Pouliot exchanges blows at the end of the first period of Game 3 with Boston’s Andrew Ference.
Allen McInnis, Gazette
Benoit Pouliot would seem to be headed for the Bell Centre’s press gallery Thursday night for Game 4 – if there were room. But since there’s not, he’ll likely be watching from the players’ lounge off the dressing room.
Pouliot was odd man out at practice in Brossard this morning, Jeff Halpern apparently bound for a return to action, practising as a winger on a line with Lars Eller and Travis Moen. But after practice, head coach Jacques Martin would not confirm the reinsertion of Halpern in the lineup, nor the dropping of Pouliot. A decision to be announced, it seems, on game day.
Tom Pyatt is skating with David Desharnais and Ryan White, the Canadiens’ top two lines untouched.

See how emo Doan was during the post game interviews… how can you not feel for the guy.
He’s just afraid he will have to live in the Peg next year.
Winnipeg here we come!!!!
Winnipeg Jets!!!

Lets hope.

Man oh man… Ruutu…. it’s like I’ve seen this before or something. Sheesh
Not a lotta support for the team that is in the exact same predicament we were in last year. Not saying they’re gonna pull Halakian magic out their butts, but…would be kinda interesting if it happened to washington again JUST to see coach piggy squeal until his head exploded. Gaborik…is…terrible.
Also, what a no look, bad angle shot from Neal. Forget the lack of a save, just threading it like that without even looking…gross.
————–
The Drive for 25
Neil bad angle shot like Kane’s goal to win the Cup last year or Gaborik knocking the puck from his goalie’s grasp – so many of these overtime games end with these kinds of plays.
Portal 2!
Yeah baby!
Ok, Yes. The refs made the right call in the first Caps goal against the Rangers tonight. However, the damn whistle should have blown way before it went in, If I am Torts I am going apeShisse on the league and asking for that Refs immediate ban from the playoffs! That was a joke, another series the Caps are involved in that they gain momemtum from the Refs, reminds me of us last year!
Why should the whistle have been blown- the puck was loose the whole time. And BTW it was the Caps who were getting most of the refs penalty calls but Rangers inferior team who shouldn’t even be in these playoffs have a pathetic power play and couldn’t score.
Did you watch game 3 incidentally?
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
No, the goal was good. Ref in perfect position to count “one mississippi” after Lundqvist covered the puck, watch it squirt free and remain loose until it was pushed in.
Good goal. Good referee decision.
Wide-eyed with wonder warbles L. B. Potter, esq.
My favorite team gets delayed in playing their next game due to a concert by my favorite band! I really hope that’s a good omen!!!
Anyone wondering whats wrong with the game, just listen to the BS coming from the mouth of Colin Cambell. It’s absoloutly unbelievable that this man has a job. The owners owe it to the fans to can this turd ASAP!!!
Amazing quote on suspensions:
“I don’t make up this stuff as I go along”!
What a joke!
He also admitted he was “old”!
Time for a change; flush this turd!
This interview just highlights the state of the NHL under this idiot!
Just listening to this doddering fool is a window into what is wrong in that department!

Who am I: Mohamar Ghadaffi or Gary Bettman.
The NHL is an unsafe workplace. There’s every justification for the relevant govt. bodies to intervene.
What an A-hole! Also, can’t believe the TSN guys just bent over for the guy and took it. I would’ve like to see him talk like that with McCowan.
The only way this guy will get it is if his son gets his head taken off with one of those hits.
“I kind of feel sorry for players who never got a chance to be a Montreal Canadien” – Cammalleri
Listening to Campbell, it’s really quite incredible that someone who speaks like him, who is almost incapable of listening, and who seems deeply convinced not only that he is right, but that he is always right, and the only one who IS always right … it seems incredible that someone like this would be offered, let alone occupy, a senior, high-visiblity post with a multi-million dollar business like the NHL.
Frankly, I had no idea the state of affairs at the league’s head office was this disconnected from reality – scary and brutal all at the same time.

The last three times a Federal Liberal leader won a new majority, Montreal won the Stanley Cup.
Chretien – 1993 (Canadiens)
Trudeau – 1968 (Canadiens)
McKenzie King – 1935 (Maroons).
Come on Iggy, you can do it!
My God that is now a real predicitment. Want the Habs to win but not Iggy. Sleepness night ahead.
Mr. Biter
I don’t want to see any of them win.
What I’d like to see is Harper lose seats and have his percentage of the popular vote go down, while the Liberals stagnate and the NDP make modest but insubstantial gains.
It’d mean both Harper and Iggy would have to step down after the election soon enough and hopefully both will be replaced by new leaders.
Chretien, Trudeau and King. There’s an all-star forward line.
Habs in five
keep the dream alive
somethings surprise price for you ??????
Borat you finally joined HIO !!!!!! Good to you….
Does anyone really think Martin will bench Pouliot tomorrow? He’s obviously not the reason the Habs lost. Although, granted, he is part of the reason the Habs didn’t win. But that could be said of many players.
I don’t see the upside of subbing Weber for Pouliot.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Weber adds punch to the PP and gives JM options for 7 Defencemen, rather than have a potential night of Spacek Senior Moments.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Get Spacek away from Hammer and over to his natural side, Spacek problem solved. We need Pouliot’s physical presence.
Full Breezer 4 Life
I shouldn’t laugh that hard at something I read but Pouliot’s physical prescence is most felt by the ice surface when he falls down on it.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
I’m pretty sure it’s Halpern returning to take Pouliot’s spot.
that’s right Andrew but to me, it’s inconsequential whether Pyatt or Pouliot sits. Probably better if Pyatt is in considering the speed and defensive advantage.
Pyatt’s play so far has totally impressed me, and he’s come much closer to scoring than Pouliot. I think the bottom line is that JM doesn’t trust Pouliot, and that means more hard ice time for players we need to create offense.
Pyatt over Pouliot for sure.
who cares if he benches him? He’s not a critical part of the equation and somebody like pyatt can skate circles around him. It’s a non-issue that has been made an issue on an off day for the habs.
But since Pouliot doesn’t get any ice time, why not dress someone else?
Webber can score and does not get tripped by the blueline every game.
Mr. Biter
Guy Boucher can’t handle a PIT team that has no Crosby or Malkin on it.
I’m just saying…
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
I think you need to take a look at TB’s roster and check your Boucher hate at the door. They’re basically the Atlanta Thrashers of last year with worse goaltending and he got them to 5th in the east. Boucher is only going to get better, but TB sucks.
i dunno dude, tb is a good team, st-louis a 90 pts guy, stamkos, steve downie, ryan malone, although he may be washed up, but he is still vincent lecavalier, eric brewer, hedman. no one in atlanta i s as good as any of theses guys. i do agree that there is no goalie, but still tampa bay is pretty decent team on paper. i have nothing aginst boucher i think most of us are giving him too much credit
GO HABS GO! GO HAWKS GO!
They’ve been riding one hot line at a time all season, with a terrible defense core and a 43 year old goalie.
ALZNER WAS AT LEAST BETTER FROM THE 3RD PERIOD ON, ALTHOUGH HE DID GIVE AWAY THE PUCK ONCE THAT NEARLY RESULTED IN A GOAL. His last 5 periods before it were horrendous. please excuse the caps.
I don’t hate Boucher Andrew, I hate the Hype about Boucher. It’s ridiculous and he’s walking in to a series with an obscene advantage at the Centre position and can’t exploit it. Habs struggled all season there b/c of lost faceoffs and Gomez’s inability to keep a Top 6 line rolling. They go in with a rising superstar and an ex-superstar who’s had an excellent second half in Lecavalier and they can’t exploit that advantage.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
So the Lightning should win based on two players? Come on, it’s a team game, which is why Montreal has survived all these injuries. Tampa has zero depth at any position. Only St. Louis had a better year this year than last, and add in Dominic Moore. With that Boucher took them from a lottery team to 5th in the east. The hype is deserved. Is Jacques Martin a better NHL coach right now, probably. Will he be in 4 years? I highly doubt it.
I don’t see it, this is Washington 2.0 in my eyes, a firewagon squad that goes all-offence and doesn’t have defensive side of the game in their minds when they need to have it.
Boucher is using all he has in TB right now, but he has advantages over PIT right now and he doesn’t seem to be using them very well. You rule the C position on the ice, exploit it.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
You’re both being a bit harsh. Boucher did a great job of improving the Bolts, and if they are Washington 2.0 – hey I’ll take some of that. Washington 1.0 have been the best team in the East two years running.
On the other hand Pittsburgh’s run since losing Crosby had been impressive. Their grinders have really stepped up. (They also have a great D and a very solid keeper.)
Let’s save our harsh words for CJ and the cast of Planet of the Apes on Ice.
I get it, you won’t change your mind, but you’re not bringing anything to the table aside from conjecture, whereas Boucher produced tangible results.
There’s been no reason for me to change my mind, I was pretty sure TBL would get slammed in the playoffs because Boucher was riding a hot line all season and that wouldn’t last forever. He had a great AHL season, he had a pretty strong initial season in the NHL but I’m not ready to crown him a new Dan Bylsma.
Boucher has some advantages in this series, not many but he doesn’t seem to be exploiting them well. If there’s one position he completely has PIT outgunned it at it’s centre ice but so far they haven’t taken real advantage to be where they are in the series, he also has better offensive weapons but their PP isn’t getting it done either. He looks promising as a coach, but I’m not ready to line up the Jack Adams vote for him.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
you hate him because you are a homer or as you say you hate all the people who praised him — because he left your favorite team – boo hoo
You are just sayin’ and you make a valid point. At the same time, the Pens have not missed a beat against anyone since losing those guys. I’m more inclined to credit Bylsma and the Pens than take away from Boucher, who certainly had a good year with the Bolts.
Full Breezer 4 Life
The Pens record over the last 30 games of the regular season is somewhat BS as they had something like 9 shootout wins during that time. That doesn’t really count in the playoffs. While they still played way above expectations, if TB was a good team they should be able to beat the Pens.
Haha, I can’t figure out if you’re supporting Boucher or not! But either way, you are not giving The Pens enough credit. if u want to call those shootout/OT wins BS, okay, but I call it winning. doesn’t matter how you do it.
Full Breezer 4 Life
OT wins are legit, but a shootout is a coin toss. It doesn’t count in the playoffs because you can’t do it. That’s all I’m saying.
However I think Bylsma should win coach of the year because that team should have tanked after Crosby and Malkin went out, no question. What I’m saying is that series is probably the weakest matchup in the playoffs and I’m hoping desperately that Buffalo beats Philly so we can take on whoever wins it.
@Andrew Berkshire
Well Buffalo is doing their best, and yes, that would be sweet. Unless the Pens win AND Crosby comes back …
Full Breezer 4 Life
In that case, I’d still be ok with it because we beat them last year and we’re a better team. But yeah that wouldn’t be desirable.
Whoever approves Crosby going back on the ice in these playoffs should be beaten with a heavy club.
And I don’t even like Crosby but he’s what the game needs. Superstars who can lift you out of your seat and make a franchise important and competitive.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Actually it’s easier to coach against superstar lines, given they always pass to the star (ala last year). Minus those two and it’s now a system oriented team.
Mind you when he completely shuffled ALL 4 lines I had to wonder what in gods name he was doing. Surely he had his lines worked out before the playoffs?
I didn’t even see him on the ice. Just saying…
“This has to be the mother of all brain-dead decisions.” – Red Fisher on the Jaroslav Halak trade.
But wasn’t Boucher the Master of Motivation and Strategy? Shouldn’t he be making sure all of his players are ready to go, where’s Stamkos in this series?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Yup the game goes to 2nd overtime so the losing coach is an idiot! excellent thinking – and exactly why everthing else you say is as accurate.
Couple of strange OT goals tonight. Rollie half asleep and Gabby giftwraps it.
Again, shades of LA with the Sathers coughin’ up a huge lead and losin’ in extra time. Manhattan will be extra brusque tomorrow mornin’.
The only consolin’ factor is that Torts will have an opportunity to sit down with the team to explore the positive takeaways from tonight’s challenge, with an eye towards buildin’ on the team’s key success factors headin’ into the next game.
*cough*
In other words, Brooksie is gettin’ ripped apart tonight.
oooooooohh baby will that be something to find on the MSG network.
How many hits to the head or blindside hits were there tonight?
we’ll see if richards or routu are suspended?
The Rags choked badly.
Man, last year, the scapegoat was Jokinen. Now they have Gaborik to hate.
Actually the Caps comeback started with a huge goof by Ryan McDonaugh.
Good thing we got rid of him
But, man, that’s gotta sting. A pal of mine’s a big Rags fan and he’s gonna be devastated when he hears(He went to sleep before the game ended. Wadda guy.)
big fan who went to bed before it was over? puh-lease.
Good. I can’t stand how Macguire is all over the guy simply because the habs traded him. No other reason really, given he’s a virtually invisible defensive defenceman on a boring team no one cares about. Oh he’s an EX hab? BEST PLAYER EVER!
He is actually a good player.
Can we not talk about McDonagh? Ever? It just brings up painful memories.
Full Breezer 4 Life
I think that’s a fair request, Bill. However the guy they got with all that Gomez cap space just pulled the ultimate dumbass move.
i would take Mc Donough over Gomez in a New York minute.
only cause of the cap hit
he’s a rookie and with stahl will be the best d-men on that team for years to come.
Agreed!
It was a bad break. Gaborik was trying to clear the puck and it just so happened to hit Chimera.
Awwww poor rangers. Gnight
Wow! Gaborik!
Like I said, Gaborik sucks.
Bonehead play of the series. NYR are kaput.
Agreed. I feel for Lundqvist and Girardi who played their hearts out tonight. And Dubinsky because the ref completely screwed him.
I still don’t have a clear idea of who will come out of the East. I thought Boston, but still…..
Get the feeling NSH and ANA will get chippy pretty soon
you thought wrong on Boston…very very wrong. How many times do the Bruins need to choke before people start realizing Julien was fired in Montreal for a reason. NO PLAYOFF MINDSET
I’m thinking Washington will come out, but it’s fairly wide open.
first of all – dont even belong in the playoffs. far inferior team to washington. amazing these games were that close. sather had to trade gomez salary to make room for gaborik. at least gomez doesnt score game winners or set them up in overtime against the habs.
Vinny is washed up…..
if the blue shirts win tonight, caps can kiss the season good bye and ovie and semin can goo see their homeboys at the world championship
GO HABS GO! GO HAWKS GO!
king Henry halaking the caps, now if if the hawks can win 3 more games i will be happy man !
GO HABS GO! GO HAWKS GO!
Do you get the feeling if the Hawks win in Vancouver it’s over for the Nuks?
I don’t see the Hawks winning another game.
we will see about that buddy
GO HABS GO! GO HAWKS GO!
in Vancouver it’s over for the Nuks?
================
i think vancouver will show up tomorrow night. like washington did in the 3rd tonight against a far inferior team. or san jose did last night after sleeping for 8 periods.
vancouver will be trying to win tomorrow and no way can chicago beat them when canucks are all-out.
absolutely
HALAK RULES!
“This has to be the mother of all brain-dead decisions.” – Red Fisher on the Jaroslav Halak trade.
What is it with all the cheesy porn-star mustaches?
More like Uncle Rico.
“This has to be the mother of all brain-dead decisions.” – Red Fisher on the Jaroslav Halak trade.
Marion Gaborik seriously sucks. Just zero effort from that guy.
why? he scored the winner. well assisted on it.
lol – good one
You know why should we care if a player gets injured by a shot to the head. So what ? It’s obvious the players don’t care. Why should we. Sad to say but if these neanderthals cannot figure out that one of them is going to end up paralyzed or dead then so be it. And while we’re at it, let them take all the steroids they can handle.
It is pure hypocrisy to think any other way. I mean youtube is full of videos with all sorts of dirty, cheap hits. This is what elbow #10 ?????
We are not too far from the Coliseum in Roman times.
Props to Miller. Attaboy.
Both Caps and Pens get PPs in OT and can’t cash. Heroic PK by the Rags’ Girardi.
Best part is McGuire askin’ whether or not the Rags will get their PP, you know, on the back of the slightest Caps infraction. Is he suggestin’ refs intentionally call make-up penalties?
That can’t be right.
He also mentioned that Semin had a quick release. Pierre might want to consult a specialist about that.
McGuire’s homoerotic quote of the night.
@ LL/Punkster
Saw you guys put up some funk before, was wondering what you guys thought of this band,…..
Jocamo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgXLjmU6lBU
Really funky P-Wash…I loved it. Made me wanna dance.
The guitar is awesome…reminds me of Hendrix and Frampton for some reason.
P-Ster better watch out, there’s a new funk order.
Bring out MAB for the shoot out.
Well how ’bout that? Tampa Bay has started urging their fans to sing “ole, ole”.
Gotta steal everything from us eh?
Man, does Kovy look old. Really slow, and his shot has no snap.
No kidding.
Rollie looks like he took his Geritrol tonight.
Vinny is also in that category. Unfortunately.
Pouliot for Latendresse has turned out to be an even trade after all… underachievers unite!
“My second favourite team is whoever plays the Leafs”
Pouliot can prove his worth yet.
Sometimes, I wish we still had Latendresse, because he went around the net.
…But then I remember how worthless he was before he left.
I wouldn’t say that at all. LAts was injured all year and outplayed Pouliot last season. I think that is still to be determined, but I’d bet on Minny winning that trade handsomely, when it’s all said and done.
Lats was injured all year because once again, Fatendresse was out of shape all summer, showed up for camp, was publically lambasted by the coach for being out of shape and then suffers an injury typical to players who have conditioning issues. They give him a fresh contract and he spent it all on McDonalds.
Even Min fans think he’s a Quebecois Kyle Wellwood.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
I wonder if Halpern for some reason can’t go, if Martin will go with Weber….i would like to see Weber instead of Benny Webs plays a better defensive game (he is a defensemen). Halpern will be an excellent boost to our lineup face-offs, defensive game and pk. Then the Habs can roll Pleks n Moen, Halpy n Pyatt, Desharnais n Gio/for some reason putting Cammy out there dunno why.
Habsnation is still standing.
http://canadiensnation.wordpress.com/
Meanwhile in Buffalo, Mike “Mister Respect” Richards gets a 5min for an elbow to the face of Patrick Kaleta.
I hate Richards, but if he’s going to elbow someone I’m glad it was Kaleta.
Flyers lose 1-0, and goon it up at the end. Richards sucker punches Gerbe.
Such respect.
Richards is such a punk, but that makes him the perfect man to wear the C in Philly. Such a pathetic attitude case, needs Chris Pronger to do his job for him of leading PHI.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
And no one is surprised. #BlameSubban.
Avtsin drawing in for the sick (flu) Palushaj gets his first pro playoff point with an assist, Ian Shultz also records his first ever pro playoff goal.
If Carey had let in 3 quick goals, there’d be 1000 hits on here.
By the way, Price is the best goalie so far in the playoffs for all the “stats don’t lie” people. 9.56
Didn’t Price lay somewhat of an egg last game? A major reason for the loss. There wasn’t 1000 hits, including me never saying anything about it until now. I think people understand, anyone is entitled to a bad game now and then, as Price hasn’t had many this season. If he does it again however….
Don’t make me UPPERCASE you ManA……….; )
Are you flirting with me lol?
You wish.
He could’ve been better but he did make a few big saves all at the same time.
Anyway, all is forgotten if he comes up big next game, right?
Yes, That’s right.
TB tied it, 2-2
St.Louis missed a glorious chance, could be 3-2 TB.
Yeah, I saw that. Stamkos cant seem to get anything going either. Wonder whats up with him. Brewer just absolutely creamed Talbot.
Heh. Think he more than did his part with the blatant crosscheck that set up the tyin’ goal.
Old style reffing.
Moore mugged a Pittsburgh defenceman on the same play.
I’ve become completely inured to NHL reffin’. It’s not even the bad nor the missed calls, it’s the inconsistency within any given game.
Given up carin’ about it. Not good from a vascular perspective.
Speakin’ of reffin’, Mike Richards got five minutes for an elbow tonight. Surprisin’ given what a clean, upstandin’ player he is.
Go Sabres Go!
Somewhat reminiscent of last night’s debacle in LA, the Ovys come back with to tie it up in the 3rd with 3 in 9:20.
There are more swings in these playoffs than in Punkster’s private playground.
Hahahahaha Rangers. Hope they lose too
Alzner sets up the tying goal for Washington, god he sucks.
In contrast to ManParts’s observation, did any manager in the NHL make a better trade this year than a couple picks for James Wisniewski? What a trade. Add to that the steal of a contract Price is on, keeping the right goalie, trading bit parts for Sopel and Mara, and signing Halpern and Darche to excellent value contracts, PG could easily be nominated for executive of the year.
touche
I agree. But we also lost some key components that could have been kept. SK, Dags (not sure if that was under BG).
Neither of those players could have been kept. SK74 bought his ticket out of Montreal last year when he wouldn’t practice in the playoffs. He was given several chances to not be an idiot and kept failing. Good for him for smartening up. I always liked him as a player so it’s good to see him get some success.
D’agostini couldn’t cut it in Montreal as a top 6 player, and he’s not suited to bottom 6 minutes. He had what will probably be his best season ever against weak competition this year. I can imagine many on this site would say they’d rather him to Pouliot, but when getting the kind of minutes Pouliot gets here in Montreal, D’ags put up 4 points and -12 in 40 games. Pouliot put up 30 points and a +2 in 79 games.
There’s this need amongst Habs fans to pretend that numbers players put up on other teams would be the exact same if those players were playing here, but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
So speaks the guy, who was totally D’Ags supporter, just a few months before his trade, which I predicted at that time. I mean at least I’m consistent. You go where the wind blows, acting like you knew it the whole time. One of the most biased posters on here.
Let’s not misrepresent what that conversation you’re referring to was about, shall we? Your position was that D’agostini wasn’t an NHL player and never would be, mine was that he was an NHL player who was on a run of bad luck. looking at his shooting percentage last year of 3.70% I’d say it’s undeniable that I was right after he’s back up above 10% like he was in his rookie year.
But since you have no integrity, you’re more interested in misrepresenting history to pretend you’re right than you are about being factual. Don’t worry, I’m not offended because I expect nothing less from an egomaniac like yourself who knows jack s*** about hockey.
Let’s hear again about all your awesome predictions. Washington in 4, Penguins in 4, Price will never be an NHL quality goalie, Halak is the next Roy…. You’re batting percentage is pretty damn low, James.
I don’t remember the specifics of that conversation, except I was laughing at you for suggesting he was an asset to the habs and was being misused or something along those lines. I was adament that he must go, As you seem to now be saying. I must admit, I’m surprised that he had a pretty nice year in St.Louis.
As far as all that Caps in 4, Pitt in 4. Never said anything about those series one way or another at all. I also never stated Price wasn’t NHL calibre, just that Halak was better. Which he was. I also never said Halak was Roy. He did act like him last playoffs though. I just stated that I thought Halak was the better candidate to be Montreal’s number one. Talk about misrepresenting.
Just realised the Caps,Pens comment was from last year. I don’t remember you or anyone else saying Montreal was going to beat the Caps. They never even would have had a chance if Halak hadn’t become inhuman.
Of course you don’t remember specifics, you only remember “I was right”, only your memory is faulty.
Well it seems like I was right, because you are now repeating exactly what I was telling you last Jan or whatever to Montreal VictoriaFan.
You’re so full of crap, Mr. Toth. You said repeatedly over the last 2 years that Price wasn’t NHL quality, would never be a starter etc. And you called the Habs to lose both those series before they happened. Lying about it doesn’t increase your credibility.
I repeatedly, told you specificly, last season, Price was about AVERAGE to SLIGHTLY ABOVE as a goalie. I never ever said he wasn’t an NHL goalie. You’re mistaken. I said he shouldn’t be a starter last season, or the playoffs before, because of Halak, and questioned his starter ability period, but never said he shouldn’t be an NHLer. Asfar as the Caps series, ya I predicted they would win in 5, but so did 99% of people. The Pens series, I thought they could win bfore game one, because of what I saw Halak do against the Caps.
Stop lying!! Everyone else was pointing out to YOU that his statistics were average around the NHL, while you were saying he should be in Hamilton. It’s ridiculous how much you want to deny your previous opinions, when you tried to say I was doing the same.
That’s fair. It’s less his fault and more the circumstances. What made the others so much better than PG?
Actually James, I was quoted in the Montreal Gazette saying the Habs could and would win, I have the paper still if you’d like it.
I actually would like to see where you said Montreal would beat the Caps. I have to go now, but will check back tomorrow for the link. If you seriously predicted a Montreal win over the Caps, I’d have to hand it to you, because 99% didn’t see it coming.
A partial quote of mine from this website, published in the Gazette April 14, 2010. I called Habs in 7, but Boone was printing the opinions not the predictions.
http://plixi.com/p/94369262
I put up or shut up, you don’t.
D’ags was never productive after his brief run on Koivu’s wing in mid 08-09. He wilted under the pressure in MTL after a brief run.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Getting the Wiz, when he did was a great move. I don’t doubt that, but that doesn’t take away from some of the terrible moves he’s made. I will give a guy credit where it’s due and vice versa. That’s what sets me apart from biased fans like you and nutjob below.
You’re a hoot, seriously.
oh ya, ur apart alright, ur on the moon.
Ok, saying getting the Wiz was a great move and getting nothing for Sergei was terrible, means I’m on the moon. You guys are hopeless. Recchi and Campbell weren’t kidding when they said Montreal’s fans judgement is terrible when it comes to their team.
no, saying this ‘I mean I’ve never seen a GM get owned so bad on trades as Gainey and Gauthier have been. Well Milbury, but that’s it.’ puts you on the moon.
3-2 NYR
Alzner’s fault.
Totally, he’s terrible. Worst defenseman ever, of all time, in history.
“Worst defenseman ever, of all time, in history.”
Honing your synonymia to good effect, I see ;–)
Just saw a beauty feed from SK74 on Nashville’s first goal by Hornquist. After going 23g and 27a for 50p this season and now having 4 points in 3 1/3 playoff games, I was thinking, Man Gauthier was a dumbass in essentially giving him away for nothing. He’s had a better season than his brother. I mean I’ve never seen a GM get owned so bad on trades as Gainey and Gauthier have been. Well Milbury, but that’s it.
How’s Halak doing in the playoffs?
What’s that have to do with Gainey and Gauthier making bad trades? And yes, getting only Eller for Halak was not a good trade.
Who should have he gotten for Halak, you know, seeing that goalies rarely if ever land a superstar in return.
Once again you prove you don’t know $hit about hockey. Bad trade? No, they made the best trade available to them at the time. Do you have some evidence that some other team was offering something better and PG turned it down? Cuz then you could say “bad trade”. But no, a GM takes the best that is available, and then little peons like you come online and critique them on it.
So delusional, it’s hilarious.
He had a better season playing with an entirely different team.
So you think a GM who has a player who is under-performing, and has an attitude problem should be able to get a superstar player in return for him???? Really? is that what you think??? Are you for real? Just because a player turns his game around AFTER he has been traded doesn’t mean the GM made a mistake. You make your idiotic comments with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, and it shows just what a complete moron you are. NHL GM’s deal in reality, and in reality an under-performing , headcase, trouble-making player doesn’t get a great return in trade value. Why is that so hard for your little mind to comprehend? Go crawl back down your troll hole and study up a bit on the game of hockey you idiot.
Who said I expected a superstar? I would expect something better than nothing. Looks like Sergei wasn’t a head case, just as Grabo wasn’t. They were just unhappy with how they were being used, and now I see they were right. The only headcase I see is you.
Run along Timmy, get back to me when you understand the game a little better.
Give me a break, you’re a complete fool. Don’t even try to compare yourself to me. It’s embarrassing.
sure am glad we got sopes and the wiz tho
I’d love to say that the Caps have a team built only for the regular season, but the Rangers beat them worse than Rodney king during the past campaign.
Watching the Pitt game. There is absolutely no atmosphere down there in Tampa.
(Tremendous goal by Tampa: Vinnie to Marty.)
I saw a guy in the stands wearing a Phaneuf leaf jersey. WTF?
St. Louis is ridiculous, my definate choice for the Hart.
Ok, I am Poulioted-out. Bruins are in beautiful, sunny Lake Placid rehearsing “Miracle On Ice”. I can just imagine them figure skating holding hands with Chara lifting Floppy over his head and then throwing Fugly Marchand into a triple axel.
But alas, Habs have more Americans on their team, so there won’t be a miracle for the Bruins.
They’re avoiding Montreal’s secret weapon.
Crescent Street.
Yes. Beer and women. Women and beer.
Haha, I haven’t been to crescent street in so long(seeing as I live out west now) but 2 of my 3 favourite things, Beer and Women (the 3rd being the Habs)
Haha, so you think the boys are in bed asleep by 9?
If I were at Lake Placid at this time of year, I’d be in bed by then…..
That’s true, no mosquitoes to keep you up either.
Crescent Street?! Does anyone still go there? Other than to go to Hurley’s, that is.
I remember Dec. 31, 1975
Crowd at MSG shouting BOUDREAUUUUUU BOUDREAUUUU haha way to make him eat his words!
~Kiss my ass Lucic!!!!
Karl Azner on the ice for all 3 goals and -2 last game. Tonight he is -3 not counting the two 2 on 1s plus the time he tries to go around his own goal with the puck but falls down with no one near him and NYR nearly scores.
Boudreau started the wrong goalie this series. Alzner is NOT a NHL player. The WRST D-MAN in the league.
How can a player who was plus 14 this season be the “WRST D-MAN” in the league?
that was then this is now.
watch him with your own eyes close
it is no coincidence that ALZNER has been on the ice for ALL 6 ranger goals the last 2 games and is -5 for the last 5 periods! and these numbers should be way worse had rangers been more accurate with their shooting.
BECAUSE EVERYTHING OBSERVER SAYS IN ALL CAPS IS 100% TRUE ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHAT EVIDENCE THERE IS TO THE CONTRARY OR HOW RIDICULOUS HE SOUNDS. ALZNER IS OBVIOUSLY A WORSE DEFENSEMAN THAN SHANE HNIDY.
Washington looking like last year’s version without the scoring.
same team just that karl alzner gets too much ice time.
….Ignored.
Two Rag goals in 7 secs against the Ovys late in 2nd period.
Now 3-0.
Collars tightenin’.
So, that genius who told me last NYR/Was game that I was wrong saying Karl Alzner is as worthless as teats on a bull! Go ahead and tell me how well he has done tonight. This is the worst defenseman in the NHL. Totally lost.
Except every goal you blamed on Alzner last game was actually Carlson blowing coverage, but I wouldn’t expect you to know that because you don’t understand the fundamentals of the game.
how about today. ok karlson caused one of the 2 on 1s they didnt score on. but the other 3 plus are you watching him? he is lost he followed girardi around when he could have stopped him right behind the net. he falls down on his own with the pucjk causing another chance. he as i said stands in front of the net and watches rangers shoot.
it is no coincidence that ALZNER has been on the ice for ALL 6 ranger goals the last 2 games and is -5 for the last 5 periods!
Are you off your meds again Tony?
_Habsoloutly_
yes alzner definately needs some powerful drugs because he needs serious help to compete with these guys.
Alzner is on, because he’s on the Capitals’ shutdown pair. It’s continually surprising how naive you are about the game. Alzner is playing against the best players on NYR.
Please get back on your meds dude, please.
In fairness, you’re so often completely out to lunch that it’s hard to fault someone for calling you out when you have a broken clock moment.
Except he didn’t have a broken clock moment. One bad game doesn’t make Alzner bad, especially when it was his partner making the mistakes. Alzner had the highest QualComp score of any Capitals this season, and managed a +14 despite starting most of his shifts in the defensive zone.
had nothing to do with eating – more to do with -5 and on the ice for all 6 goals. if i was their coach he long ago would not get the chance to step on the ice.
And that’s why you’re not a coach.
All season long I thought the Caps were saving themselves for the playoffs.
Maybe they’re just not good anymore?
Seems they lost some depth and chemistry with guys like Fleischmann leaving. However last year they benefited a lot from extraordinarily high shooting percentage.
