Plekanec, Halpern day to day

The Habs had a look at a new defenceman for Thursday’s game. Name is Carey Price. Helmet looks a little weird, but he’s got a heck of a shot. Spies shot this from seventh-floor press gallery with a video camera, taken at great personal risk. An anonymous fellow spy from La Presse whom we’ll identify only as “Marc-Antoine Godin” reports that Price, er, borrowed P.K. Subban’s gloves and Benoit Pouliot’s stick for the tryout. Another photo below.

Canadiens coach Jacques Martin reports that forwards Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Halpern, who missed the third period of Tuesday’s game vs. Washington with lower-body injuries, are considered day to day and might be available to play Thursday at home vs. Tampa Bay. Neither injury is deemed long-term.

The aching Habs took their second team photo of the season on Bell Centre ice at 10:30 am, the post-trade deadline version that is considered the official 2010-11 club portrait. As he usually is for practice, Plekanec was first on the ice for the photo.

Not on hand, but to be Photoshopped into the final image, were Max Pacioretty, Andrei Markov and Josh Gorges, all injured and unavailable to pose, and Hal Gill, who stayed home ill. Jaroslav Spacek, rehabbing from arthroscopic knee surgery, wore his jersey with shorts, knee socks and sneakers.

Only four Canadiens practised following the 10-minute photo session: Alex Auld, Alexandre Picard, Mathieu Darche and Brent Sopel. The rest of the team worked out off ice.

Carey Price lets fly after the Canadiens’ four-man practice Wednesday.

You’re right that Bettman is supported by most GM’s.

But my point was that the Bruins owner is the one who gets the last signature on Bettmans extension papers so the shock over the Bruins getting away with more than we think they should isn’t that shocking.

  2. RGM says:

“Ohhhhh,” the Bruins fans will say, “you have to slow it down to make it look truly bad though. It’s a high speed game and things don’t happen in slow motion. You can take all the still frames you want of Chara ‘supposedly’ guiding what’s his name into the stanch…stant…pad but it doesn’t make it true.”

    Go Habs Go!

  3. observer says:

Montreal has more fans not from the city than other teams have. In Toronto 90% of those cheering for the Habs live there. In Buffalo too there are a lot of Habs fans and out west. And in states, more than Leafs have for sure.

  4. Danno says:

So does soccer. Fans and analysts alike fear the rise in violence will ruin their sport. In this article they point the finger at the NHL as the wrong direction to take. Very interesting piece from across the pond…

That would be awesome for us, not so much for everyone else.

Ahh, one can only dream, eh!

  6. Jordio-oh says:

If this was last year, there would be at least a half dozen fans yelling “oh look at Carey skate around in a warm up suit and goofing around. He should be working hard on his game!!!!!! “

  7. observer says:

he also bashes them on team 990 has nothing to do with tsn. actually he doesnt knock the habs only boivin, gainey and gauthier

  8. DarthWade says:

If this wasn’t so sad, it’d be hilarious.

So Pax faked it, the entire Habs organization faked it, and the entire province of Quebec faked it, just so we can get that big meanie Chara suspended. This is awesome. So Chara is such an amazing player that we all launched this great scheme to suspend him and send Bruins into ruin so we’d win the Cup. Sigh.

If we do meet them in the first round, I hope to hell we annihilate them just so we can send these yahoos up the wall.

Some people are stupid, but some are epically stupid.

  9. Rudy says:

Yup, exactly what I thought when I saw it on Twitter. Amazing how people’s perception changes.

  10. ed lopaz says:

I have heard him praising the Habs when he was working for CJAD.

Habs hockey is “smart” hockey – we play 5 man defence, not just 2 – we move up the ice as a 5 man unit, we back check with 5.

  11. observer says:

yes, he’s mad at boivin – he said on the radio when boivin got that job boivin knew zilch about hockey and called up mcguire to come in and explain him the way the game is operated. and mcguire did and boivin never spoke to him again.

  12. Bill J says:

Wow Nordiques fans believe this BS too ?

Robert L posted this in August, 2009 –

Read up on the subject a bit K ;)

Its only normal, when you get results you get the benefit of the doubt. Would you tell a self made millionaire to stop slacking off?

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

Anyone know where I can find the OTR segment that Pat Hickey was on? I can’t watch it through because I am in the States and it’s blocked.

c/p cnn –Geest — RUN FOR THE HILLS AMERICA!!! We are no match for their hockey-stick wielding hoardes! Our minds will be turned to jelly by Celine Dion played at top volume and when its all over people here will have to eat sweet ketchup, put vinegar on their fries and drink pop!
  21. wd40 says:

    sure did… creepy!

  22. TorontoHabsFan says:

That Marchand elbow to the head should be, a sizeable suspension. The fact that Umberger wasn’t hurt shouldn’t enter into the equation – that was an extremely dangerous and stupid thing to do.

  23. Timo says:

Only makes sense. YOu get results you get some slack. You don’t (Gomez, Cammi) – no slack.

  24. Bill J says:

Nice timing to do it against the team that drafted him :)

  25. The Cat says:

    Did you read it? lol

never get approval from any of those cities you mentioned. Be years away for Hamilton getting a franchise and the maritimes is just not economically possible.
