“The ghosts are gone. The Canadiens have two choices, try and win the cup or be French Canadian” – Ken Dryden
Mathematics can be a tease at best. The Montreal Canadians are not making the playoffs with the 3 point game in play. It ain’t happnin’ folks, dream on ! Sure there is a possibility, but right now, the post season is too far away for it to make it worth considering at this point. It’s a pipe dream and I don’t really care about numbers at the moment, they don’t mean squat. For me,I just want the management to make wise decisions with what we have left and that means ,and this is a no brainer, get Mathieu Darche off this team as soon as possible. He is not an NHL player and he never was one in the first place. Is that clear, you got that, it don’t matter about how many players are on the team from Quebec…that is not a prerequisite to be part of this team, although it makes good for selling newspaper (Montreal Gazette) the home team rag that needs all the help it can get to get people to buy it, let alone read the junk in it…Boone and HIO excluded. I do read the sports, but that can be said for all newspapers when it comes to me. All I want is a competitive team with the best players available to us in the line up. All the crap written about Cammalleri after the fact is a load of bunk, he said what he said and it is what it is…I liked him, and I’m glad he said how he felt, at least he had the balls to say it, unlike the wimps we have on this team who wouldn’t say shit if their mouth was full of it. I do wish all this french/ English crap stop…it was never really an issue in the first place, save for a small number of doe heads who decided it was worthy of them to bring this to light. Play it out boys and play it hard and tough. Just do the best with what we have here and on the farm. Louie is ready in my view, he proved that when he was up. He would help and his confidence won’t be destryed any worse here than in Hamilton…they are the worst team in the AHL at the moment and he would be better off up here with Darche out of the picture for good. I don’t think the team is listening much to what Cunneyworth is saying anyway since Gauthier already threw him under the bus a long time ago because of language. I do not think Gauthier should be allowed to be involved in any team decisions for the rest of the year. He should be fired promptly anyhow, he is a total joke for a hockey man and not a very good one at that. Move on people, lets just finish strong with whats left of the season…you can always cheer for the Leafs…ha ha !!
take your drink to the end of the bar buddy…come on now, don’t be a fool…
Where would Habs be in the standings this season without Carey Price? Price should just move on to another team like Pittsburgh? Maybe Habs should trade Price for Fleury straight up. Lets see how Price would make out then?
Just behind Columbus probably….
Price does well when the team has confidence. Maybe the secret is to sign players with a lot of confidence. Price is worth keeping if only to make sure that we win some games. Price is not fully developed yet.
HIO = HalakInsideOut
There is nowhere else, even the Blues Forum, that I can get up to the minute updates on all things Halak. Really cool, Thanks!!
Thanks for the laugh, LL!
Price will likely get what the other 24 yr old, 3 time all-star, franchise player goalies around the league get. (are there any of those?)
You’d have to expect about the same sort of deal as Fleury, Ward, Rinne, Hillier, Miller, Kipper, and Lundqvist etc. Somewhere between 4.5 and 6.5 million per year, probably around 3 yrs. Most likely right in the middle of that somewhere at 5.5 Mill or so. St Louis is happy with Halak, and Elliot, the Habs are happy with Price. Good for both teams, good for both players. Now the fans need to be as grown up as the kids being discussed already.
Except with the part about English not being a crime. Oh, I get it… you don’t live in Quebec. Good one! Had me goin’!
Listen to the Smart Dog. He knows his poop!
Id like to know how Price is better than Halak. The only things that make people side with Price is his age, nationality and his stamina. Halak stole more games in 2 weeks with the habs than Price’s whole time with the habs. Euro goalies, it seems, can never be good enough. Its fine that he can start 70 games, but you got to win the games.
[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.
Plus he gives up soft game tying or go ahead goals to the opponents and has a hard time winning shootouts. Hes very unclutch. People saying Price is great is like americans saying the Iraq war was about freedom.
Hmmm tell that to the real Hab fans (not you, we know) who consistently give him enough star votes to keep winning the Molson Cup.

Go Habs Go!
Who esle can they give it to? I can say that Price battles and tries the most of anybody on the ice for the habs.
Well Erik Cole I think deserves it.
I’m with you Shaker, my post was rhetorical.
Really bugs me when the Halakites claim Price sucks, when he’s clearly been our best player as chosen by the fans.
Yeah they all thought signing Markov was just a great idea too.
TWO STEPS TO STOP THE GOALIE INSANITY:
1. STOP talking like Price is the best goalie in the league. He’s good, he may in the long run be great. But his numbers this year are quite average (not even that) so he doesn’t deserve to be deified and he doesn’t deserve a $7 million/year salary.
2. STOP talking like you know that Price will be seen as great long term and Jaro will be seen as average. You can’t know that. And if you look at Jaro’s run lately, he’s proving that his play-off performance wasn’t a one-time thing. The guy is GOOD. He could be better than Price in the long term. Or not. But so what. It’s a coin toss right now… we could only keep one, we kept one. We got a good player in return. Move on!
Good post SD.
I have no issues with the trade and who the Habs kept. What really grinds my gears, is when the Habs win with Price in nets, it is all because of him, when they lose with Price in nets, his team let him down.
With Halak, same thing. He wins, well that is because his team is so good in front of him or the other team is without their best players. When he loses, he sucks, he let the team down.
How dare fans of the team sing the praises of their team’s lone all-star and franchise player!?!
Well said, I’ve been searching ways to be this diplomatic about the tenders but you nailed it! Everyone on here knocks the other tender down just to raise their guy up that on their own tender pedestal. I keep hearing about Price’s potential, and his pedigree and his resume and his ability to play lots of minutes……which is all great, but other than a blazing start to his career and a very good year numbers wise year last year……that’s his claim to fame. Then halak, who was a bottom round draft pick, took a while to establish himself……got the team into the playoffs one year and really was the backbone to the two upsets the habs had, then was traded, signed a decent contract in st.louis, the habs got a good prospect in return and now under a better blues team, with a better coach and a very even split playing time, is really showing his worth. Sure Carey needs a better supporting cast, but his play at times has been less than stellar. Can he do better? Yes, will he do better? let’s hope so, but for the contract that is being thrown around on here, I don’t see how he can get that based on potential. It will handcuff not only him but the team itself. 5 to 5.5 mill per is very reasonable contract for both sides……i’d be okay with Price signing here for that term over about 6 years. He’s the number one and I believe in him, but sooner hopefully more than later, he’s got to step up and dominate even more than last year, especially 1 on 1!
Hey Dog. Heres two for you.
Stop cheering for another teams goaltender at the expense of YOUR teams #1.
Stop directing posts at the people who are NOT stirring the pot. Price fans don’t talk about Jaro half as much as the other away around
Does Jack Todd write for La Presse? Man he is negative. This so called team that needs blown up has not been run out of rinks this year. They are losing by a very close margin and often after taking the lead into the third period. From what I’ve seen, the difference is often a let up that could have been avoided by everyone pulling their weight. Cammy was one of them…very little in the way of effort many nights. The Bell Centre faithful booed him before he opened his pie hole.
Jacks rant on PK and Price is completely unwarranted. Subban is playing better under Rc and Price is paying the price for the third period let downs and playing alot of hockey in the first half. If PG put either of those 2 on the auction block, he would get some very nice offers. I hope he doesn’t, those kind of players are not a-dime-a-dozen.
Knock it off Jack Todd.

The Great Dumbrowski derides!
Hilarious that the mods would remove my reply to Sholi’s comment about Price getting 10 million. There was nothing offensive about it.
I guess Sholi is a mod or somebody is trying to protect him from getting his ass handed to him.
