The Canadiens originally had a full practice scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, but it turned into a team meeting followed by an optional practice at 11:30 a.m. after Tuesday’s 2-1 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Bell Centre.
The only players who took to the ice were Peter Budaj, David Desharnais, Brandon Prust, George Parros, Alexei Emelin, Travis Moen, Douglas Murray, Daniel Briere, Michael Bournival and Ryan White.
There was good news concerning Prust, who has been sidelined since mid-October with a shoulder injury. He will return to the lineup for at least one of the games this weekend as the Canadiens visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday (7 p.m., RDS, TSN Radio 690) and then play host to the New York Rangers Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
Before the practice, the Canadiens announced that Greg Pateryn and Gabriel Dumont had been returned to the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.
