Video: Habs practice for Heritage Classic

Canadiens defenceman James Wisniewski arrives for practice with a wicked shiner, plenty of stitches and a jolly Habs pom-pom’d tuque for Saturday’s Heritage Classic practice at McMahon Stadium.

The Canadiens held a practice in the very, very cold air of Calgary’s McMahon Stadium at 11:30 local time today, getting their first look at the rink that will play host to the Heritage Classic vs. the Calgary Flames.

First order of business was a team photo, then players changed into practice jerseys and skated briskly through a workout. The Flames would follow a couple of hours later.

Thirteen 1080p high-definition videos in all here; make sure you wait for them to load to get the best results.

They cover the Canadiens’ arrival – watch for the black-and-blue, stitched face of James Wisniewski at the end of the line, the Wiz having been hit in the face by a puck Thursday in Edmonton – through post-practice interviews with a number of players.

Wisniewski wore a cage for practice. A plastic shield would have fogged up in a few seconds in the morning’s minus-24 temperatures. Head coach Jacques Martin said Wiz will be re-evaluated Sunday morning, at which time a decision will be made on any participation in the 4 pm MT game.

After practice, the Habs returned defenceman Brendon Nash to the Hamilton Bulldogs after his two-game callup.

He played great for us and should be respected accordingly, but he is unfortunately past it. Too bad a stand up guy.

although roberts was a part of the corson/tucker “whaddayamean” yell fest after every play called on them as leaves… i respect him for shaking off a broken neck like he merely stubbed his toe

Judging from how he looked on his breakaway, I think Muller’s channelling his inner Gomez.

I want Sergio Momesso to fall on Gary Roberts, never liked him.

And on the goaltender subject.  I’d rather the Habs play Fichaud or Aebischer than bring Tremblay back to trade Haller, Recchi and a 1st round pick for Moog.

He’s definately scary in the defensive zone, but I think that can be negated by pairing him with a good stay at home D man.  I just don’t understand the fragile stuff, the fights i posted are from last season, did he turn into a little old man in the period of a year?  The only thing he ever had wrong was his wrist and he had that surgicaly repaired and was good as new.
