OMG. Calm down people. I want the Habs to win as much as anyone but my life is not centered whether the succeed or not. Couldn’t care less if Gomez makes $7M. Every team has overpaid and underpaid players. They win or lose as a team…..ever play competitive sports?? You don’t get too high and you don’t get too low. You go and try to help your team win….sometimes you do, sometimes you don’t. Game breakers vary from game to game and sh*t happens. No matter the outcome of the game or series, it doesn’t make you, the fan, any different. If you need others or a “brand” to make you feel better you may want to take a step back and have a thought or two about yourself!

Eller would be an awful 2nd line center. Let him score more than 20 career points before putting him there. Bottom 2 lines are awful depth wise. Palushaj, Enqqvist are not NHLers. Moen gives you 6 goals a season. Forget Pouliot. Even though the Defense looks pretty good, this team will not get nearer to the Cup, than they are now.
its a 4th line. i dont care if moen pots 6, hes on our team playing TOP LINE minutes now because no one else can, and he could be worse at it.
what my main point was is that we could ice a respectable team on day one with gomez or spacek, a healthier defense. and again, as i said, there would be money to upgrade a winger pos. and the UFA selection sucks, and we dont have much youth to trade.
in short, no this teams not better than the current, you are right. but its has room to grow. right now it doesnt. also would you rather have enqvist and pulshaj out there than another year of gomez and a 35 yr old halpern? look at it that way.

lol dont mean to ruin your moment but if Habs trade Gomez and Spacek that’s almost $11.5 M in cap space that opens up… I doubt that Eller would be our 2nd line center at that point… 11.5 means an elite center + and elite winger if not another solid defenceman…
i see your point but you are forgetting that i am assuming wisniewski is re-signed, like for around 5 million and markov back on the books for almost as much. i dont think you could do more with the savings than upgrade a winger position and demote kostitsyn to third liner. if we got rid of gomez i highly doubt they would able to sign a peaking top 2 center in that scenario.
well you can sorta Cancel out Wis’ contract by taking Hammerlik’s off the book… maybe off by half a million or so… I still dont think having Eller as a 2nd line center is a good idea… we need some star caliber center on this team… I dont care if they have to overpay for him but i say go Get Richards from Dallas… or as a plan B swollow your pride and Trade Tom Pyatt for Crosby…

If the Habs can get passed Boston I think that might represent the toughest task in getting to the finals. If Buffalo knocks off the Flyers they’ll face Washington in the next round, correct?
I think Montreal could take out Buffalo, TB, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. They would really have their hands full with Washington though.
