Not easy, of course.

Nothing ever is.

But big.

  4. Ian Cobb says:

We have a very desperate team to play tomorrow night. And we better bring our a game to it.

The Hab.s played with some energy and enthusiasm this evening for a change.

The one play that got my goat was the penalty to PK for embellishing the can opener, when he had a whole lot of speed coming out of his end. Very disappointed in the call.

The other was the high stick to Gill, which was seen but not called.
Just two calls that were incorrect for the Habs side. I did see a couple that we got away with also.

You know the speed of the game has doubled, but the weakest part of the game in the NHL today, that has not kept up to the changing game, is the refereeing.

    • The Cat says:

I agree with you on the refereeing Ian, I dont know about your neck of the woods but even at the minor league level here the refs -this year especially- were just brutal. It seems theres a steady decline.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  5. shuttle-lemaire-lafleur says:

Not a great game, but a very big win…thank you once again Carey Price…YOU are the SYSTEM !!…2 very big points !!

  6. JohnBellyful says:

Has this happened to anyone else? Click on a thumb’s up and the number goes up by two, even three. (And, no, I’ve never clicked on my own). It just happened now, when I clicked a thumb’s up that was 6 and it went up to 9. I can’t imagine two other people clicking at exactly that same time so either the system is wonky … or I’m an HIO Person of Substanial Influence. A Power Broker. A Poster More Equal Than Others. A Guy Who Needs to Get a Grip.
Hmmm. I wonder. Should I … dare I … click Thumbs Up? No, I am made of sterner stuff. I’ll phone Punkster.

    • punkster says:

Don’t ask me, when I hit thumbs up the thumbs down count increases.

      ***Subbang Baby!!!***

    • ooder says:

well since the thumbs up and down don’t refresh automatically, when you went to thumb up you saw an old value.
so you saw 6, while 2 people already thumbed up.
so when you thumbed up it refreshed it and went up to 9 (the other 2 people and you)
sorry to burst your bubble about you thinking your important 😉
      GWG = game winning gionta!

      • JohnBellyful says:

Now I feel like a jerk sending out that e-mail to all my co-workers telling them I’m a Blog God. Your explanation wasn’t very refreshing. But thanks anyway. I’m a wiser person for it.
Do you know why the sky is blue? (In daytime, of course)

        • ooder says:

sorry buddy… all my other worldly IT knowledge finally becomes useful 🙂
do enlighten me about the sky please
          GWG = game winning gionta!

  7. Danno says:

Good luck to Bill McCreary. But it takes a lot of class for Price to shake the hand of the ref who missed the call that cost him another shutout and almost cost us the game. Too bad Bill didn’t retire a game earlier.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  8. G-Man says:

Habs win and the Negative Nellies are out in force. Of course there is no “real” value in this win (they argue), because it wasn’t Washington or Philly or…..well screw it. A win is a win is a win. The team played well, Price played like a rock and they took 2 points without giving 1 away.
    On to Carolina.

2011 is the Year of the Hab (can I still say that?)

  9. JohnBellyful says:

Too bad a brutal non-call and Sopel’s futile pass blocking cost Price his shutout. I don’t speak French so what were the officials saying after the goal? Who’s goin’ to explain this one to the boss? I know the league orders are to job the Habs as much as we can, just not so obviously. We can expect a call in the morning

  10. habs001 says:

if the pp does not produce no chance vs any top team…atlanta 24th team in the nhl and we are life and death to beat them…

  11. Big Ted says:

Here’s the rule on linesmen calling back goals for a double-minor high stick… so they COULD have disallowed the goal, unlike what McCreary and Rehman told Muller when they said it was impossible to reverse the call:

    Rule 60

Should a Linesman witness a foul (above) committed by an attacking player or goalkeeper (undetected by the Referees) prior to the attacking team scoring a goal, the Linesman shall report what he witnessed to the Referees, the goal shall be disallowed and the appropriate penalty assessed.

  12. novahab says:

Anderson Cooper has a show on CNN called keepng then honest. I think the refs should have to face the press after every game to keep them honest. Better the Montreal Gazette should have one reporter to investigate Campbell and the other crooks and expose them. This is another disgrace by the refs in this league.

weird anti-sexual assult PSA on RDS

    • JIMVINNY says:

Disturbing, to say the least. Not sure if it’s going to have it’s intended effect.

      • PeriodPain says:

I mean a bunch of hands LITERALLY grabbing a guys junk for 30 seconds!!!!

        • HardHabits says:

The worst is that it’s in two parts. The second part is the same imagery but it’s supposed to be after the fact. Tonight the two parts were separated by about an hour an a half.

Last game they played the 1st part, then a Burger King commercial which was all about yummy grunt grunt meat and right after the BK ad they played the part two of the anti-sexual assult PSA.

Talk about ringing Pavlov’s bell!!! No wonder they separated the two slots by about 10-15 commercials tonight.

Who would want to be the meat in that advertising sandwich?

    • HabinBurlington says:

i think weird may be an understatement, bizzaro!

  14. Jdub1515 says:

i love how boone has to make a conscience effort to show how “great” gomez was tonite. He makes 8 mil, plays on the 1st line and gets 18 plus min a nite. If he ain’t atleast good every nite, theres a prob. tom pyatt has great games once in a while too but he make 600 k, p[lays on the 4rth line and gets 8 min a nite. I expect our top players always play well, not great jus well. I dont need to be reminded how wrong i was to ever mention hes an overated player cause he worked hard tonite.

  15. petrov14 says:

    Long live Captain Gionta.

  16. HabinBurlington says:

Hamrlik looked exhausted before his first shift back in October.

  33. Shiloh says:

Where’s Eller and Kostitsyn? The Count has been protecting a lead for 2/3 of the game.

  34. hansolo says:

don’t you guys get tired of bashing the coach..

second place is just the first loser

  36. christophor says:

Please not another shutout for the Flopper, especially after Price’s was stolen

  37. Jdub1515 says:

a refs job in the new NHL is to call ANY play that can be called a penalty but actual has no effect on the game in giving either team a competitive advantage ie hook on a player in the offensive zone. So if/when the pp team scores, the ref has had an influence on the game that is larger then the individuals who are actually getting paid millions to decide the outcome have. But when a play that does effect a scoring opportunity or goal and by definition is a penalty ie. high stick to the face that allows a 2 on 1 and goal, the ref has no job to call it because hes looking for the off man to clutch or grab or do something meaningless to the game so they can call a post lockout penalty, not a real one. but then theres the makeup call which is on its own disgusting because the ref is now admitting that he has made a mistake and further personally influencing the outcome by calling something they otherwise wouldnt. it in itself completely devalues the integrity of the game in which the ref surmises that theyve already effed it up enough ie see above, so who really cares at this point. paycheck well earned guys!

and we pay who millions do decide hockey games?

  38. HabinBurlington says:

The NHL is no different than Boxing, Don King is now running this league

  41. doogie says:

Why am I getting that uneasy feeling about this one? Anyone got some antacids?

  42. rbby_habs says:

I thought the habs were suppose to be a FAST skating team??? They’ve look slow. Actually, they’ve looked slow the last 10 games.

  43. habs001 says:

i just cannot take martin anymore…hammer and mara on the pp…

  44. novahab says:

Mara on the powerplay and refs didn’t miss that one .All I can say is hire Roy on now before this team misses the playoffs.

  45. Well guys, we wasted 3/4 of the PP, might as well through Subban out there as Mara takes a penalty. JM needs to wake the f*** up with the PP already.

  46. sidhu says:

Slashing the stick out of someone’s hands should not be a penalty. It should only be a penalty if the stick breaks.

  47. JasonM says:

Mara on the PP, good call Martin.
