Jaroslav Spacek underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee yesterday in Pensacola, Fla. and the prognosis is that he will be able to resume playing in 3-5 weeks.
“The good news is that will have him back before the end of the regular season,” said coach Jacques Martin.
The Canadiens held an optional morning skate with about a dozen players on the ice. Scott Gomez was among the missing but he will play tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Lightning coach Guy Boucher said his team faces a number of game-time decisions. Vinnie Lecavalier (mid-body) and Marc-André Bergeron (back spasms) both skated this morning but neither is certain to play. Mattias Ritolla, who was expected to play with Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos, is out with the flu and an ankle injury has sidelined tough guy Steve Downie indefinitely.

Im afraid to post for fear I’ll screw up the rhythm.
Im just a white boy and it seems everybody’s rhymin’
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
your a great poet, i would like for you to read my comment to your comment on my comment lol
Verse 1, 2 and 5: 7-9 syllables
Verse 3 and 4: 5-7 syllables
If the league would allow Burke to play, the Leafs guaranteed would make the playoffs because he is such a great leader.
my point = you missed
It’s a work in progress Bugs…
The Leafs have their fans in a tizzy
Playoff hopes are making them dizzy
Brian Burke wants truculence
But only gets suckulence
Springtime golf will keep that team busy
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
What’s “LAME” is taking 7+ Million Dollars for doing hardly anything
Ok, let me rephrase that. Two guys with size, who can score 20 plus goals per
Yeah and that’s how it works, I can’t believe they didn’t take option B, and take the “two grinders with size for 3.75 million each”.
maybe he isnt as big, but i believe that ELLer can be a number 1 center, a ppg game player. He also as an edge to him. and as he get older and bigger i can see him dropping his gloves from time to time.
dont forget he is 21
Anyone still want to see eller in hamilton??? I love the way he’s been playing i think he’ll score again tonight!!!
and as for the leafs…… We don’t need boston getting a nice top 5 first rounder so they can keep winning for all
i care!!!
Mtl 514 Go habs!!!!
“Suckulence.”
Wonderful!
some posters have stated that because the habs are a small team they have to grab and hook more and that is why we are short handed so many times…i was wondering if anyone has watched the bruins games and can adv why they are near the bottom in being shorthanded and yet i see many posts that are stating the bruins are a goon team…
Agreed. He has been playing well for several games now. I thought he should of been 3rd Star Thursday behind Carey and AK. He looked good all night, let alone the goal and assist.
The Leafs have their fans in a tizzy
Dreams of playoffs are making them dizzy
Brian Burke speaks of truculence
But soon he’ll see suckulence
On the golf course where his team will be busy
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
There once was a fine Tamper gent.
Though not broke, he was otherwise bent.
Yet when approached to invest,
He replied with some zest
“You dolts, that money’s already spent!”
You can always tell how pathetic an entity is by how far back in the past it has to go to relive some moments of glory.

i once told subbie to let loose
after that lucic called a truce
we then met in the playoffs
thomas begain to jerkoff
and carey came with the goose
This year’s version of the Habs has seemed to be much more phyiscal than last season’s version. Maybe the inclusions of Subban, Pacioretty, White and Eller have given me that perception. Kostitsyn and Pouliot have been much more effective physically too. Gives me a bit more confidence in this group going into the playoffs than last season’s team did.
And forgot the last verse just a tad.
If that’s a crack at Edmonton, it’s not Montreal but I can show you pictures of the girls I went to high school with, nothing to sneeze at.
Whoa whoa with the intelect. Yer so smart bugs, SMRT!
interesting note on Eller, for everyone saying that Eller is playing his best hockey and should have been sent down a few months ago ( you know who you are) . ive always disagreed about this, i think that he has played just as good during another stretch earlier in the season. he now has 5 points in his last 7 games.
from Nov. 24 -Dec. 7 a stretch of 7 games.
2 goals, 3 assists, +5
thats while centering Benny and Darche. and this is playing about 10 mins a game.
being moved to the wing, and then being scratched really hurt his progress. its nice to see him playing center again and he is playing great AGAIN.
Have a theory on why PG traded Halak to St. Louis. I think PG’s number 1 goal was not who he traded Halak for but rather where he traded Halak too. He knew Halak was a very good goalie and was afraid of the backlash he receives if Halak plays on a team that goes to the playoffs. He knew with a quality squad in front of him, Halak makes PG look bad. Now i am very happy with Eller and feel he can be a long term Hab and productive. I sill don’t think PG really shopped Halak to any teams like SanJose, Chicgo, Detroit etc… Your thoughts….
Heheh….
Nicely done!
Don’t feel bad for him, he’s reportedly making his way around edmonton’s entire female populace. His life is pretty nice.
So the Habs are less pathetic than the Leafs. Woop-dee-effin-doo!!!
anyone see the picture of Taylor Hall on TSN.ca? it is such a terrible picture , i feel bad him
lol dont worry i can only feel to so bad for him, im sure he is happy
St. Louis was expected to be a playoff team. I just don’t think he was eager to trade him to someone in the East.
ak46 has been playing well and has looked happier than usual but he has fooled many of us before…at the end of the year his stats are usually not bad but the inconsistency thru out the season is hard to take…going into the playoffs it is very hard to depend on and trust him …he could play well in the playoffs but just as well he could produce very little…pouliot is the same
edmonton’s entire female populace
Anyone else want to handle this one?
You would think you accidentally clicked an old link, but no. Just the same old dead horse discussions, corny insults, and of course the witch hunting. Lame.
Gomez sucks, get over it. You accomplish nothing by incessantly whining except clogging up HI/O’s frail servers. I swear some take it so personally, like he stole your retirement savings. He’s not Bernie Madoff.
If you just need something to rage-out about, perhaps there’s something on the actual news part of the Gazette site worth staining your underwear over.
I can see why PG wouldn’t trade Halak to an Eastern Conference team like Philly or Tampa. I doubt he was too worried about trading him to any Western teams.
Don’t know if anyone saw this on NHL.com, but this kid in Calgary is hilarious.
