Tonight is the night … Time for the Canadiens to be spoilers for a change, AND advance themselves into the post season! I know that Kane’s been sharp, but Crawford is beatable, especially if we play with the intensity we showed Saturday against the Devils.

Attention Mr. Boone, perhaps you should warn your esteemed colleagues in Windsor that using the word “Habs” is strictly prohibited.

I want the Leafs to succeed just so we could rip their throats out on the final game of the season – looks like the Rags won’t give us that chance.

  8. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Garth snow was a hack goalie, now he’s a hack GM, go figure.

    • HabFarmer says:

But come on! He had the most awesome shoulder pads in the game way back when – extended his career at least a couple of weeks. Reminded me of the bg suit that the guy from Talking Heads used to wear on stage – sheer brilliance……. .

Love Pat Hickey’s piece on Garth Snow. Is there a more loathsome GM in the sport?

  11. TINMAN17 says:

Down in Massachusetts, I saw on Facebook everyone last night was all bent out of shape that the already qualified Bruins were losing. Several of them, friends and family, were expressing the belief that they needed more points to get away from a play-off match with the Habs. This one from my brother,” Please, B’s don’t let this one slip away!”, and this one from a comment to him, “Gotta get as many points as we can, don’t want same old same old with the frenchies”. Now, I’m not French-Canadian, but I’m gonna guess they mean my beloved Habs. Sounds like some people are afraid of us. Bring on the Bruins, and after we are victorious we shall dine on the finest meats and cheeses!

    • Rugger says:

We were in Boston last night, celebrating with my daughter, the Bruins fan since she got the acceptance letter yesterday into the Masters of Architecture program she wanted. She said pretty much the same thing – anybody but the Habs in the first round.

    • avatar_58 says:

They should be. The bruins are “supposed to win” this year. The habs are a crappy team, at least that’s what every sports network says. They are small, weak and can’t score.

So bruins in 4 right? Oh what, they lost a game? Ok, b’s in 5. Uh oh, another loss! B’s in 6? B’s in 7?

The playoffs are very psychological and I would LOVE to see them choke

    • Fig Newton says:

LOL….Man, do do you just make this stuff up? How do you sleep at night? Anyone with a brain in their head can see that the Rangers are hot and the Canadiens are not. Would much rather play Buffalo or the gals from Montreal than the Rangers at this point.

If there could be anything resembling a bright side to blowing a 3 goal lead and choking to the Rangers it is the fact that it allows them to tie you on points and make you sweat a bit about even making the playoffs. Hopefully they stay hot and Montreal goes ice cold the rest of the week. I still have those Molsons (oops, wait, they are Heinekens) on ice chilling in hopes of you going into one last losing skid and being able to celebrate the Leafs knocking you out of the playoffs altogether on Saturday. I know it is a long shot, but then again, it was a long shot for the Rangers to win last night, so there’s always hope.

      • TINMAN17 says:

Yup Rangers are hot, 3-3 in last 6, 1 so w and so L…that sounds hot?…they have 2 games left and habs have 3…not too worried…I think the habs would do well against the Flyers and Boston, not the caps though. I think the B’s are screwed against us and the Rangers, and they need Stafford to not get another hat trick against them, doesn’t he almost every game anyway against the B’s and for Miller to not play. Heineken? Isn’t that german for Pu**y Brew. Molson’s not for me either. Any Miller product will do.
And yeah I cleaned up the quotes, this is a family site, no?

I like that Boston lost it that way. If we manage to hold 6th place and meet them, they’ll be fragile.

  13. otisfxu says:

if these clowns don’t win tonight,,,,,I said it here about 8 days ago,,,,,,need to beat the Leafs Saturday to make the playoffs.
We know how that went a few years ago.

  14. secretdragonfly says:

I predict deafening silence from the Bruins trolls today – much as I wanted the Rangers to lose, I laughed my a$$ off.

    • Fig Newton says:

Keep your day job cuz you won’t make it as a fortune teller. You can laugh all you want, just like I’ll laugh my a$$ off at your losing streak and when the Leafs bump you out of the playoffs on Saturday.

Oh, and you can laugh at 7-0 and 3 straight games without scoring, too,

  17. HabFanSince72 says:

Garth Snow is a joke of course, but the NHL is behaving shabbily (as usual) in this affair.

  18. NoTinFoilCups says:

Some posters have said the Laughs are eliminated? Is this official? I’m not sure how many non shootout wins they have. If they are, in fact, eliminated it is strange that there is nothing on TSN’s website (or perhaps not lol)

    • JF says:

They’re not eliminated. If they win all their games and the Sabres get no more points, the two teams would have the same number of wins, but the Leafs would get in based on the season series between them – 3 wins each, but one of the Leafs’ losses was in overtime.

    • Lafrich says:

They are three non-shootout wins behind Buffalo, the only team they can catch. The next tie-breaker criteria is season series between the teams that are tied, which Toronto has shockingly won, getting 7 pts to 6 for Buffalo. Toronto went 3-2-1, and Buffalo went 3-3.
So, these 3 things MUST happen for the Leafs to make the playoffs:

      1. Leafs win all 3 in regulation
      2. Buffalo loses all 3 in regulation
      3. Carolina gets 3 points or less

      Not very good odds.

    • 44har48 says:

Who cares about the Leefs? jeeeeez guys, can we focus on our own problems?

  19. mdp2011 says:

Did anyone see the goals Tim Thomas let in yesterday? Wow he was flopping all over the place and seemed out of position all night. Can’t wait for the first round so the Habs can send the Boston “Choke” Bruins packing to the golf course.

  20. smiler2729 says:

Bruins blow a big lead, where have we heard that before? These guys aren’t as good as every hockey pundit seems to want to say they are.

Please, they blow more leads than a cheap detective!

    Playoff fodder…

The most dangerous team is the one no one is talking about -its the Capitals IMO

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

      • smiler2729 says:

        Or the Montreal Canadiens.

“My second favourite team is whoever plays the Leafs”

      • JF says:

Agree with you about the Caps. They’re the team I least want to face. If their goaltending holds up, I think they’ll get to the Final.

      • Lafrich says:

I just had a long conversation with my dad about the exact same thing. The Caps look tight. They worry me.

      • HabFanSince72 says:

I think the consensus among knowledgeable hockey people is that the Caps are the best team in the East.

They have been saving their powder for the playoffs all year. They are playing good defensive hockey, and they appear to have found a very good goalie in Brian Holtby.

  21. Rusty says:

Spacek’s injury and surgery was a blessing in disguise. For a guy of his age, to get a rest of 22 games at this point of the season, can prove a good thing for this team. A rested Spacek can move the puck quicker than some of the glacier D-men. And puck movement from our zone is the key.

    — And by the way, Arno Del Curto should be the next coach —

    • Max_a_million says:

      +1

    • thebigguy says:

People say this with no level of critical thinking. It’s repeated everytime an older player gets injured. Spacek had a bad injury neccessitating surgery. It hurt. A lot. It kept him from working out regularly. It kept him from playing over 20 games. He needs to get back into peak physical condition. He needs to get his timing back.

Moreover, because of his injury, the team had to make additional trades it otherwise wouldnt’ of had to. It had to play shorthanded without a defenceman it had pencilled into its strategy.

So which part of this is ablessing in disguise.
