wait? Until Lucic and Marchand crash into Price?????
Sometimes your conspiracy theories are a bit much….
Honestly, this shouldnt happen with 2 refs on the ice or else what is the point of having 2 in the first place.
Actually, according to long time ref Kerry Fraser, that is not true. The ref has a duty to try to find the puck, not just immediately blow the whistle as soon as it’s out of his sight. With 2 refs, and one ref watching from the other side, the ref behind the net doesn’t need to make the call that fast.
All that being said, I don’t think it’s part of any conspiracy, just a blown call.
Third period, especially, we didn’t play together in our own end. Everyone was playing their own game, running around trying to cover the puck. The problem with that is when we finally get posession, everyone’s out of position and it’s really difficult to break out, especially when Boston played really well below the goal line. So we end up flipping the puck, dumping it, or trying to skate it out from deep in our own end resulting in a turnover. The only real good news was that it was a lot harder for Boston to get a change as their bench was furthest from our defensive end (obviously)…I think they tended to stay out a bit longer due to the amount of possession time they had.
Bottom line, it’s the playoffs and it’s only about figuring out a way to win that one game and play another. But the third period reminded me of much of last season’s playoffs where we’d play for lengthy periods in our defensive end, break out finally and score…which eventually caught up to us.
It’s not a beauty contest or “correct hockey” but whatever it takes to win tonight and move on. Whatever it takes.
I think we deserved to win because we did what we had to do (i.e. score on the 5-on-3s) and they sort of self-destructed with their idiotic penalties. And Price was great.
I don’t know if we can count on all that in Game 7. We often moan about not getting the calls but this time we got most calls in our favor (except the Gionta goal but still the calls came out well in our favor). I don’t think we can count on so much luck next time. We’ll need to play better but we have played better in previous games and I think we can do so again. Main thing is we’re not too banged up–wonder how Spacek will hold up, ditto Gionta (gotta be tired). Can Wiz play? (Guess not; only 24 hrs more rest.) How’s Eller? etc etc.
A team that scores only when the other team is down 2 men is not the deserving winner. I dont care what anyone says this wasnt how hockey was meant to be played.
If we can’t score 5 on 5 we’re gonna be in big trouble anyway and won’t get far in these play-offs even if we pull off a win in Beantown tonight.
On the other hand, as long as we get a few 2 minute 5-3 PPs tonight we should be able to win this one 😛
And you do not deserve to use the term “we”
Your Site name says it all.
I guess that sums up what you know about Hockey then.
Because the Habs won, and they deserved it. I don’t care what a non-Habs fan thinks about it. That would mean I would care what a Bruins fan thinks about the game. 😉
PS – quite a childish position you took “I don’t care what anyone says…”, if you truly intend to have conversations with us here.
Of course hab fans are happy when the refs cant put their whistles away, its the only way the habs have a chance. It upsets me no matter if its nashville vs Anaheim since youre so concerned with my supposed bias.
tell that to boston – they r the ones who took the penalties – was “deserving” that we won due to their stupidity
I agree with that-Boston was stupid.
I was not impressed at all with Montreal’s 5 on 5 play, this team doesn’t seem to want to mount offensive pressure in that situation. In game 7, not much in the way of penalties are going to be called and that could pose a huge problem. I hope I’m wrong.
The defensive shell game is a good match vs. other defensive shell coaching. Two teams are leaning on their goaltenders in this series.
It’s a poor strategy vs. a team with serious, balanced firepower IMO. Sure, your goalie may write a layoff legend and anything can happen. But more often than not the hang-back mentality eventually manifests in the players’ concentration and effort levels, as if by black magic.
Well, we are going to keep three men back so as to avoid giving up the odd man rush….they are going to send everyone deep…the problem we had was we didn’t play positional hockey in our own end and you can see three and four people covering one or two. No one covering the points. We also chased the puck a lot instead of covering…which is a problem when you are looking for someone to pass to when trying to get out of your own end.
How I wish this was game 7… I don’t know if I can handle another MTL-BOS game… But I’m very proud of these guys; they held their own despite of being depleted and banged up.
Let’s get it done gents and bring on the Caps!
omg, here in vancouver, ppl are acting like they just won the STANLEY CUP…honking their cars like crazy. Guess this is wat 40 years of losing does to a fanbase…
I know it was round 1, but honestly this was one crazy series. They just beat the team that has had their number for 3 years in a row (incl. this year). Vancity deserves to celebrate.
Hopefully we pull it off tomorrow, i think will be a big win for us too. Who would have thought we good go toe to toe with bos without, markov, gorges, maxpac, plus the injury to DD and wiz. This habs team has heart like no other team.
You can look at it as they just beat the Stanley Cup Champs who have put them out the last 2 years in a row, or you can look it it as the President’s Cup winner just needed OT in game 7 to defeat an 8th place team who sneaked into the playoffs because Dallas lost to the lowly Minnesota Wild the last game of the regular season.
Not taking away from Chicago btw, and maybe this series will be a character builder for the Nucks.
so they made it into round 2, big f’cking deal …
I guess the nucks will now put up a “round 2″ banner in the Rogers Areana, eh?
The Hell with Vancouver. GO HABS
Det/SJ & Van/Nash are going to be two crazy series.
DET will take it, Babcock will have his team primed, if SJS can be taken to Six by the Kings, the Red Wings will sunder them. I’d say VAN over NSH because while NSH has the D, their limited offence is still a serious hindrance.
– I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Detroit will probably win because Howard may outplay the inconsistency of Niemi. As for Nashville, they scored a lot of goals against the Ducks and may be the team of destiny this playoff season..
Don’t know about NSH, when you have limited scoring talent (Like we did last year) it dries up sooner or later. DET I think their big name players are just better, Zetterberg and Datsyuk are just terrifying when they’re on, well ahead of the SJS guys and I’m confident Babcock can outcoach McCllelan.
If Zetterberg is out for longer than expected, I dont think that SJ will lose. This may be there year, no pressure on being the top team, Joe T finally scores a big goal. I was shocked on how close LA played them, but then again the same can be said about habs.
NSH has Rinne. He can steal the series. This guy better win the Vezina (since Carey is winning the hart ).
Zetterberg was close to being back for the PHX series and that one was over fast, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t back. End of the day, DET has the proven playoff warriors and the best coach in the NHL.
and the best two-way player in the league in Datsyuk. I like Det, but something tells me this is finally Sj or Van year for coming out of the west.
You know, every time I see Mike Milbury on TV, as a hockey analyst make me wonder the sanity of today’s media. I mean seriously, he was possibly the worst GM of all time, worse than Sather and even Houle.
Milbury is the understudy to Cherry.
Truth be told, it’s really MacLean who is the biggest A-hole on the show. He’s the Samsonov of the CBC hockey telecasts.
What a terrible turnover by Campoli. So close for the Hawks… so damn close. You can thank the Senators for the trade.
Canucks prove 3rd time is the charm, provided the 3rd time you face your opponent missing 1/3 of their SC core. Still, exorcised their demons perhaps, see what happens when they face the Predators.
This marks the first time in three years the President’s Trophy team got out of the first round of the playoffs.
I think we will somehow comeout on top in game 7 against bruins…then upset wash and then its philly for the third time, I hope 3rd time is a charm for us too! Philly has our number.
I don’t know about WSH this year. They’ve got a much better defensive setup and we’re going to get a freebie game off of Theodore this year. I look forward to the series because they’re a highly skilled team and Ovechkin has taken a step back from his nastier hits, it will be a good, honest competition with the squad that will be fun to watch.
While I agree with you, I am not sold on their goaltending and Price can steal a series. To be honest, any goalie after Thomas may be good for us, we could have buried a lot of chances if he didnt come up big for them.
Is there any minute chance that Jorges or Markov can comeback if we go deep?
Gorges and Markov are on the shelf and we shouldn’t expect them back, they’re not in game shape.
Let’s not forget that the Caps will have had plenty of rest by the time we take them on, provided we win tonight … They are not the same team we beat silly last season.
Super entertaining 3rd and OT, but I was really wanted the chokefest that is the Van/Chi rivalry to continue. The character building from going through something like this is massive for Vancouver, they’re going to be even more of a wrecking crew as the playoffs go on. Kinda sucks, only because I would hate to see a pest like Lapierre hoist a cup after being bounced from team to team.
Chris campoli gets to wear the goat horns for the hawks. A brutal giveaway under absolutely no forechecking pressure.
Is he available? We need someone to replace Hamerlik.
And Vancouver has just won the Stanley Cup.
Burrows, a player that the Habs can only dream about, scores the winner in overtime.
BTW, Higgins and Laps were solid for the the Nucks.
Burrows, the poor, poor man’s Claude Lemieux?
Exactly, Robert. Love him or hate him, Lemieux was an important piece of the puzzle. Darche is about as close as we can come.
Yes but Steve, Claude Lemieux scored 10 playoff goals as a rookie, Burrows doesn’t even have 10 playoff goals after tonight. He was arguably the best agitator of a generation because of his ability to elevate in the playoffs and has a Conn Smythe on his shelf. This is about the first time Burrows has ever come through in the playoffs for VAN. He ain’t no Claude Lemieux. Habs need the roleplayers to get things done, but Burrows is not in my Top 10 for guys I think would fit into roles for MTL.
Don’t see anyone on the horizon for us, which means we would have to trade or sign a guy. Which means we will have to over pay, big time.
I gotta hit the sack.
I know it’s not pretty but MTL has guys coming up to fill in those roles, but not as quickly as anyone wants. but honestly, the way the refs go after us sometimes would we really get away with a guy who dives so blatantly? We need hardnosed players to get to the Cup but not necessarily a diver. We need to add two more guys who can score goals (that’s with Patches coming back) and need Engqvist to be an NHLer, plus White to progress as a player.
Tremendous game. Happy for the Nucks.
Who the f’ck cares about the Nucks? They’ll go down sooner or later anyway … Can’t wait to see Loo’s crybaby face again after being knocked out … Besides, I don’t see anyone else but the Wings make it to the final from the West.
Canucks acting like they won the stanly cup!!!!!
Congrats to the Nucks.
This is what playoff hockey is all about.
So the shorthanded goal in the last 2 minutes will never be remembered now in the history books.
Still 2 canadian teams alive out of 2 that started the playoffs.
Good for Vancouver. Avoided disastrous choke job.
Oh well. The Casucks live to die another day.
Are you saying you wouldn’t like to see a Habs-Nucks Stanley Cup Final> Not that I’m jinxing our team.
Original Six Cup final, baby … Wings vs. Habs !!!
Wouldn’t it be something if Higgins or Lapierre scored the game winner?
In their own net would be freakin hilarious.
I can’t believe what’s happening to Vancouver.
Gotta love the playoffs.
No one deserves to go through what these guys are going through.
I wonder if we’re gonna see a Thornton-esque OT GWG celebration
There’s nothin’ like playoff hockey.
I’m guessin’ next goal wins.
Lou’s gonna have to focus. The champs are tired but circlin’.
Same reckless stupid play on their last 3 minutes powerplay as Habs did. Except in Vancouver’s case Blackhawks put it in the net. But no excuse for allowing those chances in that situation by either Vancouver or HAMRLCK.
We have Carey. Nuff said
Holy effin’ wow, baby!
Lou comes through in the clutch.
Jeebus, this shite is fun.
YEAH RIGHT! It was the goalie who recklessly turned over the puck not Burrows the genius.
Haaa, Lou with another choke, always lets one in at the end of important games
Not in the Olympics, unless I’m forgetting something.
I wrote, a bit earlier, that Toews production in this series has been greatly disappointing. No goals – till NOW! WOW!
Habs: Possessors of the league’s best PK–now, and for the foreseeable future
that goal broke his tie with gomez.
LOve it Robbie Louuuu is gonna choke in the OT…… Sorry about your luck Nucks hahahah
gonna be a late night
“Extremism only serves one’s selfish desires”
I think Kane is going to score early. That is one guy I cant stand…he is like a boston bruins, lol.
CANUCKS LET IT IN ON A PP
Toews is so clutch
Toews with the play of the year shorthanded???
wow! I have to feel for Luongo.
on his belly again!
In desperation. But really all these on Luongo? Where is the slack by Sedins, no where to be found since Boleyn came back in game 3.
then maybe you should give some credit to Boleyn & Co. Same as everyone saing how the Boston”s Krejci, Lucic and Horton line is sucking against the Habs instead of giving credit to the Plex line.
what a save? or a supreme miss by kessler. Nice move Higgins!
Great save by Crawford on Higgins and Kesler.
Luongo’s been good. But the Hawks are pressing.
He has but Crawford, geez that was Price-like!
I didn’t know he was a montreal native. I think im still rooting for Vancity as they have Higgins, Kesler, Edler…guys I like.
I’m not a big fan but Gomez was outstanding tonight. Involved, determined, not tentative. Along with Subban he was the best Hab on the ice. Nice win but I didn’t think they played their best game. Hopefully they will for tomorrow because they are a better team than the Bruins!
If they win tomorrow they play against Washington ><
Subban leads the NHL in ATOI at 29:08 as well as total ice time at 174:51 AND he was the first guy on the ice at an optional morning skate that only half the team went to…is this guy human?!!?
why wont the refs just drop the puck??? they have serious problems
If you follow this blog I feel vindicated that #22 should be playing D in this series. Paul Mara did and played well, I hope you all noticed. He is not the “only” reason why they won, but if he played in the series before this it would be over by now. Good move and about time JM.
If someone has to sit tomorrow spacek should be sitting instead of mara. That hamr/spacek duo was scary to watch.
Did JM really have a choice? Who else would replace Wisniewski?
I too thought Mara played great considering he had been a healthy scratch for quite some time. He brought a much needed physical aspect and made some smart plays to get the puck out of the zone.
Everyone is talking about how boston’s top line arent playing well but i really dont think that they are that bad. they are just being outmatched. our top line is amazing pleks ak and cammy rarely have a bad shift and they continue to get chance after chance. its crazy how well they are actually playing. ive noticed when boston’s top line get to face the Eller line you notice them a lot more. i dont think any one of boston’s lines could handle our top line. anyways it was good game by the habs , they had a lot of pressure and the handled it well, i think they will be a little more relaxed playing in boston! all we need is the first goal. i expect a win! its just how the story is told.
as for lucic, i think its safe to say in the eyes of ‘the league’ he served his time and wont need a suspension. it was only a blindside hit on a habs player by boston, he probably already served too much time as it is /sacasm
The NHL head orifice will view this as nothing more than the requisite cheap shot on a Habs player by one of little Campbell’s teammates.
ALWAYS Habs –
Booins will be rubbing Lucys hump tonite for sure.
Quite the big grin on Gio! Love it! Good luck in Game 7 boys!
GO HABS GO!!!
