Anyone for a little uplift?

Video scout Jarred Friedman found this classic:

(Did Steve Perry patronize Scott Hartnell’s stylist?)

  1. 24 Cups says:

Great tune, Mike. Quite timely. The headmaster might want to check out “Rock of Ages” which stars Yvan Pedneault. He sings the song “Don’t Stop Believin'” as part of the show.

I wonder what kind of hockey player Pedneault is? We could use a good kid from Quebec right now who can pop a few goals.

  2. Robert L says:

Curious that Detroit is mentioned in the song, and we’re eliminated last night!

  3. Robert L says:

Steve, Pednault is about 5′ 3”, is you’ve ever met him.

  4. soperman says:

It is a great tune and very inspirational but I hope no Habs fan needs to be inspired to believe in this team.  While they are not guaranteed success, they will come out and play a heck of a game.  It has been a few years since I thought that about the Habs.  I’m a Believer (The Monkees)

“Pusie possessed a wickedly wild shot, so inaccurate that he could not hit the province of Quebec if he was standing inside the Montreal Forum.” Dick Beddoes

  5. longtimehabsfan says:

People in the HIO community:  It’s been an incredible rollercoaster ride this year and I can’t imagine it ending.  If it does tomorrow night, my thanks to all posters and, of course, the great work done by Boone, Stubbs, Hickey, Mio, etc.

  6. MikeMcLaren says:

Woah, woah, woah!  What sort of attitude is that?  Do you think the players in the room are saying that to each other?  “It’s been good, but if we don’t win this game…”

    No IF.  Just win!

    Keep the faith!

  7. Fansincebirth says:

I believe in this team, win or lose.

“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden

  8. Shublips says:

Again, I was not impressed by the Pens.  They looked slow and tired.  The Habs did not get enough bodies to the net and did not win battles to loose pucks and rebounds.

THAT is why they lost and not just because Fleury was great.  Habs made his life easy!

Habs can win, Monday and force Game Seven. Go Habs Go!

  9. 24 Cups says:

Robert – Perfect, he’ll fit right in:-)

  10. Robert L says:

    He’ll be hard to elbow.

Funny thing, he Dick Irvin and Frank Selke, all about the same height!

  11. Plek-Andrew says:

Steve Perry has to be one of the best all-time singers…

  12. DearyLeary says:

Ew, Journey.  You’ve just sealed our fate.  God damn do I hate Journey.

  13. Deano says:

You know Deary, that’s your biggest problem … you are stuck in the 60s.  You are older that dinosaur dung.

Robert L. found this parody of the league’s promo series.

  1. SlovakHab says:

    How much I miss Desjardins

  2. solsub says:

That video actually gave me goosebumps.

  3. MikeL says:

same here. I thought it was legit at first haha.

  4. oshawahabsfan says:

Great video, remember watching that game as a kid. Surely wasn’t the last time one could ask, what if Marty wasn’t an idiot.

  5. TommyB says:

Well done!  First time I ran it, I laughed out loud at the parody.  When I watched the second time, I got goosebumps.  Seventeen years ago already, but in my heart it still feels like yesterday.  LOVED the shot of the Habs bench with a suit-and-tie Jacques who did know how to get some mileage out of his players.  And um, oh yeah, the masked guy with the big pads helped a bit too.

  6. Highspeed969 says:

    This was awesome!

  7. Steve in Kingston says:

    Now THAT is funny.

We probably all remember where we were and who we were with when…

Nothing to do with hockey, but a great commercial (tip of the HIO tuque to chief video scout Jarred Friedman).

Either bar those schmucks from the building or rename it the Jolson Centre.

Two games do not a season make – especially a season that’s been as screwy as this one.

But the Canadiens looked great last night, and the sun is shining in Montreal.

Pittsburgh-Philadelpia then Jets-Colts then Vikes-Saints.

Life is good!

And video scout Jarred Friedman thinks this classic captures the mood …
