  1. habs365 says:

I would have to say the team..when they have a bad game..they don’t say much about martin..they want to trade the team..this one is no good..that one is no good..they should do this with him..he should be on this line..or sit him out..think it over the players get the blame..I don’t see martin sitting out..I don’t have anything against martin as a a coach, don’t play mind games with your players..a player has to be on a steady line..ask cammy, a very good player..haven’t got a clue what players will be on his line come tuesday night..sitting Pk because he made a couple of don’t see him doing the same to gomez..oh I forgot the vet don’t get touched according to jm…..

  2. Psycho29 says:

Actually, I think the Devils made themselves as bad as the Laffs

  3. observer says:

kessell scored the shootout winner beating his old team boston and the rookie burke could have drafted. burke has done an outstanding job. admit it! if anyone said last summer burke would make leafs as good as new jersey this year you’d say he was dreaming – well burke did it! whatta great gm!

  4. observer says:

2 points out of first in eastern conference with one game in hand. way the best in least goals allowed. edmonton beat st. louis and halak tonight for their 4th win in a row.

  5. HabFanSince72 says:

    In interviews he doesn’t choke.

  6. observer says:

I’d have asked him, “why is it you have little success leading your team to the Stanley Cup finals whether you are in Boston or in San Jose?”

  7. savethepuck says:

thinking he is an important part of our hockey team that won’t cost as much for us to sign him next year because of this injury.  He is a player that has worn the JERSEY longer than any other player. He will be fine and an important part of our furture.

  8. DavidKB says:

Watching St. Louis and Edmonton and the audio was only the sounds of the arena. It was great to hear the players. I’m thinking about sending CBC an e-mail requesting that they do the same the next time Bob Cole does a game… let him call it, just don’t broadcast it. I was sure he had retired. I guess wishing it isn’t enough.

  9. iwardhabs says:

“Two o’Clock, time for a Red Bull…”  That’s a funny, relaxed, and confident goalie.

  10. 4loorplay says:

what do we do with markov….seems he getting hurt in the same place all the time now. be it gets fixed this season what does a team do if opponet hits him there again with same results…..thinking trade

  11. Say Ash says:

I friggin’ hate Thornton. Remember him in the 2nd int? “if we keep them to 5 shots in the 3rd we’ll be fine”

    The Sharks had 4.

  12. pmaraw says:

you know the leafs are in a sad state when their GM goes banana’s (in a GM standard) over a tying goal.

  13. aemarchand11 says:

Sportsnet Makes me sick, putting up an Article about Subban’s  “Cockiness, affecting his team”.

These Toronto based media stations are ridiculous. Anybody who agrees with Don Cherry should have their heads examined. But if PK was playing with the leafs they would be all over how talented and full of charisma his is, not to mention his truculence.

    Go Habs Go!

  14. K-hab25 says:

If they weren’t “playing as a team”, who would get all the blame?

  15. habs365 says:

Don’t give martin all the credit..the other coaches must be doing some good..the team is playing as a team that’s why they’re winning.

  16. FormalWare says:

Spacek? Stubbs – you said you had a vid of the Spaceman!

  17. samTHEman says:

Yup looking great. Just don’t forget Boston, Detroit and Vancouver have 3-4 games in hand.

  18. Ayan_SB says:

Brian Burke is building a hell of a team.

    In Boston.

  19. Ayan_SB says:

The Habs have now climbed up in the standings to #2 in the East.

They also lead the East in allowing the least amount of points to the opposition. That is to say, they win most of their games in regulation.

Only 3 points away from the top of the league.

  20. samTHEman says:

Bruins playing the Leafs on CBC. In other words, Tim Thomas notches his 6th shutout of the season, increasing the gap between Price and himself to 2. But…but…..Vezina….belongs to Price. Maybe Carcillo, Avery or Orr will run Thomas over. One can only hope….lol kiddin.

  21. CanadienBoy says:

Niece Weber got it D figure out and got stronger,we got two up and  coming D so what the bitching ?

  22. psyko514 says:

Would’ve been nice if Price got a goal while clearing.

  23. DearyLeary says:

He’ll get one by the end of the year.  Guaranteed.

  24. N.B.habs fan says:

Price for the VEZINA trophy this year.

  25. Harani says:

    How bout the Hart?

    “It must be love!”

  26. DearyLeary says:

Bring back the ‘stache, Carey, it was glorious.

  27. samTHEman says:

    Carey vs Tim for Vezina

  28. Chuck says:

Talk to me after Thomas has played the same number of games as Price has, THEN we’ll see how their stats match up.

Centre Hice: one fan’s attachment to the Montreal Canadiens

  29. SmartDog says:

Price should win if he keeps it up. Thomas has been playing lights out hockey. But he’s older; I’ll be surprised if he can keep it up.  Also, I bet Price plays at least 10-15 more games this year.

  30. HabFanSince72 says:

    TimTOm’s just lucky.

  31. careyprice says:

Nice to see Carey smiling. MVP.

  32. otter649 says:

    Carey Hart……

  33. ooder says:

ok not to put a damper on the win but this is pathetic:

    88 is the new 23

  34. blu3chip says:

Why is it a ‘damper’ if it has nothing to do with the Habs?

  35. SeriousFan09 says:

Minor hockey continues to embarass itself.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  36. kempie says:

Happened in my hometown and everyone here has mad respect for that coach. He did the right thing.

  37. Danno says:

Price seems in excellent spirits. Did he call Hamrlik Stanley?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  38. ooder says:

    disgusting huh

    88 is the new 23

  39. observer says:

league president may be the same racist the other coach and his player are?

  40. observer says:

anyone can win a 6-4 game. but champions must be able to win the 2-1 or 1-0 game. like habs played to a tee with the 2-1 then 3-1 lead. excellent perfo9rmance!

  41. SmartDog says:

Guys seem to be plugged in, great team play.  Gotta love it!

Have to say, watching Weber tonight… wow.  Led the team with +3, on for every goal.  Encouraging to think the Habs are no longer rushing players but developing them well in Hamilton.

As much as I still think Boucher is a great coach, I’m impressed by what Martin has done with this team, and that the Habs player development system seems to be succeeding.

  42. TomNickle says:

I’ve read for two years that Weber can’t play NHL hockey due to a lack of strength.  Whether he can stay healthy due to his lack of size and the demands of the position over the long haul is one thing, but he proved today against one of the most physical teams in the NHL that he can handle it.

There were similar questions about Gorges when he first started playing with the team.  Weber was authoritative on the boards and moved traffic in front of our net.

He answered a lot of questions today.

If this week has been any indication, it looks like we can pencil a new name into the defense group for 2011-2012.

  43. observer says:

i watched olympics last winter and thought weber played real well for switzerland holding his own basically against the nhl players in that competition.

  44. Bill J says:

Just a different spin on your last sentence…

… Or Weber is being showcased for a imminent trade.

  45. TomNickle says:

You know I actually thought that when they called him up.  But now, why sit Subban to showcase Weber?  It doesn’t make much sense.  I think it’s more a case of we have Subban, Gorges and Spacek under contract or hold their rights(in Gorges’ case) going into next season and we need to find out whether or not we have somebody who can fill a spot next season.

Looking for cheap talent to fill next year’s holes is huge considering Price, Subban and Eller will need contract extensions in the off-season following the upcoming summer.

Price will be getting north of $5 million annually if things continue, Subban will probably be close to $5 million and Eller will probably get a contract very similar to what Kostitsyn’s is now.

All of that with Cammalleri, Gomez, Gionta and Plekanec under contract.

  46. samTHEman says:

You can’t assess a player’s performance based on 2 games lol

  47. samTHEman says:

Max Pac Weber and a 2nd for Iggy 😛 lol.

  48. DavidKB says:

I’ve never thought about it seriously before, but Iginla in a Habs sweater would be exciting. He needs a change of scenery. If I’m not mistaken, Pouliott and Pacioretty have a similar style. The team doesn’t need two. Could a Iggy enhanced team win? No Markov… I don’t know.

  49. Chips says:

Price signed for 2 years last summer.

    25 in 2011

  50. samTHEman says:

Yup. Plus Tim’s back up is Raask. You can expect him to play his ass off when he gets a start and he plays well he might get more starts, less games for thomas, less wins, less shutouts
