• Food for thought: Who should be the Canadiens’ next captain?
From Pat Hickey: The Canadiens won’t be heading back to Teen
Ranch in Ontario to do a little bonding at the end of training camp. This
fall, they’re heading to Clermont, in the Charlevoix region – just a hop, step
and jump from the casino in Malbaie.
The Habs will head
there after their final exhibition against the Islanders on Oct. 2 at
Le Colisée in Quebec. They will spend four days practising in Clermont
before flying to Toronto for their season opener on Oct. 7.

if he does great I’ll send him champagne – vintage. I’m just worried, that’s all. based on the facts to date. I trust the facts will improve
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
Hey didn’t Carey already have three years now when he was number 1? What gives here? Last season Carey was still the number 1 goalie, and it looks like he will be again this year. Only difference is Carey played all last year, but mainly sitting on the bench. What makes you think he’ll play the whole season this year?
Yeah, saw that with the binoculars, Andrew.
Cheers!
Actually, you’re a proud idiot who goes around pissing people off.
He managed pretty good at the Olympics, so I would imagine Halak would fit in quickly, and probably start his slow road to wins, at the season end, it was good enough to secure 8th spot last year.

So no mod will man up and explain what happened to my post, not even a polite email?
Right on chickensh……nah, not even worth it
Ballistic may be an understatement…
Very cool tattoo your daughter has. I love ink that has a meaning, not just a story.
Sorry for your loss.
Ya I got a big cross on the middle of my chest when I was 18, now I’m an atheist. Talk about irony.
4 years 11 million, 2.5, 2.75, 2.75, 3 or 3 years 8.25 million 2.5, 2.75, 3
Oh heck, I’m not going into this one again. But I agree this place will go ballistic when and if the signing is announced. At this point I wouldn’t be shocked with any developments on the Price front (hence the “if”).
Now as for tattoo advice I can only comment based on a very tasteful one my daughter had done to honour her late mother; small angel wings surrounding her Mom’s name. I breathe a little sigh every time I see it.

Name calling? Did I miss something?
Who the heck is Gomez? You mean G-Love?
Name calling is always the best way to go if you want to get a civil reply via your E-mail.
LOL
Even I admit that is a low blow offer. Ellis signed for that price, Carey is worth more than that for one year.
Darth Morpions
Thanks K.
It is an idea I have been leaning towards for a while now. Maybe after their names, also place the date?
Not sure if I would get a back ground or just the text…has to be the right decision, ’cause you’re stuck with it for life!
I’m thinking 3 years at $11.5 mil………….just watch!
I’ve been roofing for over 31 years crabcakes so I’m black and I’m proud!
You can send your good friend Carey a case when he signs in prelude to the excellent year that he is going to have.
Support Carey Price “Hypocrisy is not a virtue”
Guess no PETA in Spain when it comes to bull fighting etc……..
The native tongue idea, sounds cool to me.
Hi guys. Just checked in to repeat my broken record wish of $1.5M for one year. I know, I know, not realistic. But you know I’m never realistic when it comes to this team. Plus I couldn\t let this unexpected love fest of yours go unchallenged
FREE TIMO!
No,No,you have it all wrong. If the team loses with carey in net it’s his fault. If halak is in net, then, and only then, it is the teams fault. Even when he allows at least 4 goals a game like he did against the flyers while only facing 20 to 25 shots.
Leafstv “telling their fans they deserve to win for over 40 years”
BS on that one Flubber and I’ve been a fan long before you was in your daddy nutsack, lol
Nice. Keep these ideas coming!
Although my oldest KNOWS who her favorite team is…ok she has been guided to cheer for the Habs (she turned 3 just last week). I am not sure my wife would approve, and I really want it to be about them.
That is a good idea, but I really would prefer tattoos.
So did you see anything wrong with the post, did anyone reply rudely? Maybe one of the mods has it out for me, but I would really like to have a explanation on why it was removed…but since middle schoolers run this site, I will never get an answer.
My oldest has an irish name (first and middle) and my youngest (born last May) has hebrew (first and middle). I was thinking on their names done in their native tongue.

Gomez is awesome, how can you not laugh?
Komisarek has lost a bunch of weight over the years when he was at his best he weighed the most but has dropped at least 25 pounds over the years due to the increased speed in The NHL & him trying to keep up etc. but at a lower weight became more injury prone……….
I see that you are still consulting the children at the nursery school before you post.
Support Carey Price “Hypocrisy is not a virtue”
I hear ya!
My wife and I are going to try and get up to Montréal for the home opener, that should be a crazy night!
I think we should see how many people can use that oh so clever f-word. You know, the fanboy word. I’m going to try to get it started by calling everyone on this site a fanboy. Fanboy, fanboy, you’re all a bunch of fanboys — even you girls. Isn’t that clever?
Ha ha. My first dup ever and it’s a triple. Serves me right.
That’s all I’m trying to go for, don’t bury the guy before he’s dead.
Amen. I’ll try and be more optimistic about Price (but not about the Smurf(tm).
It’s going to be interesting, at least.
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
OK WTF.
I made a post about wanting some new ink that represented my daugthers and was looking for ideas, why was this deleted?
I wish he loved the Habs as much as he loves tanning.
I just want it to be over with and the season to start. I love summer but man these are the dog days!
Interestingly you’re making my point. Komisarek was terrific before that fight.
But he wasn’t mentally tough enough to bounce back. I’m not worried about Price physically (outside of injury, obviously) but his head.
I agree with you totally about Komisarek and it illustrates how important the mental part of the game is, especially so for goalies.
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
I’m not a Price anything, I’m a Habs fan. You should try it some time Mickey.
If the team plays the way they should, why should I worry about Price? If we start losing, it won’t be his fault. Plain and simple. I mean unless he actually watched pucks go by him… but here’s something for you to munch on mentally for a while…
Michael Leighton and Antti Niemi.
Price is 1000x the goaltender they will ever be. Price needs to be focused, that’s it. He needs to be ready to play and his skills will shine.
Goaltender isn’t supposed to score goals for you. He makes saves when you need him to and that is all.
I’m sure the team wants 5+ years, but Price ain’t going to take that. He’s looking for a short deal, 3 years maximum.
Bit off topic but scary event happened in Als/Bombers game tonight with Anthony Cavillo #13
being injured & carried off the field and later transferred to the hospital………
Well I actually read it and here’s what I did for my kid: IF your kids were born in a good wine year, you can put down wines for them from their birth year (my boy was born in 2003, a good year for Burgundies and Bordeaux). They have to pretty much be first growths for them to last 20 years, and what ‘s good about it is you can spread out the cost buying a bottle or two when you have spare cash. He’s got three cases and I’ve probably spent $6k, shopping carefully.
Just a thought. You’ve got to have it professionally cellared, also, but I think it’s a pretty special gift.
Uh huh.
I hope Cammy is right. He should know. But what else is he going to say. “Oh god I’m worried doinkless?” I don’t think so.
Certainly Price had some serious accomplishments in his youth, that’s why he’s here. But the last two years? Please.
I’ll show up here to eat crow in December if I’m wrong, and happily.
And I’m not complaining about nothing. I’m complaining that we have no plan “B” if Mr. Price is not mentally up to the job.
What’s our plan B? We don’t have one. Are you so confident in Price that we don’t need more than a warm body as backup?
Price should have been brought up carefully behind a veteran. That bird has flown and Bob Gainey takes the bullet on that one. Talk to you in 20 games.
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
Eklund… REALLY?!?!?!?!?
Wow.
I guess that list doesn’t include credibility…
Andrew….why wait for this site to implode when you have the power too make it explode! Andrew ,what do you and the other Pricenatics think he’s worth per season?
Andrew….why wait for this site to implode when you have the power too make it explode! Andrew ,what do you and the other Pricenatics think he’s worth per season?
Who gives a royal rat’s ass?
Komisarek WAS one of the best defensive d-men out there at the time. He WAS that good. It’s when he got licked by Lucic that he completely changed. Now, maybe he didn’t deserve to be in the All-Star game because he obviously isn’t an offensive force but he was definitely a monster on the blue line.
Get over the sour grapes that he’s a traitor and stop being delusional.
Lundquist and Thomas aswell

We do agree somedays Andrew. I like the contract I posted and would be extremely happy if it were so.
I think Price’s partying habits and not caring had more to do with it than anything. No one pummeled him to death like Komisarek.
We’ve heard that he’s matured and is working harder than ever and if that’s the case, I see no reason to worry.
Yes, he made the all star game with mike komisarek. excellent company…
What you mean when you say “Price hasn’t done SQUAT yet”.
I’d say making the All-Star team at 21 is pretty impressive.
Going 24-12-3 in his debut with the Habs after going through the WJC, winning it, and winning the Calder Cup with Hamilton and then relieving Huet of his duties while posting a very impressive 2.56gaa with a save percentage of 0.920… No, that’s just nothing, right?
He fully deserved his nomination the the All-Star game regardless of the fact that it was a biased vote.
He then got injured and things went downhill. Got into some problems with partying but I will definitely take it as a good sign when Cammy says he was the hardest worker during practice and that he hadn’t been able to score on him during that time for quite a while.
Sure, you can argue that maybe Cammy is trying to get behind Price, but who am I going to believe? The few doomsayers on this site that condemn a man before he actually does anything or Mike Cammalleri?
Sorry guys, no disrespect here, but I’ll take Cammy’s vote of confidence over your incessant complaining about nothing.
I cant understand how either side would want 5 years, so I guess thats probably what’ll happen lol
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
I try not to drink anything till after I’ve read JD’s posts. He’s what bugs tries to be, witty.
You’re right Price hasn’t done squat. No cups, no vezinas, only 1 all-star appearance and 1 second round appearance as the starter. So tell me, what did the guy we traded to St. Louis accomplish again. Oh that’s right, I remember, SQUAT!!!
I’m hoping that if it’s 3 years it’s the exact same contract Cam Ward got after he won the cup, a nice average of 2.667, solid salary and affordable.
I’m think your “-6 in the playoffs” quote to be a little ridiculous, to be perfectly honest.
Cammalleri, one of the best playoff performers of all was also -6.
Go cheer for St. Louis then.
They need all the fans they can get.
You have 20 games to stay or go.
That’s it.
The Pam Anderson/Sittler line made me laugh a bit too hard considering I was halfway through a sip of water. Damn you, James.
I’m thinking 5 years, $15 – $17M CDN — remember, these are the same people that brought us Scott “-6 in the playoffs” Gomez for $7 million a year.
What’s your call? If you’re Gauthier/Gainey and have already bet grandma’s jewelry on the guy, I’m not seeing 2/3 years, but what do you guys think?
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
Well teh sky would not fall that is for sure, if Price sits, they find someone else. Whether that next person is as good or better, that would be up for discussion I am sure.
Price will not sit, he will be signed in the next 2 weeks.
Oh crap, my meds just wore off…What the heck did I post????
Ooops!! I messed up. In NOV/DEC Price actually started 19 games , with a 2.42 GAA and a .923%, going 8-8-3. The team scored 43 goals, while Price allowed 46. Halak started 18 in DEC/MAR, with a 2.44 GAA and a .926%, going 12-5-1. He allowed 44 goals, while the team scored 58 goals. So actually Price allowed 2 more goals, in 1 more game and the team scored 15 goals more for Halak, in 1 less game. LMAO Who said pro sports are fair?
I agree, there will be those who feel the contract is crap no matter the structure. I don’t think you are too far off, I have similar thoughts but feel it will be 3 years at 2.5/2.5/3, which really is not a bad contract IMHO.
I dont think it will, its not like itll be a shocker.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
What nonsense? This is fun! (for August, anyway)
Cary Price will not be a problem if he stops the freaking puck.
Why is this so hard for you fanboys to understand? He’s not a pop star lip synching. He’s got to STOP THE PUCK, especially at important points in the game (I won’t insult you by telling you what they are).
Price hasn’t done SQUAT yet. He MAY, I’m not saying he won’t. I HOPE he does.
We’ll find out before Christmas, I’ll tell you that.
When there is snow on the ground on the Rue St. Jacques we’ll at least have some definitive idea as to whether or not Gauthier and Gainey were wrong or not.
“To failing hands we’ve passed the torch.”
My point was that I think the same malcontents will complain no matter what the contract that’s signed will be.
I think that the holdup is that the Price camp likely wants a 1 year deal so he can improve his earning power as the starter next year, while Gauthier is attempting to be shrewd and trying to get a 3+ year deal while Price has little bargaining power. I’m guessing it’ll end up as a 2 year deal worth somewhere in the range of 1.8-2.2 million per year, but I don’t have a clue if I’m correct or not. Pure speculation.
When Price signs Habs Inside/Out might set a record for comments pro/con on the $ value & term of the contract based on one topic…………
