Well Miller admitted he didn’t have a concussion …Lucic didn’t hit Miller in the head.
This is a complete falsehood Boston fans like to keep spreading. The fact is Miller said he had disk damage (quite serious) in his neck and wasn’t sure if he had actually been concussed. However, doctors both at the time and subsequently diagnosed him with a concussion, his own doubts notwithstanding.
Guy didn’t miss 8 games because he was faking it, and the idea that Lucic breaking his neck is somehow sooo much better than Lucic concussing him is stupid. Once again Boston fans make excuses for why the severe injuries their players cause don’t really count.
How dare Miller impede Tootoo’s progress. That’s interference and then he just piles on with punches. I’m sorry. That’s a minimum 2 games for Miller.

I’m convinced Shanahan will suspend Tootoo as the latter doesn’t play for the Boston Bruins..otherwise he gets off.

This is total garbage and I totally agree with Ruff and I’m not a Sabres fan but whats right is right. Ruff is correct that it’s open season on goalies, but the main difference between Tootoo and Lucic and by no way am I a Bruins fan either is that Tootoo went right threw the crease and Lucic was an open ice collision and thats what Shanny will say but Tootoo should have the book thrown at him 5 to 10 games.
If the molsons are satisified with being average, then they’ve got the perfect coach, GM and consultant and thet don’t have to change anything

how can the habs or gainey be considered mediocrity…since the 2003/2004 season ( gainey’s first ) the habs have missed the playoffs once..2005/06: koivu gets hurt or maybe the habs go to the finals… 2007/08 lose in the 2nd round …2009/10 beat OV and Sid the Kid and 2010/11 lose in game 7 to a Hot Tim Thomas …how is Bob Gainey a stooge…Wake up hab fans they will NOT win the cup every year…those days ended in the 70′s…just make the playoffs… that is the best chance for any team to win the cup ….AND THEY HAVE DONE THAT

Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
My buddies and I were having a discussion pertaining to the crease.
It seems to me they should now paint it grey, as in the grey-zone.
There was a time when you couldn’t score while standing in the crease. Then, a teams’ goal was dis-allowed if a player was in the crease.
And hitting or even lightly tugging at a goalie was an automatic 2-minute.
The rules seem to have receded, or the refs just aren’t reinforcing them.
Is it me, of have the rules changed?
Happy to see that Leblanc is getting a longer look at what it takes to be an everyday NHL player. This kind of experience can only help him develop when he inevitably gets sent back down to Hamilton.
Hopefully Palushaj can replicate what his fellow Michigan alumnus Pacioretty did last year and become a more dominant player in Hamilton after struggling in Montreal.

Ian – I like DD a lot but I’m not sure he has the wheels that Captain Cournoyer displayed.
I see DD being a perfect 3rd line centre until somebody better comes along (keeping in mind we presently don’t have any hotshot centres in our system).
Steve- Right now he is our second best center man and if Martin keeps Plekanic on the PP point (which he did not last night, about time) DD would be our #1

If this gets a suspension, then it will be purely to make up for the non-suspension on Lucic.

If Tootoo wanted to run Miller he would have just drilled into him head on. Tootoo IMO tried to jump over Miller to lessen the impact.

I loved the way DD played against those big guys out on the coast. I love seeing guys who beat the odds, when it comes to playing hockey through hard work.

Which is why I found it a little unsettling at how many wanted to trade him earlier in the year.
I’ve said it all along, he’s our version of Marty St Louis.
He’s got great vision and a very good play-maker, and as you pointed out, his size seems to be less of a factor.

The lack of consistency in the NHL disciplinary matters means that every little thing is thought to be a suspendable offence now, resulting in much braying to the heavens if the offender “gets away with it” for whatever reason is dreamed up as a rationale. C’mon, he barreled into the goalie, sure, but he was given five and a game for it. That’s a sufficient penalty against the player for a play that has a substantial grey area regarding intent, and did not result in an injury. There have been far worse collisions that don’t even get two minutes (several involving our goalie) and contact is part of the game. Yes it happened right in the goalie’s crease to a goalie that just returned from a concussion, but that type of thing doesn’t factor into a decision by the disciplinary committee. The fact that Pacioretty had his neck broken a few months ago certainly didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt with the committee, right? Not everything has to result in a suspension for crying out loud.

Who does he have to prove it to, though? Lindy Ruff? One of the biggest blowhard coaches in the NHL calls him out so he thinks that Shanny’s backed into a corner – I just don’t see it playing out that way. Generally that sort of thing tends to backfire – think of the Murray situation in LA a year ago when he called out the League and ending up eating a huge fine.

He tried harder than Lucic. It’s not easy to just stop when you are going full speed through a turn with a guy leaning on you. It looks like he tried to cut to the middle but couldn’t because of the Dman on him. He tried to jump out of the way but that really didn’t do anything. He’ll get suspended. Shanahan will make up some bullshit that because of the angle of his skates as he progressed forward into the driving position that it transfluxed his weight into a power mode which was intentionally done in order to to injure, and he’s a repeat offender. I can see him getting 6-8 games. Mark my words. Then shit will go down, except nothing will come of it, and the Bruins will get away with it again.
Is it suspension worthy though? If anything is handed down to 22 then it’s to make up for the missed call on Lucic, maybe to send a message that if you’re not a star/veteran and on a team that doesn’t rhyme with Boston, then you have to answer to your actions. Personally this doesn’t seem different than all the other goalie interference penalties handed out in a lot of games.
But hey, I also said that Pacioretty’s hit was the same as Boogard’s, which did not warrent a suspension. Boy did Shannahan disagree, he said it was more like Matt Cooke’s!
Shanahan has made his decision. Due to Tootoo’s hit on Miller, Pacioretty will have to sit out another two games!

The things I look at when Shanny is going to make a ruling are which teams are involved, where are they in the standings, and is it going to cost the league in revenue.
I hope Markov takes all the time he needs to get better. His salary is off the books for now. It’ll be like bring on the winning side of a trade once he’s better. No need to rush a couple knee injuries. He may be a little tentative when he gets back but that part of dealing with a huge injury. White, on the other hand, will be a beast when he gets back. Not a debilitating injury, he’s going to make up for lost time and hit everything that moves. He’s young, when I talked to him he said he loved playing for montreal and will do whatever it takes for him to stay there and prove that he earned his first one way contract… Way more than Darche (although he’s playing well, just not productive). As for the Tootoo hit, no suspension. Maybe a fine but no suspension. He was going hard to the net but had nowhere to go thanks to the Sabres’ d. No intent and got the crap kicked out of him afterwards. Hats off to David Perron on his return and scoring. The habs should be so lucky to trade for him
It’s hard to say this, but I think Tootoo is a scapegoat. I don’t think it was that bad, definitely a penalty, but not suspendable. Shanny will suspend him for 5 games and say “see, I told you, next time we’re going to get serious”. It’s easy for Shanny to do this, cause Tootoo’s not a Bruin, plays in a non-hockey market and he has always been reckless.
Time’s up, JM must go!

You really wouldn’t prefer that he plays 20-25 minutes a game in Hamilton? I’m surprised because it’s pretty well known that Latendresse’s progress suffered because fans and management were so excited for the guy to be our next Lafleur. Pacioretty was a prime example of how developing in the AHL as a first liner is better than developing on the 3rd and 4th lines here
he got 12 minutes of ice time id like to seen him get 14-15 minutes and keep him here
I’d also like to see Eller get more ice time, but that’s just not in the cards

Most knowledgeable hockey fans don’t hate Lucic. They hate how the Bs get away with crookery, similar to fishing using a gov’t hellicopter.
I’d love to have a Lucic on our team. But he’d have to change his ways, because sporting a Habs jersey is not a license to injure. Only the black and gold jersey will buy you that pass.
They also have Jacobs whose dealings with Bettman have quietly made him a powerful man in hockey. The contract extension he was instrumental in giving Bettman, seems to let the Bruins call their own shots
Huge differences between Lucic and this. First of all, Tootoo is taking the puck to the net on a HOCKEY play, secondly, Tootoo makes an effort to avoid miller, by trying to jump over in. The only upwards motion that Lucic made was the swinging of his arms to maximize contact.
That being said, he’ll get 5-10 games, simply because he doesn’t wear black and gold.
