Sorry for being obnoxious, props for being generous,
y’all down, we booze hounds, take two drinks and pass.
Just saw the Pitt highlights, Talbot and Dupuis are leading this team and doing a great job. Both are UFA this year, Would you not like to have one or even both of these guys on the Habs? cap is being increased by about $3M next year, plenty to get at least one of those guys. Just the type I think the Habs could use going forward. Not exactly a top 6 forward but better than any of our current lower 6 and they can take min on the PK so current top 6 guys can rest. Good deals IMO
I’ve always kinda liked Talbot and wouldn’t mind having either of them on our team, I have a feeling they would want to stay in Pitts.
one word for the offseason BIEKSA.

I’ll see your word and raise you three more: WHY GOD WHY
VAN had to run out and hire a whole mess of defencemen last off-season because they knew Bieksa wasn’t anywhere near the calibre you need for a Cup run.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Talbot sure, but not Dupuis…

Thesis due the 19th, must not watch the first 3 games.
Who you kiddin’?
It’s not so bad. Last year’s US/Canada Gold Medal game, I was helping out on a US campaign who’s election was the day after the game. I made a deal with my boss whereby I was allowed to listen to the game in 1 ear while I talked to voters in the other, providing at all times I maintained the best numbers in the office.
I was actually able to work until 4 minutes left in the game and he took pity on me.
Finish your Thesis on the 13th. Pssh.
A couple of admittedly bitchy observations:
1. Anyone watch the 3rd period between Dallas and Minni? The battles in front of the net between Brendan Morrow (I think) and Brad Richards were freaking epic. We do not have a single player with the cojones to do that, excepting Patches. That’s what we need to get over the summer. And Jose Theodore was unbelievable in the 3rd, when it counted.
2. I can see both sides of the argument to play or not play Price in that last game of the year against the Leafs. I was against it, strongly, purely on a risk management basis. A lot of you guys were for playing them, and luckily nothing bad happened. As I said, I’m not going to fall on my sword over it, I just wouldn’t have done it. It was interesting to note, however, that today, Boston rested Thomas and Rask played in a loss. I guess you can also argue they were tuning up Rask in case he is needed.
3. I earlier made an admittedly snarky comment that Martin had only played PK and Price for the egotistical purpose of winning his 6ooth game. Some guys posted that JM was a great coach because he had won 600 games. After I realized that Ron Wilson has won 619 games – do we want him coaching Habs? I thought it was funny.
Finally, a question: do you guys think Lemaire will be coach of the year? If not, who? Boucher? Vigneault? Someone without Montreal connection?
Odds are Muller going to NJ? With a healthy Parise… they are going to be a handful.
I’m ok with playing Boston. So much of the mental part of hockey is in your head. If we can get it going early… they’re going to hear little footsteps (literally)… basically just what Timo said: skate hard for 60 min, stay out of the box, find the power play.
My playoff hero picks: PK, Price, Darche and Desharnais. I think Pleks is great, but he’s exhausted. Cammi please wake up. Gomez? As the Physician’s motto goes: first do no harm. No stupid penalties, no passes to no where. Do your pretty little skate in the neutral zone, put it in deep, go to the bench and check your bank balance on your Blackberry ™.
Amen. Go Habs.
In all fairness, Cammy and Gomez both finished their seasons playing some good hockey. That being said, they do have to take their game to another level.
Now, to address your points:
1) We have plenty of guys like that, but obviously it does no good when those guys are guys like Gionta who doesn’t block the goalie’s vision at all, and Darche, who seems to have a hell of a time batting rebounds.
2) I found it a bit odd on either side. I don’t think a week’s break, with practices is such a bad thing. I mean, I play hockey with my buddies once a week or so and I don’t get rusty. On the other hand, they were playing a team who gave up on hockey, so I doubt hurting people was their first thought.
3) Despite what anyone says about JM’s shortcomings, I’d take him any day over Wilson.
Dan Bylsma wins the Jack Adams for keeping the Penguins afloat missing their franchise forwards, it’s not even close IMO what he grinded out with nobodies.
People with 600 coaching wins tend to know what they’re doing. We can call him a terrible coach and out of touch all we want but really, you want to talk out of touch, look at Barry Melrose’s go-round at the TBL bench. Look what happened with bad coaching with NJD in 1st half of the season, the putrid PP in LA and the mess they’ve had in Minnesota, before and after Lemaire who CHOKED OUT OFFENCE on that team and pushed them into a season where they tied 20 games!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
1) Awesome job LA! Only you could spend all season crying about Montreal’s coaching, lack of “male” hockey players, lack of ability to comeback, joke about intangibles; yet now you somehow praise a team that blew a lead against a non-playoff team in a win and get in or lose and go home game. Dallas had 11 shots in a do or die 3rd period, something tells me you’d rip that effort apart had Montreal been Dallas last night.
2) Boston played back-to-backs, Sat and Sun with both games being afternoon games. Guess who started Saturday? Thomas. Just like Price, Thomas started one of the last two games of his team’s season.
I’m expecting Moen to be in front of the net at all times and Ryan White they both gotta work through it even if it Chara get Chara occupied. Kostitsyn, Pleks and Cammy can work around passing everywhere and getting the Defence out of place.
Habsnation is still standing.

Why do you say no Matinee for first round? Looks like we are on Versus for the first 2 in Beantown and games, 4-5. Sorry I am in Cali, thats means I finally get to watch them!!
where are you? I’m in LA. Probably will see most games at Kings practice rink in El Segudo (south of LA).
Santa Maria, 45mi north of Santa Barbara. I get all the Kings, Sharks and Ducks games but rarely a Habs game, Hope it is at least on Vs.
I’m in LA as well…haven’t been able to find any Habs hangouts, know of any?
Got seats for the Kings playoffs but you bet I’ll be late if any of ours go to OT
Nah not sure of any hangouts. I went to Habs and Kings last March and there was quite a party at the Bars in UCLA afterwords but nothing like we would hope for. Let me know if you find any, I will travel 2 1/2 hrs to party with fellow Habbys!!
When I lived in Berkely for a playoff run a couple years ago, I did find a bar in Berkely taht showed the Habs game. Best fries in duck fat I ever had too.
Redendo Beach Café on the P.C.H. They have giant HD TV’s and have all Habs games as a priority. They even serve smoked meat sandwiches and poutine. This is by far the best Habs hangout in California period.
I don’t understand why a 2 day break between some of the games and yet you have a B/B for game’s 6 and 7. Simply asinine!!
it’s because of concerts and/or other events scheduled at bell centre and td garden.
they have to work around that.
complain all you want, the dont cancel concerts for playoff games.
I thought that too, but the only concert going on in Montreal is Kylie Monogue on the 28th, and nothing in Boston.
Rush is at the BC on the weds. that’s why.
- A
Odd that this is the only series to have B/B games. With so much ridding for both teams, to force them to play on con-
secutive night’s is ridiculous.
Doesn’t matter, Habs won’t need seven games.
AMAZING!! I have tickets for game 3 and it’s right after my last exam! Now I won’t be able to sleep tonight…or until game 3 for that matter.
I know I actually got some reds for game 3, and I don’t know if I will sleep between now and then. So exciting!
Ah the playoff season. The season where i get no sleep due to watching west coast games go into double overtime.
So if I’ve read this and all other schedule’s correctly, the only games in all of the First Round of the Playoffs that would be back-to-back would the the Habs vs Bruins Games 6 and 7. Way to go NHL!! Not only should there never be a back-to-backer in the Playoffs, but you wanna make a Habs vs Bruins Game 7 one?? Idiots.
I guess The CBC will have their full staff of ex-Bruins to work this series – Cherry-Galley-Stock-Milbury missing anyone ?
Dreading have to watch game 1 and 2 on cbc cause i will be in kanata for a hockey tournament and my brother doesn’t have RDS.
I could watch CBC or NESN. NESN is usually much less anti-Canadien biased.
Watching on NESN is absolutely brutal. Most Bruins fans will agree, Jack Edwards seems like he’s high on coke and not watching the same game as everyone else. Brickley is actually pretty fair to the opposition even the habs. He’s constantly correcting Edwards, though, can’t blame him, I’m sure Brickley didn’t hire him.
Born and Bred in Enemy Territory (Boston).
I like Jack Edwards. Funny dude.
Hes not a bruin, but Kelly Hrudey might as well be put into that category, we all know who was in net for the Kings in 1993.
Don’t you think Kelly Hrudey is pretty good? Better than Milbury, g*d.
Hrudey has been a very good analyst since Patrick Roy retired. He hated Roy and it showed whenever he was covering Colorado, he was very very unprofessional. He’s much better now.
LOL … full coverage on CBC, well they don’t have many Canadian teams to choose from in the East.
Or the West.

Welcome to the newer NHL: The National Head-shots League.
My last exam of the term: April 21st, 7pm. FFFFFUU-
My final exam is Saturday. Hope I’m home in time to watch the game.
My last exam’s on the 26 and I know I’m going to be there the full 3 hours (7-10). I doubt foresee the Habs (and definitely not the Bruins) sweeping, so that’s slightly better. Not much though ; )
Tell your professor you have tickets with your Dad, and ask to take it early. Profs understand such things, I used to be one.
Last exam April 27th
End it before then boys!
