Shocking: Boston radio attacks Hickey, Montreal

Attack on Hickey | • Attack on Montreal

A couple of open-line hosts on Boston’s 98.5 radio reacted today to Pat Hickey’s opinion piece on Wednesday’s Bruins-Canadiens rumble, calling the veteran columnist a “weasly, wussy French-Canadian” (?), and then took a couple of gratuitous shots at Montreal.

(Boys, it’s February. You’re supposed to save this guff for the playoffs.)

No need to respond to these guys, who seem bent on being outrageous for the sake of ratings, but we provide two audio clips sent to us by the Team 990’s Rod Francis for your amusement.

  1. observer says:

  7. SPATS says:

Free Dumb reigns in Beantown. While I’m no fan of the pure laine quebecois, overproud patriotic Americans like these 2 aren’t any better. Wake up people you’re all duped. Think for yourselves, don’t listen to the idiots on the soapboxes, they’re the same idiots you knew in high school, the egomaniacs who ran for class president, the entitled douchebags you now see on American Idol who don’t know just how bad they are… They just need to be seen and heard for their own selfish reasons (OOPS, I’m just as bad for ranting here) ah, but therein lies the difference. I am self aware. But I digress, let’s beat em on the scoresheet!

  8. showey47 says:

Wonder what french players like patrice bergeron think about statements like this?

  9. SeriousFan09 says:

Just like that wily and ill-tempered Francophone lunatic Pat Hickey to start trouble with Boston!

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  10. doogie says:

Isn’t the Bruins coach French Canadian?  just wondering?

  11. fbkj says:

hickey, from his french stronghold in the west island, just ruins it for the rest of the french media

  12. coachdoug says:

  13. blu3chip says:

Dude, they are Americans, what do you expect?

If that moron isn’t American, then Americans don’t exist.

  14. Exit716 says:

So Does Hickey have to drive to Boston in a Humvee now, so not to have his car fire bombed?

  15. 134 says:

And they wonder why people (not just the “french canadians”) look down on everything american… just listen to themselves… sheer ignorance. Typical American.

  16. lefreak says:

for a city with so many great universities…you would figure that you would have more educated media.

this is hilarious! It would be insulting if it wasn’t so plebeian…then again i would have my panties in a twist too if i lived in a city where the cup drought is almost as long as toronto’s.

  17. HNS says:

7-2 Islanders. Quite enjoyable but not as much as the Detroit romp. Suck it Beantown!!

  18. Willy the bum says:

    March 8th: IT’S WAR!!!

Oh man, I want tickets to see it!!!

  19. lefreak says:

bostonians are among the most patriotic people in the united states..if they weren’t, why do all of the woman from south boston look like hacksaw jim duggan?

  20. showey47 says:

and there goes a mouth full of Gatorade all over the place.

  21. HNS says:

Thornton up to his old trick. What a douche.

  22. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Thats it!! You guy’s need to go out and hire an enforcer for the editorial staff!!  No way in hell we’re letting those bullies pick on one of our smaller writers like the Hickster!  Get it done Gazette!  Maybe hire GSP as a guest columnist??

  23. HabFanSince72 says:

As I posted elsewhere, Boston has a perfectly binomial population distribution: Harvard/MIT profs, biotech and software engineers, etc  on the one hand; knuckle dragging morons on the other. And all the Harvard profs are baseball fans.

  24. Kimberly2u says:

What a shame the big bad Booins are getting beat by appropriate….lol…what a bunch of losers

  25. Gindan69 says:

  26. king ddd says:

did those fools realize, their current top points getter, their coach, and one of their legendary d-men are all french canadians.

  27. aemarchand11 says:

you know what will be awesome? the playoffs 😉

    Go Habs Go! 2010-2011

  28. yathehabsrule says:

    You are correct, sir!

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  29. HNS says:

Thornton tried to beat up Abdelkader. The kid weighs about 150 pounds wet. What a piece of human garbage.

  30. arcosenate says:

Oh well, of all the American cities to attack the French, at least the Scots remember the auld alliance. Maybe they’ll put more money in education at some point but I doubt it.

In any case, in the words of Ted Baxter, all we need is a junior chemistry set and we’ll make the biggest stink bomb…

  31. Gindan69 says:

Wings are playing boston the same way Habs played them in the 3 wins. Tight and chippy. I guess we should expect an attempted mauling on sunday again. Problem is the wings have the guns to handle that and they will burn you on the PP.

  32. Castor says:

Bruins let in 6 (so far) AND The Islanders scored EIGHT!

I feel better about the past couple.

  33. Cool Ice Price says:

I’m sure that Claude & Patrice will be impressed!

  34. Buster says:

    LOOOOO  FREEEEEEEEAKING  L !!!!!      I love it.

Whooooaa baby!!! WHAT is goin’ on in Pennsylvania!!?
