Monday’s signings of forwards Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais indeed was a good day’s work for Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier.
His kitty stands at roughly $20 million as the July 1 free agency period approaches, so we’re bound to see more movement from Gauthier in the days to come.
Don Meehan, Andrei Markov’s agent, says he’ll talk with Gauthier about his client in Minneapolis during this week’s NHL Entry Draft. Yannick Weber seems close to re-signing. How does Gauthier round out his defence, with RFA Josh Gorges expected to be signed, and UFAs James Wisniewski, Roman Hamrlik and Brent Sopel in the wings?
