In reality we need these two points more than we need to goon up chara and his ogres. If we get the division lead nad hang on we will be third seed (jumping over three teams) and we get boston, NY, or Tampa barring any crazy lsoing streaks or winning streaks. We are a team where home is where the heart is so to speak. Our home games are important to us unlike places like Tampa where they play at home and it feels like the road. So let the slovakian army goon up Chara in the offseason for posing naked in ESPN body issue. Let us take these two and concentrate and focus at getting the bell centre for the first two playoff games.

I find it interesting that Julien said he didn’t want anything to happen at the end of the last game in Boston. Then why does he always have his goons on the ice in the dying seconds of out of reach games?

    • Harry says:

Julien will do this until the League stops him. How about the laast Habs-Rangers game when the Rangers coach matches up to get a fight before the game even starts? When will the NHL give teams penalties and fines for these acts that often lead to injuries.

Please…all of us that are saying call up this guy or this guy or well this guy is big call him up. The bruins have seasoned fighters who mostly play over 12 mins a game and by the way….Chara is the toughest there is in the league. He destroyed everyone coming his way in the western league and is undefeated in the NHL. The habs don’t have the assets to play that style…even in the AHL. Maybe they should sign an emergency contract to Lennox Lewis or Manny Pachiao…for some david vs goliath action. Give me a break. If they play solid down the lineup and walk away from the garbage(that doesn’t mean don’t fight … just pic and choose) and protect CP31 we will come out on top. Dont think that we are playing a bunch of ogres….well the kida look like em….but still they aren’t ogres…they are slow, big stupid heads !?!?!?!?! Just put the puck in the net and stand up foryourslef and life will be fine.

    • LNev says:

The sad part is people dismiss Chara, Lucic and Horton as goons and thugs, the reality is they are quality hockey players.

Chara is probably the best Defenseman in the league. He is a complete hockey player who is obviously the largest and as strong as anyone. He fights true one-dimensional goons and dominates them. He is unmatched. Even after the Max injury, I’d take him on the Habs blueline in a heartbeat.

Lucic is probably the best all-around power forward in the game. He’s a thirty goal scorer who intimidates the hell out of people. If he wasn’t a high end player, he’d still be in the league as one of it’s top enforcers. On my team (and anyone’s) in a second.

Horton is a quality power forward. 20 – 25 goals (should probably be more), can hit and fight and plays tough.

Those are three player (types) that Habs fans have been screamingto acquire for years. Size, skill, nasty…

Then you have Thornton. A tough guy who is good enough to take a regular shift… Plays a good defensive game and chips in. Like Chris Neil.

Yes, the Max hit was bad and i would have liked to have seen a suspension. I know it has gotten people’s blood boiling and reasonable thought/discussion have taken a back seat to “Call up career minor leaguers who can’t skate or contribute at an NHL level so they can punch (and lose) to Chara/Lucic.”

The Reality is, the Bruins are a hell of a hockey team. They are going to be hard for any team to handle in the playoffs. They have tough, mean and highly skilled players. Some combine all three… and we’d love ‘em if those names were on the back of Habs jerseys.

The Habs have to play their game, not try and be what they aren’t. Gionta still won’t back down from Chara in the corners or infront of the net. That’s toughness and smart hockey. Calling up Henry to intentionally attack or injure Chara would be absolute trash.

      • dasbooth says:

I don’t disagree with most of what you said, except for the fact about Chara. He is a loser, not because of the Pacioretty hit, but because he loses. He is the Captain of the team that lost a 3-0 series to Philly last year, and lost game 7 when being up .. what was it, 3-0 in the third. He is a loser, he does not do what it takes to win the big games. He lost in Ottawa, he continues to lose in Boston. When was the last time his Czech team did anything with him on it at the international level? He is a loser, about the only thing he wins is hardest shot competitions and fights.

  21. novahab says:

For all those losers out there and the ones lead my the Leaf’s media like CBC , TSN and Sportnet go to you know where. To get on TV or put in print that Patches was faking this injury is just another example of the WWF mentality of the NHL. I use to think going after Bettman and his henchmen by calling them out was the way to go but I see I am wrong. What you have to do is call the NHL the WWF and call Bettman, Mr. MacMann. I think the Montreal Media and the few honest writters in the Toronto Media has to print and say what the NHL lead by Bettman really is the WWF.The games are fixed by the refs and the league is lead by a bunch of dishonest jokers.

  22. Bill H says:

The Recchi interview is the subject of discussion on CBC Radio One on the Toronto morning show this morning. The Recchi comments are being dismissed as ridiculous. Its not just Habs fans that think so.

    • observer says:

Because the simple minds are taking his comments out of context. He is not saying Pacioretty embelished anything HE IS SAYING THE CANADIENS BY REPORTING THE EXACT INJURY WERE TRYING TO INFLUENCE THE PUNISHMENT ON CHARA. Because the Canadiens like all teams in this Bettman league NEVER divulge the exact injury immediately. They always just say “upper body injury” or “lower body injury”. Something NO other sport does.

      • punkster says:

        Arrrgghhhh…..

        ***Subbang Baby!!!***

      • Bill H says:

So then Sydney Crosby has an upper body injury? And Marc Savard has an upper body injury? Your comments make about as much sense as Recchi’s.

      • Propwash says:

Why the F*** do you not understand the reason they don’t divulge that information? ITS TO PROTECT THE PLAYER!

      • tbovs says:

So the idiot on the radio said that Habs management was embellisghing the extent of Patches injury. Recchi completely aggrees saying that well he does have a fractured vertibrae but they definitely lied about the concusssion. So you correct someone for saying that Recchi said taht patches was faking but instead he said that management was faking to get Z suspended. My friend your simple mind just doesn’t cut it. Don’t call out the posters for generalizing something that you can “insert here” and still have the premise right. Get a grip and attend to Bettmans lower body injury …. I think it needs a kiss *wink* *wink* ;)

      • Gorges_the_great says:

Oh really? Here’s the Bruins’ statement within ONE HOUR of the end of the game where Savard got hit by Cooke:

“Marc lost consciousness briefly on the ice after being struck in the head. He suffered a concussion from the hit.”

Teams use upper-lower body injury to hide injuries when they’re worth hiding (e.g. when a player leaves part way through a game without anything obviously having caused an injury). When it’s obvious, as was the case with both Pacioretty and Savard, teams have no reason to hide the injury. How ridiculous would it have been to say, in either Pacioretty or Savard’s case, that they suffered an “upper-body injury”. It was clear from the incidents what the injuries were.

    • novahab says:

That is wonderful but where is the WWF in all this, where is the WWF head office to say we will not stand for such hurtfull comments. They jumped all over Avery for his stupid comments about his ex which I totally agree with. So a player who at the time we though might be dead that ok to call him a faker. Thats mean he called the doctor a lier and its goes on and on. The only pro sporting organization that would allow this is the WWF. So far as I am concern the NHL is now the WWF.

  23. novahab says:

Anyone on here that thinks the Canadiens are going to get a fair shake tonight is out of their minds. This whole season has been a joke when it comes to the refs and the NHL head office. Now Recci make absolutely stupid comments and Bettmans pointing the finger at both GMs. The history of the Bruins taking shots and hurting our best players is right there. Hey Bettman never mind both GMS talk to the GM of the goon team who started all this because they couldn’t beat the Habs at playing hockey.

  24. zaq007 says:

Give me 2 points and no injuries and I’ll sleep really happy tonight

    • geo_habsgo says:

It is going to be one hell of a game but I am really worried that we are going to lose another key player. Please Subban stay away from trouble.

    • Nahlsy says:

I’ll take the no injuries and don’t care if Boston takes two points anymore to be honest. These clowns don’t care about the points, they care about crippling Habs (or as they call them in Boston.. froggies). The league has always had it in for the French so they love seeing it as well.
It’s a load of garbage and sadly the only way to beat these jackasses is to come out of the game without a serious injury as that means they failed.

  25. Kimberly2u says:

I’m not looking forward to tonight’s game…I’m afraid someone is going to go after Subban…like that stupid Horton..if we get any more guys hurt we won’t have anyone left on the team.

    • observer says:

Thats why I’d have Conboy called up even as a deterent.

    • RGM says:

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.
We cannot approach out opponents with fear; a determined resolve to get the job done is what separates the winners from the losers, and we know that the Canadiens are not intimidated by the Bruins. The record speaks for itself.

  27. observer says:

I repeatly asked why are all injuries are reported as totally meaningless “upper body” or “lower body” BUT this Pacioretty injury was immediately described as it was? And no one in the media ever questioned this nor do they question these ridiculous reports of “upper body injury”. Is it any wonder a player would question the motive or the possible severity?

    • RGM says:

I would suggest that the severity of the injury to Pacioretty had a lot of people concerned for his life and well-being, forgoing the traditional hockey injury of an “upper body injury”-type designation. People both inside and outside hockey were paying attention to this and the need for information is both relevant and central to the coverage, as well as the calls for true reform in hockey and the way it addresses violence. It would have been absurd for Martin to step up to the podium and say “Max Pacioretty suffered an upper body injury” as a result of that hit.

      Go Habs Go!

      • observer says:

There have been many serious injuries to other teams players and none are reported exactly. Spacek must have some kind of serious injury again not reported exactly as is immediately. If I just a fan would question this is it not obvious players also have a brain and they know a lot more than me and see the same thing?

        • RGM says:

Again, there’s a hockey injury and there’s an injury that affects a player’s very well-being beyond a hockey capacity. Spacek’s got a hockey injury from which he’ll return in relatively short order. The injuries to Gorges & Markov were described in some detail. There’s bound to be a chart posted somewhere in the unwritten rule book that explains what can and cannot be disclosed in detail to the press.

          Go Habs Go!

        • sergim26 says:

Do you know in what play Spacek got injured? That makes a big diference as not disclosing the injury exactly will protect him when he comes back. We all saw when Max was injured so stating it was an “upper body injury” would be ridiculous. When Savard got nailed by Cooke didn’t they report it as a concussion right away? What about with the Moore-Bertuzzi incident? You are blind if you can’t see the diference.

    • punkster says:

Ya, it has a whole grassy knoll smell to it, eh? Pffft.

      ***Subbang Baby!!!***

      • observer says:

There are NO injuries reported exactly as they are. All are reported now in Bettman’s reign as “upper body or lower body injuries” a totally meaningless description. No other sport does this. THEN OUT OF THE BLUE THIS INJURY IS EXACTLY DESCRIBED HOW IT IS – THIS DOES NOT PASS THE SMELL TEST.

And that is the reason Recchi said what I am sure all Bruins think and all players in the league also think.

  28. geo_habsgo says:

I’m really excited by Darche’s return. I think that he will be able to plug the hole caused by Patches absence. He is probably going to take up a spot on one of the top lines and park himself in front of the net looking for the garbage goal and screen like he’s done all season. He might not be as talented as Patches but he has the size and strength and willingness to go the net. We’ve been missing that presence the last few games.

Plus with Sopel set to return we can resume our crazy winning streak with him. All in all this is a really good time for injured players to return because not only are we getting a healthy lineup but one that will be very rested come the playoffs. I am hopeful that this club can do it now.

  29. HabFanSince72 says:

Claude Julien: “You’re asking me if (retribution) is going to come and I’ll tell you, [...] I don’t think that’s the way they handle things, I’d be very surprised.”

Julien should have said: “I don’t think that’s the way they handle things, unlike us.”
