Pierre Allard replaces Lorne Goldenberg, whom the Canadiens fired as their strength and conditioning coach after one season.
Allard, who will be 38 next month, is a native of Montreal who played professional hockey in Europe, including five seasons with the Manchester Storm of the English league.
He has a B.Sc in kinesiology from the Université de Montréal and, in 2004, founded Allard Training.
Allard’s personal training clients include Bruno Gervais of the Islanders (who Tweeted the news; the team hasn’t announced it) and Penguins Max Talbot and Kristopher Letang.
