Spacek surgery goes well

Jaroslav Spacek underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee yesterday in Pensacola, Fla. and the prognosis is that he will be able to resume playing in 3-5 weeks.

“The good news is that will have him back before the end of the regular season,” said coach Jacques Martin.

The Canadiens held an optional morning skate with about a dozen players on the ice. Scott Gomez was among the missing but he will play tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Lightning coach Guy Boucher said his team faces a number of game-time decisions. Vinnie Lecavalier (mid-body) and Marc-AndrĂ© Bergeron (back spasms) both skated this morning but neither is certain to play. Mattias Ritolla, who was expected to play with Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos, is out with the flu and an ankle injury has sidelined tough guy Steve Downie indefinitely.
