He’s not a goal scorer he’s a playmaker start looking at assists and not goals. If anything we need to have the guy next to him wake up number 57 and bury his chances!

I think Pleks adds to the team even when he is not filling the net. He spent the last series shadowing Cindy. He did a great job and drew one key penalty in game 7. (if the refs would actually call penalties on crybaby, Pleks would have drawn more). Pleks also plays PK very effectively. Sometimes it is important how you play without the puck.

Gomez – can we forget about his contract for one second. I really don’t care about that – you know what I care about…is our team being better. Gomez has been one of the best players in these playoffs. Both in attitude and in controlling the puck. Do any of you remember when our break-out was Komisarek sky-hooking a lob pass from our zone?
Has anyone on the flyers been such a force with getting the puck out of their zone? No one. Not as consistently. Gomez makes us better. You guys can complain all you want about his contract…. when was the last time we were in the final 4? Riddle me that geniuses.
It was a bad deal when you consider he was available in the off season because he had no team. Giving up a 2nd round pick for a rental like Moore ( and I like him ) is questionable.

Good point. Don’t forget a lot of those PIM’s where pointless/selfish retaliatory penalty’s at the worst possible time and really hurt the team

I agree I initially thought that was a bad deal getting Moore but he has been a valuable acquisition and hopefully will be re-signed.

Call me crazy, but after this playoff run I’m more concerned with the Habs re-signing Moore than Pleks, and I like Pleks. But after this playoff run you have to believe his stock has fallen. The $5 mil a year people were speculating doesn’t seem reasonable now.
As for Gomer’s contract vs. his playoff performance I’m not going to touch that with a 20 Ft pole.

Can Darche play like he did his first 10 games when he wanted to stay up with the big club?
Plekky plays a much more complete roll on this team to be on him for not scoring.
AK46 Can hit but he needs to score to earn his spot.
Pooh-liot has all the skill and size and is stinking out the place.
Putting someone into the lineup just to sit him (OB) makes no sense. Let him do his thing and let MAB have the PP, if we get any PPs.
It’s up to the individuals to get the job done as a team.

Gomez has 1 goal and is a minus 6 at 7.3 million.
AK is tied for fifth in team scoring and is the only top six forward who is NOT a minus.
PK Suban is tied for the team lead in plus 2 and has 7 points in only 13 games.
MAB leads all players at minus 11 and has 6 points in 18 games.
O’Byrne is a plus 1 but JM considers him a liability.

How about adding Gomez to that list? Gomez has no goals in like 15 games. He’s worse defensively than Pleks, with same amount of points. Gomez gets most of the center’s PP time and our PP is horrible. Not to mention the albatros of a contract that is hanging around this teams neck, preventing them from having money to improve the team. He’s so not worth it. Still to me, one of Gainey’s big mistakes as a GM (there were many). Especially longterm. In a year or 2, everyone will be dying to dump Gomez, like Chicago and Huet, but nobody will take him and this team will be stuck.
If we go out tonight hopefully we have seen the last of Pleks, AK46 and Pouliot.

AK46 no goals in his last 16 games
Pleks no goals in his last 12 games
This deep playoff run has shown us who we can rely upon to produce when it matters and those who disappear.

Excelent post. 3 players from our supposed top 2 lines have not scored and we are in the East finals. Gomer, Cammy and Gionta (and the 3rd & 4th, lines) can only do so much. And big Kuddo’s to Gill, Hammer and Spacek and Georges for great defensive play during the playoffs. All were critized during the season but when the playoffs came they elevated their game.

Yes idiot, he is. He’s top 3 best players on the Habs these playoffs and there are 3 teams still standing…..that makes him one of the best players in the playoffs.

Gomez is also very good defensively. That’s part of our problem though. In Pleks, Gomez and Moore we have three Guy Carbonneau type centres. In 1993 we had the one, along with Muller and Damphousse.
Why Darche? He’s not been effective these playoffs.

It must be sk’s fault. I mean,he was given 5 quality minutes of ice time with 4th liners and didn’t light up the scoreboard? We need offensive creativiy in the lineup,not another plugger who couldn’t score in a women’s prison.
SK has given up on the Habs. Not the other way round.

What inteligent coach would dress someone just to sit them on bench instead of bringing someone on who could make a difference, even its a small chance. Last game SK74 played, he new the only reason he was their was to punish Pouliot. Result of punishing Pouliot = 0. Why would SK74 give it all on the ice for a coach who will bench him the next game regardless. If im not mistake AK46 played a pretty good game when SK74 was playing. I cant wait to season is over and we hear the truth.

Darche should play one shift – run over Leighton in the first minute and take your time getting off him.
Then O’Byrne can do the same thing and they can both sit at the end of the bench together after that.

There must be something more to it than meets the eye when it comes down to Darche getting playing time ahead of SK74. That’s the only explanation I can come up with, either that or he has pissed of his team mates to the extent that they rather lose than have him in the lineup.
This may possibly be the only other explanation of why AK46 has shown little interest in the playoffs.

Darche is not afraid to take a hit to make a play. He adds little more muscle than SK74 but definitely lacks the skill of SK74. IMO, SK74 will not be back next season and that will be put to bed after the playoffs are over. Its ashame to see younger players getting axe instead of gaining valuable playoff experience when it counts the most. Cannot be any worse than Gomez, Plekanec, Pouliot and his brother AK46 for not scoring in this round against Philly. Being shutout 3 times in this series says the writing is on the wall to make a few changes in the off season. SK74 is this year whipping boy to take pressure of Carey Price and Ryan O’Byrne.

The thing that has baffled me most about the playoffs is why haven’t we seen SK out there with Pouliot christ they can both make plays at time put them on the thrid line and I’m sure one of them would have scored once. Putting SK on the 4th line was a bad joke give him someone to work with.
