Bad idea.
Very bad idea.
I’ll spare readers the gruesome details. Suffice it to say I saw more of the South Shore than anyone would ever want to.

Luca Ciampini of the Q has already notched himself 7 points in his first 3 games with the Halifax Mooseheads. He is in his sophmore season with the junior team and is coming off a disappointing injury riddled season where he notched 8 goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 37 games. I’d say if he is able to keep up this pace he might be an interesting draft prospect for the Habs come June.
Wait…how can Yemelin have been the most impressive today after he was so disrespectful to show up overweight and out of shape.
You mean a guy’s physique isn’t 100% linked to his ON-ICE play?
Oh the humanity. I don’t have any idea what to do with myself now…my whole world has been rocked off its axis.
Wake me up when pre-season is over. I have a feeling there will be a lot more stupidity to endure between now and the season opener.
Embrace the insanity!!
Trade Mark pending.
We got Hits Baited hard yesterday. You might even say that it was masterfully done.
And I seem to have taken a hit right here. Makes you wonder indeed!!!
Now if you can translate that into LAtin, you could promote that as HIO’s motto
Chris the issue is, what’s he going to be feeling fatigue-wise after playing 20 minutes in an NHL game? Doesn’t do him any good to carry useless weight he has to shed.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
SF09 on Twitter
And I doubt he will. First game isn’t for a couple of weeks. Hockey players plow through the weight pretty fast. As long as he’s got the muscle bulk (which won’t disappear), he’ll be fine.
Anybody know what kind of shape Ian Schulz showed up to camp in. I recall hearing in the past that he doesn’t always take conditioning as serious as he should.
Abe Hefter interviewed him and said he’d lost 20 lbs.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Thanks Andrew.
glad to see Yemelin is doing what has been promised… as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone.
Can’t wait to see him go up against other teams.
as for the Doughty contract talks… hmm i wonder what the reactions would be if Doughty was European and not a good ol’ Canadian boy.
——————
The 2010-11 Stanley Cup was not won, but given
Emmy sounds a little uppity and disrespectful. Joffrey Lupul has already heard some mutterin’ around the league.
I’m eyeballin’ JM will ruin* him by game 12 of the regular season.
* bench
Yes, but it will be for his own good. And Yemelin will tell us this in Russian, so one of us has to brush up for translations.
Yeaahhh!! Nyet!
Um, anybody seen my pants?
***Subbang Baby!!!***
For those bored enough to ponder the genesis of this question, please see the thread immediately below.
Truly LMFAO…nasty!!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait to see Emmy on the ice crushing leaf players.
For the people wondering about Ian Schultz…apparently in the first half, he had 4 out of the 8 shots for his White Team and then scored in the second half.
But can he still fight?
Hey Frank, do you have an email for Brian or any other way he and I can connect off the site? We tried last night but HI/O doesn’t have email links these days. Of course this would mean you and I would have to have a way to link up off site…hmmm…dilemma.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
pen & paper handy?
yes but i don’t want you posting it
***Subbang Baby!!!***
My name is Sylvain and I have the same problem as Mike and Andrew… Although I live in Florida… Is that a good excuse?
We all do!!
Embrace the insanity is what I say…
As for Yemelin hitting hard. Remember this time last season PK put Hunter out with a concussion and he never really did get going last season.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w66EpD6eDk8
Also PK POed Pleks twice in practices with hard hits.
Those were hard Hab hits.
I like!
Trade Mark (TM) to follow?
I see what you did there.
And what a sign of things to come that was. If Emelin’s performance is a similar precursor, we should all be very happy.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Thanks for the hit Boone
My memory of him will always be a post on here a long time ago that made me spit my drink everywhere. Someone said he is waiting for the moment that it is revealed Spacec is an elaborate Dan Akroid gag.
No denying the glacier like speed of he and Gill,Timo.
Anyone wants to practice their “Player X blows by Spacek” line?
Made me LOL. Don’t get me wrong, I like Spacek… he seems like a good guy, just approaching Hal Gill speed territory.
Like I said before. By year’s end we’ll be calling him sPAYCHECK.
Price v Budaj 0-0. Change goalies and the goals start coming. I think that’s a good thing.
If Yemelin is hitting his own team with such abandon, I can’t wait to see what he does to the other teams. Between him and PK, we finally have a couple of trucks on the back end that will keep offences a little more honest
I like to hear that Spacek has reported to camp ripped. I have a soft spot for him from his performance in the Wash and Pitts series’ a couple of years ago. Looks like he may be playing solid minutes to start the year.
At the golf tournament, MP67 said he was looking forward to fetting that first big hit and that one of his teammates may have to do it – careful what you wish for!
I think it’ll be good for Patches long term to just get any doubts out of the way.
They’ll be fine once they cut the team down to preseason game size.
I agree that Spac had a great playoff in 2010. I don’t think he sucks near as bad as a lot of posters here do. He battled some injuries last year and probably realizes you have to intensify your summer training schedule as you get older.
And he has played on his off side since he was acquired. That is tough to do at any level, let alone the NHL. Especially when trying to win puck battles along the boards and keeping the puck in at the blue line. His Olympic performance was amazing as well.
Gorges is another one that I have to defend all the time to people who dont seem to appreciate some types of players.
HH – I couldnt find the support group link. I guess I will have to wait for treatment at the summit. Boone sounds like he could be our resident pharmacist.
Something that a lot of people miss is that PK is also playing on his wrong side. Come PP when they put him on his right side, look out.
PS: God, I hate having to be Politically Correct, cause I had a beauty there
P.K. isn’t playing on his off side, he’s always been on right defense. He switches to the left side for the PP so he can get one-timers.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Andrew check out video of his Junior career and go back to Team Canada and the Bulldogs. Most of the time he is playing LD.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htrF7N97qP8&feature=related
Frank, remember that Subban is all over the place when he’s on the ice, and a lot of that clip is on the PP. From my understanding he’s been playing right side D for the last 4 years at the least. It’s only natural because he’s right handed, so that’s the most advantageous position.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
And my understanding is the opposite because he finds it is easier to shoot from the left then the right. Notice that he generally takes wristers from the Right and Slappers from the Left.
I guess we will just have to wait and enjoy seeing the results.
He was a RD in most of the games I saw him play in Belleville and the Memorial Cup run in Kitchener.
Of course, that is just where he lined up on the face-off. Subban was the ultimate libero. He’d often chase guys right out of the zone…positional play was NOT his strength in the OHL.
Ssshh!!
Finally got the last word in with Andrew…hope he doesn’t notice.
Yeah, but now you’re trying to do it to me too! And we can’t have that.
The only thing I have to add is, “Last!!”
Smarta$$ you mean!
I’m back and buzzed cause I scored my tix for the March 6 game here in Calgary. Should be warmer this time and hoping for a better result.
how did u manage to get tickets, when i checked online, tickets arent even on sale yet
I got my tickets on Ebay.. for the home opener.
Wow. Yemelin is sounding like a freaking force thus far! A hitting machine. Haha as long as he doesn’t injure somebody from our team I think we’re in for a treat with him.
I know hes trying to make an impression, but now that hes destroyed a couple people.. I hope they tell him to save the rest of the hitting for pre season games. lol
Definitely. He’s just giving everyone what they wanted. Punishing physical presence. His teammates won’t like it in practice but I’m sure Price will love him during games. But yeah, I’d say he can lay off a little now lol.
Seems like he’s thoroughly pissed off Patches.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Yeah that seems to be a problem..maybe they should bunk together during the teams bonding trip!
These things happen during camp. I sincerely doubt it would spill over into preseason/regular season hostility.
I agree DL.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
You know you are starved for the habs when you are refreshing the page to read game notes from a pre-season scrimmage….My name is andrew and I have a problem
My name is Mike, and I have the same problem as Andrew!
- Honestly yours
Same.. refreshing between this, twitter, and hfboards.. hopefully see some video later today.
HIO Anonymous meetings are on the other thread.
Crazy Fans… Imagine, you expect a guy to come into TRAINING CAMP in stellar condition… Yemelin is in decent shape.. and with a few weeks of working out he will be lean. Give the guy a break, conditioning/training camp is when you get in shape to be ready for the season.
In the 70′s that’s what it was, not anymore.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
rest is important too.. letting the soft tissue in the joints regenerate in the off season.. wear and tear on ligaments heals.. time off is crucial.
I don’t think you need 4+ months.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
While you’re right that rest is essential, rest for a professional athlete is different from the every day joe.
They’re getting paid to play, which carries with it the responsibility to show up in shape. Sounds like he’s bowling people over so that’s a plus, but he’ll have to shape up and stay in shape if he wants to play 82 games in an NHL season plus playoffs.
“Yemelin left his feet to belt Schultz in the slot.”
Nice! lol
“Yemelin BIG hip-check on MaxPac”
Not so nice!
- Honestly yours
Dammitt..
My sentiments exactly.
- Honestly yours
Max said in an interview the other day he was looking forward to the first big hit against him.
Probably didnt envision a hip check that sent him flipped over his head though.. lol
Yeah, going ass-over-tea kettle is never fun.
- Honestly yours
I think the headmaster is taking his new job a little too seriously.
An end of day wrap-up will suffice!
It’s now officially past 11AM, Mike. Sit back and have a cold one.
I hope you mean a cold lemonade.
No Gomez? Tinordi laid a big hit on “someone” ?
What happend to Gomez?

“That’s the save of the year and it’s not even the year yet!”
The implications of Emelin coming into camp out of shape, and why fans are justified in being upset.

Like I said yesterday, everyone is over reacting.
http://www.hockeyinsideout.com/wp-content/gallery/montreal-canadiens-physicals-sept-16-2011/canadiens10.jpg
He looks fine in that picture. The guy can play hockey, with or without a 6 pack.
He does look a lot better in that picture, but at the same time, who doesn’t look skinnier with their hands over their head? It pulls the skin taut. I think it’s legitimate to question Emelin’s commitment when he shows up in that kind of shape. At the same time I don’t think it’s AS big a deal as some do. From all reports today he looks awesome in the scrimmage.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Andrew, he is a new guy to North America and seeing the other guys train should correct any problems.
I agree. I’m not actually worried about him, but I think people have a legitimate reason to complain about it, unlike most of the wailing on HIO.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Boone don’t get us worked up about a Gomez rumor!
Chrisadiens and HabFan10912, one of the few father son tandems on HIO.
Care to elaborate on the “No Gomez” remark? If he’s not there, why?
- Honestly yours
!Boone you should set up a postcard like one of your live game blogs!
Also so happy hockey is back. Cant wait for the season to start.
“I savour it every day, sometimes before practice I’m skating around and I’ll look at the logo on my jersey – I’m playing for the Canadiens!”
- Mathieu Darche
Well based on the practise teams sure looks like all that tweaking we did all summer paid off!
Appears to be Cole/Camm/Pleck, Mpac/Gome/Gio and AK/Eller/DD.
So obviously PG/JM are reading all our posts. Nice to know what a contribution we all have to this roster and its formation.
This is great had the broadest smirk reading this postcard. Thank you all the way from the southernmost point in the continental USofA key west. Damn wish I was there!
Who hit Mitera? How does Pacioretty look?
west islanders are such frigging n00bs
TAKE THE VICTORIA
gets you right onto victoria
keep going
lapinierre

boom your there
“Suffice it to say I saw more of the South Shore than anyone would ever want to.”
please perpetuate, we dont mind
The Victoria is a great bridge. Its not every day that you can drive on a bridge with no actual road, on a surface that throws your car around randomly, with no shoulder if someone breaks down, that was riveted together sometime during the 14th Century. And where they will occasionally run traffic head-to-head down one lane, just to see how many side-mirrors get dinged off.
not to mention the random configuring on the shore
no doubt its an adventure
but it gets the job done lol
i mean taking the mercier to get to brossard?
who does that o_0
There’s only a few things I don’t miss about living in Montreal. The above is one of them though.
- Honestly yours
Wuss!
Correction: Wuss with an intact suspension on his car.
- Honestly yours
“… no actual road, on a surface that throws your car around randomly”… you have just described EVERY single drivable surface in montreal

The 2010-11 Stanley Cup was not won, but given
HAhaha, true.
Thanks SamtheMan for some great advice on attending these practices. Gonna pack the kids in the car tomorrow or Monday. Can’t wait to see the guys on the ice!!
Is a 5 hour drive worth it for a scrimmage? Im starting to think so. Have fun SD, give us some updates yea?
Chrisadiens and HabFan10912, one of the few father son tandems on HIO.
Well, one thing Sam said is that it’ll be less crowded on ‘regular’ training days so you might be more likely to get an autograph or see the team closer. Of course, it’ll be more exciting this week-ed.
With 3 small kids, for me, it’s a much better option than taking them to a game! Almost as exciting for them – and much more managable (and cheaper) for me! I’ll let you know how it goes.
*****WARNING: Testing out new dog icons for the coming season. *****
