Video: Canadiens all business after grabbing 2-0 lead

If you’d expected a raucous celebration in the Canadiens’ dressing room after the team’s 3-1 Game 2 victory Saturday night, you’d have been sorely disappointed.

Michael Cammalleri wouldn’t even call the result of the first two games satisfying. With the Habs up 2-0, another two games remain to be won before Montreal will crack much of a smile.

Post-game dressing room video features Carey Price, Cammalleri, James Wisniewski, Yannick Weber and two of Jacques Martin.

  4. M.Neil says:

I think Rene Rancourt should hang up his tuxedo and microphone, he doesn’t have the mojo that say the Flyers do with a recording of Kate Smith. Montreal should get a recording of Roger Doucet on the big screen, that should finish the Bruins off for this year.

    • Irishhabsfan says:

I agree with your comment, the fist pumping would be tolerable if the man could sing. I always thought the singer followed the instrument, not the other way around….bloody awful, show a commercial instead.

  5. Fantastic start…lets keep it coming. Route for Buffalo too, as i don’t want to see Washington second round so hopefully the Sabres will upset Philly. The Caps need some tenderizing first, so let Sabres face them next. The Bell Centre will be wild on Monday….hope Chara gets over his ailments (fright butterflies) and meets the next bell.

    go Habs

  6. habitual says:

Turning point in the series: next game.

Les Boys have been earning every break they’ve gotten, but scoring the first goal so early in each of the first two games isn’t likely to continue. I am thus very comforted by the lack of satisfaction displayed by Cammy, cause the Bruins will be bringing all they have in game 3.

Now, having said that, barring another damned injury, looking good!

  7. NoTinFoilCups says:

I haven’t been able to find PK’s postgame interview that many have mentioned. Does anyone have a link?

    • the interview was between periods during Hockey Night in Canada broadcast on CBC. My question is why no HNIC replay of the Habs/Bruins game on Saturday…or is it only the Canucks, and their fortunes that matter here?

  8. Bob Barker says:

I loved at the end of the game when U.S.S Hal Gill docked in the middle of the ice and no one could get the puck out from underneath him.

Great game by the boys again.

  9. Tony McLean says:

None of this would be possible if Jaro hadn’t pulled off last year’s miracle. The experience everyone got (especially the youngsters), the team building of that miracle run backstopped by The Miracle Worker made this outfit a better team. And he schooled Price too. Go Habs go!

“If I wake up in the morning in a bed with white sheets I think I’m in the hospital.” John Ferguson in Tex-Made Sheets commercial, 1960’s

    • Trisomy 21 says:

Really? I can’t believe We’re still hearing it about Jaro around here. We just won 2 games on the road and you’re still giving all the credit to Jaro? JM’s system and our strong D core isn’t responsible? all Jaro? not the strong backchecking from the forwards and shadowing from Plekanec?

  10. tony d says:

man, your spamming is getting really tired….take it somewhere else buddy.

  11. Rossy says:

Am I the only one who’s noticed that Tyler Seguin is a healthy scratch? Earlier this year there were howls of protest about Martin squelching Subban’s development by making him a healthy scratch. Now there’s not a peep about Subban’s development (except from Cherry, Marchand, Richards, et al). How come none of those guys is screaming at Julien regarding Seguin’s benching?

  12. WindsorHab-10 says:

Gotta give JM credit for preparing this team and especially the young players like Eller, White, Desharnais etc.. Putting his arm around Ryan White early in the game, talking to him & then tapping him on the shoulder was priceless and indication that he’s a teacher and not someone that ruins talent as has been reported. I’ve often criticized JM & demanded his firing but based on the first 2 games of this series(I know it’s not over) I think a lot of us might have jumped the gun a bit too early and spoken out of frustration.
Goes to show you that regular season and playoffs are very different. The entire team is on the same page and share the same goal. Very impressive. Hats off to JM & coaching staff.

“Hate the Bruins like a sickness”

  13. The Cat says:

Habs look sharp. Often I saw 5 habs between the faceoff circle line and Price. I can see a day where Bettman will make this an illegal defense penalty.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  14. ths says:

Incredibly impressed by everyone from the top BG, PG down to the bottom (Pyatt, Darche).
Carey has arrived. PK has arrived and he’s up in the penthouse already.
He has taken so much shoot this year and now he’s answering everyone.
You think he was intense postgame ? Watch him when he goes down the line shaking hands with the Broon(m)s on Thursday.
Wiz impressed me when challenged after that hit.
All the elements of a winning team are there right now.
I admit I was fooled by their rope-a-dope season but now im nailed to the bandwagon.
The final piece will be Pouliot screaming between Chara and the stanchion and roofing the series sweeping goal on Thursday then dropping Chara when he comes over to interrupt the celebration.

Ooh Aah Habs on the war path

  15. SeriousFan09 says:

Hamilton Bulldogs leading the Oklahoma City Barons 2-0 in the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs at the moment folks.

Andreas Engqvist has 1G, 2A so far, Nigel Dawes, 2G, 1A.

Louis Leblanc, Phillippe Lefebvre and Michael Bournival are up against it once more in must-win games as both Montreal Juniors and Shawinigan Cataractes look to make a comeback from 3-2 deficits after staving off defeat in Game 5 victories.

  16. SeriousFan09 says:

Listened to, and enjoyed the radio call of the Habs trouncing the Bruins through my shift at work. I love this team, taking it to a bunch of bullies and self-righteous punks.

Mind you, the Bruins may just get really sore and complain about the Special Broom Night on Thursday.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

    • Gormdog says:

Tempered expectations are always best, but as an earlier poster said:

I can’t think of the last time I wanted a series this badly.

Being an underdog is fine and dandy, but being disrespected? Being cheated by the league from Bettman to Campbell?
Being doubted by hometown media who somehow forgot that having balls is 2/3rds of this battle and the Canadiens are chock full of em’?

Go Habs go baby. Didn’t quite work out for the five year plan, but you left us with some pretty generous building blocks Bob.

      • habstrinifan says:

Thank you for posting this. I feel exactly the way you do and am scared at the way I am holding my ‘gloat’ in EXPECTATION of the final WIN of this series. I dont want to jump the gun but I am ready to let out the hugest “take that you f….. a…. to the whole darn LOT you mentioned when we take the Bruins down.

Let’s do the The Vulcan mind meld and it will happen. GO HABS GO!!
Cant wait for the next game.

  17. ooder says:

you know what i realised about martin…
he grills the young guys in the regular season… one mistake and nails their ass to the bench.. he makes sure they do what he sais and don’t mess up…
and then… when it matters most and everything is on the line he knows he can trust them and sends them..
case and point..lars eller winning a battle AGAINST 5 BRUINS IN THE DYING MINUTES OF THE GAME!!!!!

this kind of remind me of a tactic in the ender’s game book series (dunno if any of you guys have read it)

    GWG = game winning gionta!

    • Gormdog says:

      The enemy’s gate is down.

Did you see the intensity in PK’s post game interview?

He’s being groomed to lead em’ all. His 4 game absence from the lineup was the beginning of the “professionalization of Pk Subban”.

    • Trisomy 21 says:

Your analysis is premature. No real costly mistakes from a rookie in the series yet. We are only 2 games in.

  18. jerry says:

i have the inside track on thursday night i picked up halak, at the airport ,dressed him up like price and nobody noticed far as pk, did the same with bobby orr, had t do a little makup job but bobby/pk same skills
pk is just amazing ,so young in hs career and he is actually a superstar thanks halak and bobby

ps a big thanks to cary and pk wow great job you guys and every star players on the team

  19. forskis says:

It is good to see Pyatt playing well after all the garbage spewed about him here all season about being JM’s pet and being useless…looks like he turns it on during the playoffs too…

Habs better not muck up Game #3…it’ll be the turning point game…they better play heads up, responsible and gritty…the B’s will come out with their ABSOLUTE BEST for Game #3.

“I am guilty of using elipses…”

    • Gormdog says:

For a small guy he sure can play hard when the time comes. I can life with “low offence” guys like Moen, White, Darche, Pyatt, if they give it all when it matters most.

“…he’s Danish; you buy that at a coffee shop…” ?!! This is the type of commentary we pay for? Who’s doing the hiring at CBC, Don Cherry?

    • Lawrencetown Liquor Pigs says:

Na man, that was an awesome comment. He was praising Eller’s work ethic, and at the same time the lack of it from the Bruins. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Healey this playoffs, and to a lesser extent with Gary Galley. I haven’t turned beet red with rage or had the wife glare at me over my rants at the tv over stuff they’ve said.
Sorry for being obnoxious, props for being generous,
y’all down, we booze hounds, take two drinks and pass.

      • LizardKing1967 says:

you know what, I watched a handful of games on CBC this season, and I turned right back to RDS because the comentary sickened me. But so far, I have watched every minute of both games on CBC and I have to agree with you, they have done a good job, and I haven’t been “forced” to switch back to RDS. It’s a good change, as Benoit Brunet is getting on my nerves.

        I BELIEVE!

        • Mad Habber says:

I wonder if Mad Mike’s lack of appearence on the Hotstove had anything to do with the score. Didn’t he predict the Bruins in five.

          Just saying…

  22. dhenry1234 says:

One thing I’m going to point out about Carey Price. In regards to his skill and composure this Post Season as a Goaltender. Look at the Lucic chance in the third period where he makes that great save to keep that game at the score of 2-0. Excellent save that kept the game in habs hands. What some might not realize is that Carey screwed the save up at first. Even in the replay it’s obvious that he lost his push with his right foot and was out of position. Yet still managed to glove it and make an excellent save. On any normal save, Carey would have been square to the shooter and made the save easily.

This is just another prime example of how Carey Price makes it look easy with his calmness and composure under this massive pressure of NHL Playoffs. Absolutely wonderful. We’re lucky as Fans to finally see the Carey Price that was talked about since the day he was drafted. I’m most certainly glad that we kept this Guy instead of Halak. (I do not mean to bring up any arguing about who was/is better)

I have a very good feeling about this year folks. Especially this series considering we get to take it back home now.

Every single person on this website knows that the Bell Centre is the absolute craziest, most intense and passionate building in the NHL because we are the absolute, craziest, most intense and passionate fans in the NHL. We literally are a 7th man there supporting our team. Boston has NO idea what’s about to hit them when they step onto the ice. I literally couldn’t even believe how a Playoff opening game in Boston was not even close to that of a regular season tilt in Montreal. When the bruins come to Montreal, when Zdeno Chara touches the puck, it will make all the booing attempts on Subban in Boston, Laughable! They’re in our zone now.

I could go on and on for hours about this team. I’m a believer!

We got this. GO HABS GO!

  23. kempie says:

Man Cherry has become a technicolour trainwreck. A dancing leaf gerbil? Rukka Task? Check Price’s underwear? I spit out my beer when he started with “Let me tell ya what the problem is”. Really dude, I don’t think many Canadian viewers see a 2-0 first period Habs lead as a problem. Really, his “I’m such an old-school moron” schtick has become completely worn out. As in no entertainment value remaining at all. I’d rather watch 15 minutes of T-shirt cannons & zambonis to tell you the truth.

Anywho, Julien’s tie looks like it’s getting pretty tight. It won’t get any easier for him at the Bell. Ya know what would be hilarious? If the next time Gio or Wiz or Skillzie scores a goal, the Bell should use the USA chant.

    • Timo says:

Hey, so would I. Despite everything else they still have pretty hot women in Boston. There is something to be said about a hot lady shooting an cannon loaded with t-shirts while riding a zamboni.

  24. Timo says:

What is the comment that Cammi made that everyone is talking about?

  25. stephen says:

Ever wonder what the likes of Joel Bouchard and Alain Crete do while watching the game?

    Me neither.

But take a look at the 1:10 mark of this video for a bit of a laugh!

Cheers to the Habs for a superb effort!

  26. 4m3y2j says:

  28. blu3chip says:

BG rebuilt this team through UFAs in one go, hired a smart and experienced coach, and stocked up some future stars in the farm.

Thank you Bob, you are awesome!

    • DearyLeary says:

Well, I don’t know how many future stars are left. Lots of them playing with the big club now.

PK, Pacioretty, White, Webber, Desharnais all came up within the last year. Only guys I expect to be able to make the jump in the foreseeable future would be Palushaj and Nash; but both are a little ways off yet. The playoff push in Hamilton will do them well.

      • Mad Habber says:

Leblanc, Kristo, and err the little guy out West they say isnt a great skater. While maybe still questionable they are promising.

        • habstrinifan says:

If you mean Gallagher.. I say he will be with habs and be a revelation.
Smile folks! The HABS are building for HISTORY again.
          2Nd centennial is looking GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

I am right now in negotiation with SATAN to install HD and 3D TV down there cause I already been refused up there. All I know is that there will be HELL raised in HELL if I aint alowed to follow the 2nd centennial as it builds.

  29. Nahlsy says:

This simple, Habs have beaten the Bruins in 11 of the last 14 games they’ve faced each other over the past two years. Bruins are 0-26 in series after losing the first two. Bruins are 0-4 in their last 4 in Montreal, 1-5 in their last 6 there.
Bruins need to win 4 of the next 5 games and at least 2 of those in Montreal to move on.

Not over yet, but it’s a GREAT start for the boys. The city of Boston can’t be a fun place for sports fans with the struggles of the Roid Sux and the Bruins dropping the first two to the Habs.

  30. habsfreak says:

Bruins out by Thursday, Philly out by Buff, the cup is ours to win!! 2011 habs win the cup…vs Canucks for the final 😉

  31. Habs_008 says:

Loved seeing Neely like that, haha, made the win that much sweeter, screw Boston. I love beating them.

  32. Nahlsy says:

Jaro who? Said it all along, get behind the kid and he’ll be fine. Keep it going Carey, 2 games, 1 goal against 2 games named first star.

Eller’s going to be a good one when his game develops just a touch more and no more distractions in the nets. That trade was the steal of the year. Habs NEED to lock up Wis for several years, what’s not to like about him? He brings just enough of everything you could want in a player back there.

    • DearyLeary says:

I’m a huge Price booster, I sport his #31 every game, but it wasn’t a ‘steal’. It was a good hockey trade where the Blues found a #1 keeper (who might not be as good as Price in the long run, but Halak will be a steady #1, I fully believe it), and we got a center with size and skill.

Both teams filled an organizational need, and I think both players will fill that role very respectably. Good trade as far as both teams go.

      • Nahlsy says:

We disagree, which is fine. I still feel Halak was over-rated and was blown out of proportion, time will tell on that one though. Eller is a big forward with a lot of potential. When you give up a glorified backup goalie, lose a headache (agent, Price vs Halak nonsense etc) and pick up a potential like Eller, it’s a steal in my book. Getting something for nothing always is. That was addition by subtraction and addition by addition all at once.

    • CranbrookEd says:

You are so correct about Mr. Lars Eller . . . watching him over the course of this season has provided a textbook chapter on steady improvement . . . when he actually gets ice time . . . Eller will be either the first or second line centre in a year or two . . . what moves he has and more than willing to throw a body check . . . watching him fend-off 4 or 5 Bruins towards the end of the third period was fantastic . . . listening to the pathetic Danish comment from the CBC crew was yet another low point from out public broadcaster . . . Eller however, is going to be a very good player for the HABS for many years to come!

Mr. Beliveau: “Pure Pak mais oui”!

  33. TINMAN17 says:

So, NESN drops some of their audio after each period and the end of the game, the boos got noticeably quieter. The wife thought something was wrong with our TV…Gomez you cost price a shut-out…Wisnewski: no cage, let’s dance…I said once before on here and that idiot FIG NEWTON jumped on me for it, the Bruins in all the time I have watched them(30 years) have never figured out how to build for the play-offs, goon hockey is not a winner…Eller is having a monster series, as is Pyatt, White…JM crystal ball on Webber?…Pouliot? I repeat, Pouliot?… Let’s finish this on Thursday night!

I don’t know if it has ever happened before in the playoffs but I would not be surprised if Julian was fired and this was his last game. Neely could come down to kick ass and have the assistant coached manage the bench. It’s a stretch but as I said, i would not be surprised.

I am proud of my team.

This is a very much deserved thank-you from all the waitresses who served me at the bar tonight, I always am a much more gracious tipper when our habs win a playoff game. they are also very cute, the waitresses, not the Habs, Merci beaucoup pour le match ce soir.

  38. C-Sword says:

    My first post here

My first star tonight goes to #81 Lars Eller, he didn’t play a lot, because he’s on the 4th line, but he pretty much won every battle for the puck and he’s very underrated when it comes to stick handling. Gauthier, thank you for making that trade last summer!

    • DearyLeary says:

He’s 21 years old and only getting better. Get used to seeing #81 on the ice, he’ll be a beaut for a long time to come.

Remember when McGuire was ranting about how Eller would never be a real NHL player, just someone you’d plug in your lineup to fill cap space? Here’s mud in your eye, Pierre.

      • ari says:

well said,we gonna have a nice team for a long to come,i just hope that tinordi one day become our chara.

        • DearyLeary says:

If Tinordi will be anything I see him as a slightly more mobile Hal Gill with a real mean streak.

I’d be absolutely fine with that. Should have him room with Hal for a summer or something.

      • Shmitzy says:

McGuire is just sad because the team he grew up loving won’t give him a job. Of any kind.
He’s acted like a spoiled child ever since he wasn’t even sniffed at for the GM position last year. So he scoffs at everything PG does and the rest of the MSM follow suit. Throw in a small bunch of Habs fans who shouldn’t be allowed to be fans in the first place and you have a summer of hating on PG and, more importantly, hating on Price.
That trade was CLEARLY great from the moment it was made. Price was the obvious choice over Halak and Eller was St. Louis’ top prospect and a guy we’ll own for seven seasons.
        Friggin’ genius.
