Tinordi spurns Irish for Knights: report

The Toronto Sun reports that Canadiens draft pick Jarred Tinordi is headed to the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, after having committed to play for the University of Notre Dame Irish.

• Julie Veilleux’s nice synopsis of the Canadiens’ off-season moves.

thank you. maybe they’ll get some when the season starts

  2. Clay4bc says:

    “cheapens the product beyond repair”

Yes, that’s exactly what it does…well put.

Hated it when it happened but, in hindsight, it was larceny. A truly awesome, very forward-looking trade.

    Oops, my bad.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. 😉

  5. SeriousFan09 says:

Those were the years of 400-goal seasons by the Oilers and 13 players hit 100 points or more that year, people have become far too caught up in what the old scoring rates used to be with the Habs. 100 Points is something achieved by the Top 5 players in the NHL and MTL never sucks long enough to draft one of those guys.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  6. bostonantifan says:

It’d be nice to have ANY kind of a big time scorer on the Habs, regardless of nationality.  I mean, it’s only been about 24 years since Naslund was the last 100 point scorer (110 in 85-86).

  7. punkster says:

    Damn, I’ll miss it again?

  8. madcap_habsfan says:

nice to hear good things about a seemingly  great guy 🙂 glad he’s on our team:)

  9. Bill J says:

I wanted to reply – but you said it so perfectly!

    lol Nicely done 😉

  10. LizardKing1967 says:

Kostopoulos was interviewed on Team 990 after he was no longer a Hab, and Tony M. asked him (as Koivu was on his way too) who, in this current dressing room, would he say was capitain material. WITHOUT ANY HESITATION Kostop sayd “JOSH GORGES”

    Jim-out. I BELIEVE!

  11. madcap_habsfan says:

do they make small girl sizes? I can only find them in what seem to be men’s sizes

  13. D Alcorn says:

Agree.  I read something recently (Vancouver Sun ?) suggesting that the Phoenix situation is far from resolved, you mention this cheapening of the NHL in Florida, and other examples of the ‘ vision ‘ abound.

The impression is left that somebody wants NHL hockey in hockey-indifferent markets at any & all costs – apparently, Buttman knows best !

Hahahahahahaha! That made my night bud!!

  16. HabFanSince72 says:

When I came home this evening the neighbors’ dog had left a big turd on my doorstep.

That dog has more class than Mike Richards.

  17. The Cat says:

I can understand the vision, but when a franchise has a ‘make an offer on your season ticket’ offer surely everyone in the NHL knows that it cheapens the product beyond repair.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  18. SeriousFan09 says:

This was also before the instigator rule and an NHL that is quickly rendering the boxer on skates irrelevant to the game.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  19. punkster says:

Yep, and I was on a Tinordi thought when I posted it even though it was a Leblanc discussion. Happens when you get over 50. The mind wanders. Yesterday suddenly becomes today. Wait, when was yesterday?

  20. petrov14 says:

    lol win.

The last two Rangers teams that went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final could both point to one of the NHL’s most feared enforcers on their roster.

  22. punkster says:

Jarred Tinordi is a female? Wow, my respect for the scouting staff just went waaaay up. I mean, drafting a female in this league takes some guts.

As for JD, I am well aware he is a male having seen him perform a perfect reverse one and a half somersault with three and a half twists, in the Free position, in his back yard pool a couple of weeks ago. The man knows his dives. And his BBQ as I recall 😉

  23. D Alcorn says:

    Buttman’s ‘ vision ‘ for the NHL … enjoy ðŸ˜‰

    ALWAYS Habs –

  24. The Cat says:

When I think of the term ‘top flight’ I think of Subban, and I dont think theres any others of that ilk over there.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  25. HFX-HabFan says:

I think he was referring to “JT- Jarred Tinordi”, not “JT- blogger”.

  26. The Cat says:

It makes me sick that Winnipeg, Hamilton and Quebec City dont have a team and I see this…

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  27. The Cat says:

Thanks db…Though I dont know if he could be captain. To be captain you got to have clout, Gorges may be too young to have clout yet.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  28. Say Ash says:

Wow, I can’t believe praise for Gainey got through the filters. I don’t think I even say Dick Irvin Jr.

  29. ZepFan2 says:

Fyi…JT is a female and JD is a male.

  30. db says:

I seem to recall an RDS article mentioning that his agent called the Habs but we already spent that money on Darche/Pouliot.  I have no opinion on this matter.

  31. db says:

There were plenty of haters (not as much as there are now) when he was brought in, true they hate because they are ignorant but he was seen as a throw in and wasn’t in the Habs plans etc etc…  I think Josh is the key to CP’s success/development (ya he’s still a work in progress and he knows it, but his agent doesnt :p).   Anyway, to answer your question: I wouldnt be surprised when it comes to Habs fans.

    Oh, and your disclaimer rocks..

  32. RGM says:

No problem – they’re not advertising them yet, but they do have them at the Canadiens Boutique. I just called in and asked; lo and behold, win. I’m hoping to take it to a place here and get a letter added to the front soon. 🙂

He definitely does live the good life, and deserves every bit of it. Wasn’t drafted at either the WHL or NHL level and has worked his butt off every day for what he’s accomplished.

I wish I could spend my summers back in Kelowna. Two weeks of the year just ain’t enough.

    Josh Gorges for Captain!
