Canadiens captain Brian Gionta, goaltender Carey Price, forward Travis Moen and incoming free-agent forward Brandon Prust have added their names to those of Colby Armstrong, Josh Gorges and unsigned free-agent Mathieu Darche, a popular former Canadien, for a fundraising dinner at Montreal landmark Moishes.

Every penny of the online auction – all details and the link to bid are here – will benefit The Gazette Christmas Fund, which for more than four decades has made the holiday season a little brighter for less privileged Montrealers. The auction, ending on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. ET, will send the high bidder and a guest to the dinner at Moishes for an evening of fine dining, photographs, autographs and, no doubt, some unique story-telling.

My sincere thanks to the players who have accepted my invitation to attend to make this a special evening for a generous bidder and guest, to the bidders who will help put a smile on the faces of more than a few Montrealers during the holidays, and to Moishes, notably co-owner Lenny Lighter, for rolling out the red carpet to welcome us.
