Canadiens prospect Brendan Gallagher is all smiles after a good outing Sunday.
Stubbs video grab
• AUDIO: Coach Jacques Martin’s full news briefing after Sunday practice/scrimmage
• EDITED AUDIO: Martin’s 3:13 primer on his training camp: goals and philosophy
So if you had big money on Team C in the Canadiens’ Sunday scrimmage… you’re laughing now.
Andreas Engqvist scored the winner with 40 or so seconds left on the clock in Brossard, giving C a 5-4 win over Team A before a standing-room-only crowd at the Bell Sports Complex.
Mathieu Darche scored twice for the winners, while Alex Henry and an impressive Brendan Gallagher had singles. Alexander Avtsin, Alain Berger, Tomas Plekanec and Erik Cole had goals for the losing squad.
Gallagher was especially impressive today, far from the biggest man on the ice but one noticed for his shifty moves and large heart.
P.K. Subban and Ryan White, nursing minor injuries, did not take part in the scrimmage for their respective teams.
The first cuts come Monday after the final scrimmage in Brossard.
Give a listen to Jacques Martin’s media briefing, as linked above. The head coach is especially good talking about the four phases of his team’s camp, what the expectations are and how individual attention is paid to players in such a large camp.
Sunday scrimmage summary:

Brendan Gallagher reminds me of a Guy Rouleau from the 80′s who played for the Hull Olympiques with Luc Robitaille and led the QMJHL in overall points by storm and we drafted him.
A small but very skilled forward that never gotten the chance to play with the the Canadiens.
So I don’t see Gallagher at all playing for the big club and Danny Kristo as well in the future.
The kids are just too small in today’s NHL.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
Sometimes you try too hard in your trolling.
In “today’s NHL”, smaller players have more opportunity. A decade ago, it was about size; now, it’s primarily about the skill again.
Just so you know, Crosby, Parise, Kane, Giroux, St. Louis, Skinner (a “kid” who won the Calder last year at age 18) and not to mention our own Cammalleri, and Gionta are all under six feet tall. I’d say they’ve all done okay.
Gallagher is at least 3 or 4 inches smaller than some of the players you mentioned which means a lot.
If he is looking to utilize his size and skills to his advantage, the only way he will succeed his play in the Italian or Swiss league if that once he graduates from the WHL. There’s money there where he can play comfortably for a good 10 years or so.
Remember Corey Locke? We all forgot about him and he had just as much skill to go along with being an inch more on Gallagher.
Sad to say, we can’t expect much of our prospects if we keep drafting smaller players and break their spirits when the organization then drops them off the radar.
Our organization were gambling on the kid when we drafted him a hoping he would grow in height but that is not the case, he is still 5-8 which is small in stature.
You can’t have many small forwards in today’s NHL. Look at previous Cup winners and you sill see that the bigger the team is, the more they will succeed.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
Is there some way that I can watch any of the scrimmage(s) on line?
How did Gomez get hurt? Comment related to yesterday’s article. We add some beef to the Dogs in the Fitz to “look after some of our prspescts”. What about some beef to look after the big team? BTW if the Fitz is on a one way contract can he be bought up to the Habs during the season?
Mr. Biter
Gomez hurt his leg in the practice before the scrimmage first day…how??
Fitz is under an AHL contract with the Bulldogs and cannot be brought up to Montreal unless they sign him to an NHL contract which I don’t see happening. In other words he belongs to the Bulldogs and is not Montreal property.
Thanks.
Mr. Biter
What’s with the ‘Y’ in Emelin? When/how did that start and when will it end? Friggin’ annoyin’.

you are being tested my son.
and it’s annoying because?
it’s the translated spelling, not to mention he has indicated that he prefers to have it with the Y.
How does it translate on his jersey?

Since before you others did ask about the same thing, here’s a brief explanation (wikipedia has it in a concise form):
Ye (Е е; italics: Е е) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet.
Ukrainian uses the letter Ukrainian Ye (Є є) in this way.
At the beginning of a word or after a vowel, Ye represents the combination /je/ or /jɛ/, like the pronunciation of ‹ye› in “yes”.
So it makes sense to spell it with a “Y” in English for correct pronunciation.
BTW Malkin’s first name Evgeni falls under the same rule of pronunciation.
Ali B.
I used to live in Togliattii, Russia (where Kovalev and the Lada are from), and speak Russian, so I feel I need to chime in here.
In Russian, there are two “E”s in their alphabet. They are written different (one like ours, one like ours but backwards), and they have different sounds.
The first “E” is written like the roman “E”, precisely the same, however it adopts a “Ye” sound, as in yesterday or yelp. For example, “Evgeni” Malkin, is actually pronounced “Yevgeni” as some of you may have noticed.
The second “E” is written like a backwards “E” (literally like looking at and E in the mirror but with slightly rounded egdes) and it pronounded like an English “E” ass in egg, empower, or elm.
So, in the case of our raging tank Emelin, you need to know which Russian “E” they use to start his family name in Russia. In all likelihood it will be the first “E” as Russian family names don’t start with the second “E”, which would transfer into Yemelin by English translation. Just to be sure, here’s a Russian website mention the tank: http://news.sportbox.ru/Vidy_sporta/Hokkej/NHL/spbnews_Emelin-gotov-k-sezonu-NHL

When it is all said & done & the dust has settled, June of 2012 Lord Stanley’s Mug will be paraded down St.Catharines Sreet. The Cup will come back home to MONTREAL, QC.
We have a team this season that will take it all …
unless we get scored on first in the first pre-season game
Then all is lost
Yeah EH … The Bell Centre Idiots will be callin for Carey’s head!
Surprisingly optimistic for someone who was calling the Bos-Mtl series over after game 5. And someone who called Price a sieve. Just sayin’
Prove it Rubber Duckie!
I may have said the series was over BUT not because of Price.
Paste the coment about Price for me to see.
Go on now … Chop Chop …
I don’t care enough to search archives for your post-season rants. And I don’t have to prove anything anyways, you and I both know.
I remember it as well. Pretty much par for the course from him. He’s had like half a dozen profiles here. Pretty sad.
Well Kid, if U can’t back up your Smack then just keep quiet!
What are next week-end’s 6/49 numbers?
If I knew that, they would not be for U …. LOL ….
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I’m pretty freaking excited to see Emelin…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZTNNLw5_-g
He looks like he really knows how to land a hit. That’s something we’ve been missing for a while.
Pacioretty actually looked really good at the start of the video too. Didn’t look afraid and looked as fast as ever.
Man, i am so sick of all that prospect talk. When is the first pre-season game? Sometimes hockey withdrawal is good… right now it is bad.
I saw this thing on TV of some guy trying to find real life superheros. They found some guy in Finland who was some kind of sauna champion or something but they said his skin disperses heat better than the average person. I mention this because his name was Timo.
Lots of people in Finland named Timo or Timmo. Back when I was younger I used to listed to this Finish melodic metal band called Stratovarius. Front man and lead guitar dudes were Timo’s.
So what you’re telling me is you’re not a superhero…
I am a super villain.

I love Eller’s attitude. I really liked how he played in the playoffs and I hope he picks up his game and improves from there. When I see him play like that I think he has 2nd line potential, but unfortunately most of last season was a different story.
What a dumb call against him in the video though.
Briere is a disgusting little puke.
Yemmy the Tank. Body wise he reminds me of a taller Andrei Kovalenko. God that guy had it all… and did barely anything with it…
Here’s hoping Yemmy the Tank sticks and keeps playing just like that. I’m hoping he contains the beast enough to avoid useless PIMs, but let’s it out on occasion to put the fear into anybody that gets close to Pricey.
With PK and Yemmy around and a guy like Tinordi in the pipe, it could get mighty uncomfortable for the Lecavaliers of the world to hang in Tim Kerr’s office.
Here’s hoping. But that first outing by chubs was a nice preview of coming attractions… Keep at it kid!

Hey has anyone noticed in both Gallagher and Cammy’s video, some douchewad reporter with a Franco accent (not implying anything there by the way) seems fixated on the size issue? Can anyone confirm that’s actually the same reporter? I mean, get some new material…Sheesh. The smurf thing was old twelve months ago.
I know the guy you’re referring to and I dislike him whoever he is. I’ve heard him ask stupid questions before in other interviews.
What are you implying by the statement that I should not infer that you are implying anything?

Is it upside down?
double post
So this years squad faces the difficutlty of having graduated alot of our younger talent from Hamilton to Montreal during the year. This appears to be only a temporary issue as we have many young players who seem set to play well in Hamilton this year and we can then have the luxury of having some quality callups available to us next year.
In the meantime we have the potential of quiet surprise in Yemelin who appears to provide all the grit Komisarek used to (Pre Lucic) while also being a better skater with better hands.
Hopefully 1 or 2 other youngsters can make an impression on JM as that is the key. If JM believes in the kid not only will it give the kid a chance, but it takes alot to get JM’s confidence.
Lets hope Yemelin, Woywitka and perhaps Diaz can provide a stop gap while we wait on Markov’s rehab. Once Markov does return, our Defence appears to have Skill, Speed and some much needed Grit.
We are almost there everyone!
We do have a dip in talent for call ups due to the graduating players as you mention. However PG seemed to have addressed this by getting Willsie, Blundon and Woywitka.
Good thing Gomez worked out over the summer. Otherwise his groin pull would have been mid-season.
I blame you guy’s with all this “tweaking” talk. Now we have players tweaking their groins, tweaking their backs, when will it end??
the only thing Gomez needs to tweak is his game!
- Gomez is holding down the “overpaid” button

Good article, thanks for posting.
I think the Habs will soon be more truculent then the Leafs on the back end, Subban, Yemelin, Tinordi.
Galagher up front is a Gionta/Cammalleri clone.

Excellent article, could not have put it better myself, thanks for the post HabFab
I just watched the Gallagher video. How can you not like this kid and the way he presents himself?
He’s probably going back to junior and then might spend two years in Hamilton. Gionta will be the perfect role model for him as time goes by.
Agree it’s impossible not to like Gallagher from that video. Just a wide-eyed kid trying his hardest.
Not sure Gio will have the opportunity to be the perfect role model for him though if he goes back to junior and then spends two years in Hamilton, as that will be when Gio’s contract with the Habs ends. Unless he re-signs of course.
- Honestly yours
I agree, seems like a good kid. Hope he makes the big team some day.
Reading the score card is interesting;
Yemelin and Willsie lead the Whites with 3 SOG’s each. Was curious how the old pro Willsie was doing.
And AK led his team with 6 shots. One of the RDS people had commented that he was invisible today. Six shots, two assists and he was invisible…where is the love?
AK was invisible to RDS because they don’t even watch him, they just like to hate on him.
So true.

There were some questions about Kristo not being at camp;
NCAA players (US College) cannot be paid nor their costs be paid to attend professional team’s training camps including the development camps. They have to pay their own costs.
If they miss classes, they are in danger of having their academic standing compromised (lose ability to play and their scholarships).
Players from the ECAC only (Ivy League or Eastern division of the NCAA) don’t start classes until next week so may attend as long as they pay their own expenses like Dustin Walsh who is in his third camp.
Two more sleeps and we get to watch a hockey game on the telly…am so excited!!
Ditto!

Yup he wasn’t. Given his play since he left, I am glad he decided to walk and go to the only other team I dislike as much the Bruins.

I have a hard time remembering why we wanted to keep him in the first place. Yes, he was one of the only big bodies on our team. AND he was a decent shot blocker… but aside from that he has cement hands and isnt exactly the smoothest skater out there….
Call Detroit tell them bullsh!t!
@Johab, your memory serves you well. Those were pretty much the reasons and probably because he was our first round pick. His desire to play physically was pretty much gone after that Lucic fight.

I think Markov making him look good is the reason he got the big contract from Burke
Nah, Burke has an ego and he wanted to stick it to Gainey. Just look at his stupid comments in the USA Today diary he kept about the Craig Rivet trade…That caused Gainey tons of grief right after his daughter died. Burke’s a classless blowhard.
+1 also I can’t help but think that Burke saw it as a bonus to deprive us of one of our “important” players in the process. Can’t say it enough, I love how that worked out for him!

No Hab fan can point a critical finger at Komisarek in light of the fact that G&G tried to re-sign him. Same goes for Kovy. Both these guys were (in theory) important parts of Gainey’s 2nd rebuild.
Maybe, however since the Komisarek situations worked out in the Leafs “favour” I can’t but be glad that the outcome is what it is.
The Kovy situation is one that is much more complicated IMO. As everyone knows, he was an enigma but no one can deny that he had a following in Montreal.

I was part of the Kovalev camp admittedly but was turned off by him after his production “magically” flourished when a trade from Ottawa was on the horizon. Good riddance to you sir!

It’s funny how it goes. If Kovy signs with Montreal, there would be no Gionta (who would be captain?).
There’s no way Kovalev would be as bad as he was in Ottawa if he had stayed with Montreal. However, you have to wonder how he would have hit it off with Martin.
I doubt Kovy would have been able to co-exist with JM.
IMO the Komi and Kovy situation ultimately worked out to the benefit of this team.

In any case, I now understand what Gainey was trying to do when he blew up the team and rebuilt it around the idea of chemistry, signing proven players with skill AND heart. No way would we have had that with Kovalev, and certainly not with him wearing the ‘C’. Time and time again I’ve heard journalists refer to the Habs locker room as “the tightest group they have seen in many years.” We are on the right track with this team. Let’s drop the puck already!!

Hey guys
Long time reader, first time poster:)
Originally from Montreal but have been living in Vancouver since the last time the Habs won the Stanley Cup (so I didn’t get to go to the parade). I’ve gone to a few Vancouver Giants games and have had the pleasure of seeing this kid in action. He is dynamite! Pure heart, goes to the dirty areas despite his size and can score like a machine. Sign him up for the big leagues already! Otherwise I’m content watching him make life a nightmare around the opposing team’s goal crease here for another year;) Go Habs Go!

I think you’ll be fortunate enough to watch him for another season. I wish he could move up to the AHL for a bigger challenge. I don’t know if another year in the WHL will be that beneficial for him, but oh well at least you can enjoy watching him progress
I’ve also watched Gallagher a few times and he’s always been impressive, very noticeable
Really impressed with Gallagher’s interview. Handled himself better than many NHL veteran’s I’ve seen. And apparently he can play too!!

Danny Kristo isnt at camp, because NCAA prospects lose their eligibility if they receive money (or servies/items in lieu of money, such as trips/camps/airfair/ etc).
This is also why guys like Mac Bennet, and Morgan Ellis aren’t here. On the other hand you have a guy like Dustin Walsh. Who, although I don’t know the details either paid his own way or had the school pay his way.
Thanks.
Morgan Ellis is there.
I think his season starts later and he is covering all his own costs.
25 in 2012
That really really sucks for them, these camps seem like invaluable experience for recruits.
when all think alike, no one is thinking very much
Morgan Ellis is not a college player so he will be at the camp until released
Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Danny Kristo and why he isn’t at camp??
SF09 can give you a more precise answer, but I believe it’s because the NCAA season has already started.
Yeah SF09 will be able to give the best answer but I also think NCAA prospects also have to pay for their way over to the camp. Because I mean CHL is also starting up too
Correct, I believe the most important reason is that classes at most collages/universities have started. Don’t think the NCAA is keen on kids skipping a few weeks of classes to come to camp. As others have stated the players would have to pay their way, however that hasn’t stopped other NCAA players who attended late starting schools from coming to camp.
Case in point, Walsh is in camp as an NCAA player, the reason being that he goes to Dartmouth. Dartmouth uses a trimester academic calendar, fall classes start next week.
Loving the positive reports on Avtsin so far, I always say you want to have a couple Russian sticks in your system, nobody knows how to handle a puck like they do.

SF09 on Twitter
Yeah, I also felt the positive in his interview, saying how he is training to do better in his 2nd AHL season, instead of just wanting NHL asap without being ready for it.
2 scrimmages, 2 goals = not bad!
Here is hoping he can harness all that talent and becomes the player we want to see.
The fact that so many people here judged Emelin based on one picture shows how little so many posters here know about fitness… yet they have no trouble giving their 2cents. Love handles or abs are diet dependent and not strength and conditioning…
As for pure strength, it has to do with your bone and structure, bigger bones, wider shoulders individuals will be naturally stronger than their counterparts.
The fact that the coaching staff did not let anyone with any form of discomfort play shows me all positive. I see so much praise for Gallagher, but the fact Astvin scored yesterday and today doesnt seem to mean much… very unbiased indeed.
So what if people give their first impressions. Were you rubbing your hands together when you saw Yemelin’s roles? I wasn’t. It’s great that a porky guy can throw his weight around but we’ll see how good his endurance is in October. In fact he could even lose the fat by playing the more intense NHL season. Nobody has to be an expert in strength and conditioning like you seem to be to be able to have our own opinion. But please, go ahead and continue to shit all over the other people who post here for giving OPINIONS on a comment section for a BLOG.
Porky? you got to be joking? If that is porky i duno what most overweight/obese people are (which by the way is over 1 third the population in NA…)
Have you seen how boxers look like in the plus 200 pounds? Thats not exactly fat, under there there is all the muscle that someone ripped will have, and the fat is a layer of protection.
I didnt critique people for lack of knowledge, i critiqued because they automatically jumped the wagon and questioned his hockey skills.
Actually you did critique people’s lack of fitness knowledge.
If that’s the part of my post you don’t like; Ok porky may not have been the best description but my image of porky is just some roles and love handles, i’m not talking “holy hell I don’t want to get up off my chair to take a crap” kind of fat.
But really this is what happens in the off season. Someone breathes the word setback and people think it means re-injured. I can’t disagree that questioning his skills by seeing his pooch is a stretch, but I have no problem with people being a little let down that he didn’t look like AK, Pacioretty or Gionta coming into the camp. I mean who wouldn’t rather have the hulk rather than mr. stay puft?
No surprises that Team C wins or is at least competive, they have 7 of our 13 forwards on their roster.
Team C is made up of mostly 3rd and 4th lines… which should kinda matter IMO, shows that we likely have good scoring depth this year.
Stubbs ” and an impressive Brendan Gallagher “.
Been touting this prospect since he was drafted. Pencil this guy in as one of the steals of the draft by the HABS.
He will make the big club before many bigger higher draft picks. I am thinking Mario Tremblay, Darcy Tucker, even Carbonneau type player… although Carbo was maybe a tad too smooth a skater for him to aspire to.
No way Trinifan, I’ll claim him as my discovery. As soon as he was drafted I asked my buddy, whose son plays Junior A and attended camps with lots of the guys now on Major Junior rosters, about Gallagher. He was very complimentary about him as a player and a person, and confirmed the reports about him being a strength and conditioning coach’s son, a kid who’s small but has a big heart, shows leadership and works relentlessly both on and off the ice. A nice warm feeling ensued, and he became my favourite. He’s mine, not yours.

How about it NHL? No fighting, just hockey?

Wouldn’t that make him your buddy’s then? Lol talking about him like hes a pet. Avtsin could turn out to be a steal too.
LOL! Think we both WIN with this guy in HABS future!
No way I scouted him when he was a baby and hadn’t even strapped on hockey skates, shut up Gallagher is mine!
I don’t want another Darcy Tucker….
I don’t see Gallagher breaking into the league as a checking forward.
Gotta disagree with you re Darcy Tucker.. we gave up on him too early.
Probably because he was a disgrace to the jersey and a coke head.

so after tucker started fights with, and lost to koivu and boullion, in practice, which of his other teamates should he have gotten his a$$ beat by before we “gave up” on him?

Team C has a good combination of spunk and big bodies.
On Gomez: he is being given a chance at redemption but Eller or DD are ready to step up now. Either is adequate and both are improving. If he’s got a chronic issue like a back problem, I wish they would just take care of it with surgery and let the team move on. By the way, I have said it before when some idiot spoke about converting Pacs to defense, I also think he has what it takes to be a number one centre.
To anyone that was at the scrimmage.
How was the goaltending today?
We have a well balanced D and forwards this year, but it’s hard for anyone to argue that this team is going to live and die by their goaltending.
Game over, Engqvist made it 5-4 for a Red (Team C) victory.
Avtsin for Whites and Gallagher for Reds 4-4.
so its 3-3 goals by darche and cole
i know this sounds bad, but i hope gomez’s injury is more severe and than we can get his 7.5 mil contract off the books and look for somebody else to fill that hole.
Gomez is ours for this season. PG would have to pay thru the nose for a replacement at this time of the season.
it does sound bad. Lets just give him a fresh chance it’s a new season you never know. I remember not too long ago a lot of fans wanted Pleks shipped out.
And Carey Price
Any word on what and how severe Pk’s and White’s injuries are? This is ridiculous … Season hasn’t even started yet and we have 5-6 roster Players injured !
PK is back spasms I believe and White is groin tweak…nothing major. Markov, Leblanc, Eller and Fortier are recovering from major surgeries. Gomez is lower body (groin?) and Nattinen don’t know.
EDIT: Gomez is his leg and Nattinen is his groin.
Back spasms AINT good period! Can be signs of developing long term problems with back/trunk. Should be addressed immediately.. as to the causes.
a) Not enough stretching included in workout regimen.
b) Stretching while cold. Worse thing I see people at GYM do is walk in off the street and go right to ABS/Weights or start
And yes big time dedicated athletes are guilty of it too even within the environment of highly supervised and professional team workout centres… heck sometimes even the ‘trainers’ do it.
c)Poor position while doing some exercises among which are lift /jerk/clean variations, pull ups, and ball-routine abs.
Now before your snarky responses about so many experts being available to these players think of how easy it is to ‘go away’ from proper techniques while doing REPS and especially HEAVY REPS which these athletes do. They dont do it intentionally or neglectfully.. just a lapse in vigilance while concentration is focussed on the POWER aspect of the exercise.
It is obvious that Subban, like many other HABS, is a workout-freak and therefore I hope that any back-spasms are taken seriously and he, his trainer and the habs brass respond with more vigilance to the requirement of maintaining proper core-butt technique.
It is a VERY VERY easy aspect of training to let slip.
Gotta go.. Dr. Rechhi head trauma seminar starting.
Good post. Nice line at the end, too
Jameson, you have been spending way too much time in the hospital and around doctors as it has rubbed off. Glad to see you back
Henry for the Reds and Berger for the Whites. 2-2 after 30 minutes.
Scott Gomez, Andrei Markov, Louis Leblanc, PK Subban, Lars Eller, Ryan White, Olivier Fortier and Joonas Nattinen are injured at the camp.
EDIT; Brendon Nash and Andrew Conboy are also suffering some sort of injury. Nattinen is a groin and Gomez is his leg.
This is depressing. I realize most are slated to be ready for the reg. season start, but depressing nonetheless.
- Honestly yours
1-1 after 10 minutes. Pleks for Whites and Darche for Reds.
10:30 at complexe sportif Bell. In the line up to watch the intra game. About 300th in the line up. Been here since 9:20. Freaking warm here outside of the stands. Everyone is sweating. Very very crowded. Can feel the excitement in the air. Doors opening at 10:50 to sit in the stands. Definitely a full house + a couple of hundreds. News reporters box is packed. Team cameramen are filming already. If u have any questions pls feel free to ask!
as much as i am excited about yemelin
reaching these conclusions about him based on a scrimmage is somehow, and i gotta say well done HIO readers, stupider than the outrage over price’s play in the pre-season last year
congrats to all
now im not saying he isnt what were all hopin he is, but “chill out” cuts both ways
Good post but way too much logic for the masses! Just saying
A lot of praise for sure for a guy that was a consensus “fat lazy pig” just 2 days ago on here. I’ll still be optimistic about him though and time will tell for sure.
no doubt
Fat lazy pig is so harsh!…one fan called him a bag of milk.
That was pretty funny
I guess I was just paraphrasing what the actual comments were, but that was the gist of the comments I was reading from the over reactors.
No need to backpedal, it was funny and he’s no washboard. It’s the truth. But hey some fat people can play hockey, we’ll see how this one does
How can we be expected to get properly depressive after every miniscule setback if you won’t let us be fully manic now?
Do you get the feeling Yemelin will be a eye opening pleasant surprise! As for the questions by the media in the Yemelin interview, you may have well have asked “Are you happy to have left the crappy KHL”. Man have a little class and act like you been around the block if not outside your front door? Are you trying to make him go back home?
Emelin destroying everything that moves. Is it too early to nickname him tank?
That nickname may still belong to Andrei Kovalenko, wherever he is.
Must “the morning after” reading in HIO during the upcoming season.
When Pouliot scores first hat-trick for Beantown.
SK 2nd game-winning goal coincides with AK’s second Russian Reporter Interview.
Price pulled and Budaj stones them the rest of the way.
The Wiz on a tear and Markov still nursing a tear.
P.K. benched.. replaced by Diaz.
Tony Marinaro reports that Gill threw a towel at Yemelin!
This a repeat from a couple of weeks ago but we will be seeing cuts soon.
WAIVER WATCH
The following players have to clear waivers this season; Desharnais, Pacioretty, Weber and White as opposed to last season (4th year pro).
Eller and Subban are the only players that do not require to clear waivers on the present roster listed at canadiens.com .
The following players listed as prospects have to clear waivers; Blunden, Henry, Lawson, Trotter, Willsie and Woywitka.
None of the 4th year pros nor the prospect players have to clear re-entry waivers
Hope we dont lose Woywitka under any circumstances for a while anyways… too much draft pedigree. Need to nurse him to regained confidence and see what we have.
Rest of ‘prospects’ listed fall under category of “no harm done” if we lose them.
i believe if the habs forwards goal scoring is to improve from last year it will be on the shoulders of 3 forwards…cole, camm and maxpac…the other forwards goal totals combined will not be much different from last year…
For us to be successful we also need more scoring from the 3rd line. Will be disappointed if Eller and DD don’t double their last year’s combined 15 goals.
that would be good…i believe camm has the best chance to really raise his goal totals from last year ..i think he can go from 19 to the thirties…
habsinsideout1Dave Stubbs
“Gazette Sports pages today in 1931: Beer as a health food yfrog.com”.
Best Stubbs “tweet” of the year and it aint even the year yet!
(rotalty check on way to Pierre)
No minute-by-minute updates? What’s up with that? You guys DO know you’re dealing with a bunch of addicts who are hockey-starved after a long summer, right?
C’mon Stubbs, you’re better than that!
- Honestly yours
Keep an eye on Stubb’s twitter.
LOL – literally just signed up for twitter moments ago and searching all the Habs-related stuff right now.
Can you (or anyone) confirm if @HabsBlogger is really Boone’s account?
Also, does Carey have a twitter account?? I’m not seeing the blue checkmark by any of the Carey Price twitter accounts.
- Honestly yours
Yes, that is Boone but haven’t seen much activity. I have never seen any thing from Carey. If you click twitter up above, you can then check out who Stubbs follows. And over on EYOP they have a twitter section showing updated Habs, Canadiens org and some prospects twits. Don’t have it myself, I just check those out.
LOL – I didn’t even want to sign up but figured I had to to see tweets. Oh well, what’s done is done.
Thank you for the info!

RDS should be showing these scrimmage games and off ice workouts live.
LOL!
Are we THERE YET?
There as in Puck drop .. game ONE… Subbie rush 1.
Actually that could be a fun exercise.
What are you salivating for most now?
A Subbie rush? A Price glove save? A Cole goal not against the HABS LOL? A Yemelin “Hello world Hit”? A Max Pac anything?
Or best of all.. A JM Scribble in his mint new notepad?
OOOPS! How could I forget… A Boone ‘live blogging gem” as in “vague chemistry” line.
Getting up to a morning coffee and reading “about last night” that mentions all those things would feel just about right.
Topped off by a 4-2 score for the GOOD GUYS of course! With GOMEZ a minus -3(somehow) and the HIO commentary in full throated Gomez furor!
Aaaahhh glorious habs hockey! The Good Bad and Ugly of life!
Coffee, now that sounds like a plan!
