Note to readers

Over the last month, we’ve been having some trouble adjusting to a new server setup for Habs Inside/Out.

As a result, at times many readers are unable to access the site or find it slow to load, especially before, during and after Habs games.

We’re working with our new systems administrator to help diagnose and fix these problems as quickly as possible.

We really appreciate your patience and perseverance as we monitor traffic patterns on the site on game nights and throughout the day.

We understand that these technical issues can be incredibly frustrating at times, but hope that you will bear with us as we work toward a resolution.

Thank you.

Team HIO = Hi I’m Offline.

Spend money it’s that easy. You’re making some, probably more than the printed version, so now’s the time to solidify your position. Look I dislike the Gazette for several reasons that have to do with their Editorial and Commentary policy. But

But they have Gold right now, so buy the servers or get on the Cloud with Amazon EC2.

It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.

Tiffany Replica Reviews Replica Chanel Handbags: Chanel’s New Price Just Solidifies My Stance Feb 15, 2010 / Posted in Chanel by Sofia 62

As if they weren’t expensive enough, Chanel has plans to raise the prices of their handbags this month. The increase in price will vary from bag to bag, but could be as much as 15-20% on many bags according to Madison Avenue Spy. Moreover, Chanel plans to limit production to make their handbags scarcer and increase demand. This is yet another reasonnot that we needed oneto opt for affordable replica Chanel handbags over the real thing. Designer handbags by Chanel and Louis Vuitton are already exorbitantly expensivewhy do they only want to permit the super rich to look fabulous?

Is your handbag weighing you down? A lot of women, myself included, are filling their fabulously spacious replica Louis Vuitton handbags to the brim and silently suffering as a result from neck and back pain. That’s why I decided to dedicate this post to addressing the difficult task of pairing down the contents of our handbagsif only to save on chiropractor bills down the road!

With all of the new spring/summer designer handbag collections boasting massive roomy bagssome that even hang below the kneethe temptation is to fit absolutely all of your possessions into your bag and leave nothing at home. Why? Because we can. And like a good girl scout, I myself like to be prepared. But when I’m carrying my cell phone, iPod, all manners of beauty essentials, keys, sunglasses, hair brush, gym stuff,Hermes, digital camera, 2 moleskin notebooks, glasses, wallet (that itself is roomier than some condos I’ve seen), water bottle, extra-strength ibuprofen, er, “feminine” products, unreturned DVD rentals, whatever novel I’m reading, hand lotion, and a mini umbrella all in the same handbag, I start to feel a little like a beast of burden. And with good reason.

Myhandbagcity.com is another one of those sites out there that has been around for some time and comes in a variety of names. They shamelessly ship poor quality products for the price of top quality replica. I would hate to see any of my friends and fellow replica shoppers be duped by them. It would be great if everyone who comes across one of their sites post the domain name in the comments so we can all be informed. Below is my in depth review of this site.

    Quality:

I ordered one of their Louis Vuitton handbags since LV is my favourite. I selected the Mahina bag in black. It arrived with many glaring flaws. They texture is kind of plastic and the colour is off. I have been messing with the buckles for hours and I cant make it look rounded like it should. The real Mehina bag has a brown interior this one has a black. Plus it does not have LVs on it or if it does it is so faded you cant really see it. Some times when I look at it in the light I think I can see something but then a shadow falls on it and it disappears. There was no dustbag included that really is the most important of the extras in my book since I will need to put this bag in storage. This might be an okay replica if it was really cheap but actually it was pretty expensive so I have got to take a point off.

The advertisers have a right to bitch.

The “talent” has a right to bitch when content they intend to put up on the server is wiped out.

You, as a content consumer, have a right to bitch whenever you want.

But everyone has a right not to pay attention to you bitching as well. The bottom line here is that if habsinsideout.com goes down like it has been, that costs the Gazette money, more money over the long term than whatever the fix costs, most likely.

    Nice letter to management Mike.

Have you noticed the large drop in hits to each page in the last few weeks. We are losing HIO members to other sites it seems. I remember the days when we all knew that we had well over 1000 comments game night. Sure dropped off dramatically.

  18. MikeMcLaren says:

    Dear Montreal Gazette readers:

Over the past month we’ve been adjusting to a new printing press.

We’re sorry if you never received your paper, if your paper was late, if your paper was missing pages or if your paper contained everything except any column written by Mike Boone.

Would that be acceptable to Gazette management or subscribers or advertisers?

It’s a brave, new world, this new media.  If you want to think that the availability isn’t all that important because the readers aren’t directly paying to read it, you’d be mistaken.  It’s all about page views, all about click-throughs, all about advertising dollars and captivating content that brings back return visitors.

All those sexy bar graphs we see that show the audience growing and growing?  Those are more sexy to the folks who set the advertising rates at the Gazette.

No, habsinsideout.com isnt’ an e-commerce site and it’s not a bank either.  But it is still “mission critical.”  It’s a public-facing Internet site that gets a lot of views.  It brings in advertising dollars.  It pays the salaries of the all the great folks who write here and run the show.

So why have such fundamental tenets of the Information Technology industry been neglected?

High Availability.  Scalability.  Load-Balancing.  Robustness.  Fault-Tolerance.

I just think it should be VERY obvious to the people who can fix this just how important it really is to fix.  If it’s poor engineering or inexperience then let’s correct that (perhaps by the phrase “New Systems Administrator” they have handled that side of things?).  If it’s that the IT folks’ hands are tied by folks at the top not ponying up the dough they need to get it fixed right then stop being so penny-wise and pound-foolish.

    Frustrating is an understatement.

I’m curious to know what the root cause of all these problems are here.  How many servers host HIO?  Were they trying to put in a dedicated server or servers to handle Boone’s live blog because of the spikes in activity it got during games?  It seemed like that’s how this started.  Then the whole site went down during and after games.  Did they try to fix things by bringing all those servers into service but bad configurations on the new server or servers spread to the rest of the site?  But I guess that’s just curiosity.

What I want is for the site to work like it should and know how long it will be before we can reasonably expect that to happen.

Does anyone know if there are any out door rinks around St. Lambert or Brossard so we can skate.?

In the 60’s, St. Lambert had about 7.  I use to make ice and take care of the chalet for 4 winters.

I have been gone a long time, I do not know if they still have them.??

    Anyone live around there.??

I won’t complain any more than I have to. I’m just happy that this issue has been acknowledged to a point that it was the story of the day. I love this site and use it to fill all my needs regarding the Habs, when it goes down, I have to go elsewhere and needless to say, it’s not as enjoyable.

And despite the contrary to what some believe, this is a great community and I have met on several occassions some great people, some I dare even call real life friends.

  37. 24 Cups says:

The guy who runs the server for H I/O may not be performing that well, but we have to remember that Cammalleri and Gionta wouldn’t have signed with Montreal unless he was here.  He doesn’t do much in winter but he’s great once the playoffs begin.  He also brings a lot of intangibles to the site as well as two tech awards.  To be fair, he shouldn’t be judged by his salary.
