Roy turns down Avalanche

Citing family reasons, Patrick Roy has turned down the Colorado Avalanche’s offer to become the team’s coach and/or general manager and will remain with the Quebec Remparts.

The Hall of Fame goalie, who says he’s not closing the door to an eventual return to the Avalanche, will hold a news conference at noon today in Quebec to confirm he’ll remain behind the bench of the QMJHL club while wanting to stay nearer his three children, who are said to be embarking on various projects.
