Many great performances tonight, esp Cole and MaxPac but I wanna applaud the newbies Nokalainen and Blunden, they really brought size and and some thump, imagine them with Whitey on the wing. Best fourth line in the league? One of them maybe…
———————————————————-
Time to call a guy named Lou in NJ and ask for permission…bring Larry Robinson home.
So it being a GREAT night, only question was what happened re Perry Pearn? What was that all about? I purposely havent read any analysis yet, I wanted to put my own hafl-baked theories out there.
Remarks by some posters set me to thinking. Ian noted how the two Randies were changing lines etc. And another poster observed Randy Ladoceur talking to P.K during the game. And Perry Pearn had been in charge of the spcial teams .. and also defense wasnt he?
Well I think this was alll one behind the scenes, but big time, power play gone awry.
In my opinion JM did not seem to keen on replacing Muller. I found that the lateness of the appointments of the Hamilton guys rather strange. I know they were PLAN B but even then it seemed that replacing Muller was like ‘pulling teeth’ for the organization.
So here is my theory. Perry Pearn, being JM’s long time buddy etc wanted to be the kingpin (or kingmaker) behind the bench, knowing that he had JM’s approval. Am I wrong or were the two Randys very ‘silent’ assistant coaches until tonight. It was Perry’s show.
So PG probably talked to some players and to the two Randys and maybe even to JM. Say guys.. tell me what’s really happening here. I mean your defense stinks and your special teams are worse.
Bottom line PG found out that Perry Pearn was doing the ‘power move’ and crowding out the two Randys and had too muuch influence on JM.
So bye bye Perry! Maybe even causing a little ‘tear’ in the JM-PG relationship. Then PG tells JM (in a nice way) that he needs to involve and listen more to the two Randys.
And PRESTO we have a real ‘coaching team’.
This may sound convoluted. But I believe Ian Cobb… look for the two Randys to be more ‘hands on’.
So hold off the firing. JM will be the figure-head coach for maybe his entire tenure. But the two Randys will be greater than lackeyes and will be called upon to contribute more and JM will have to heed their counsel… or else.
So there’s my theory. Perry knew he had JM’s friendship, saw his chance when Muller left, and became ‘drunk’ with power and crowded out the Randys. But it didnt work and PG had to step in…even hinting to JM that he had no choice NOW.
Only way I can explain the firing of Perry Pearn just outta the blue. And the apparent extra involvement by the Randys in tonight’s game. I think PG may have actually found a solution and this may indeed be the start of something BIG… including, as Ian put it, the subtle replacement of JM if not in actuality… definitely virtually so.
This may NOW be the Randys’ team… and from where I sit… that is a good thing.
GO HABS GO! The 2011-2012 season started TONIGHT… and dont worry … it aint too late.
Oh one more thing….. Two Randys one less GOMEZ makes… Expect to see a lesser role for Gomez on the team if my Randy theory is correct.
Guess I should go to bed before I regale you with my JFK theory.
Man, it’s crazy how essentially the same game as some other nights, with different bounces and outcomes can have such different reactions. I guess good to have a win to settle people down
Well done. Nice win tonight. Showed a lot of heart. Strange things happen when Habs v. Broons get together. The night Komaserik got pounded by Lucic Bruins didnt arrive home until 3 am and Habs were waiting for them only to lose 6-1. On the flip side I have seen the Habs blank Boston 6-0 and rout them 8-1 on nights no one expected anything. Boston sports Radio is still hung up on the dive team label but I think Habs can beat them with a nice effort like tonight. Final score Montreal 4 Boston 1. (same score Red Sox won game 4 of 2004 World series 7 Years ago to the day.) This game will not erase the pain of Game 7 six months ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zJkkZewH1w

I’ve got nothing against Pearn being axed. But why is Gill still run out there? He can’t keep up with anybody and he’s caught out of position more and more every game. 1000 games was enough.
My great uncle Seamus Anderson once said to me on his deathbed: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.. but if it sputters and stinks and runs like crap ya may as well replace it”
As promised, I wore my jersey for the second time this year – had it on for the only two wins. The obvious solution to the team’s woes is to fire ALL the staff, and just pay me a 12-pack/game to wear the colours.
We had 40 minutes of great hockey, thanks to Cunnyworth and Ladoceur changing the lines and the playing attitude. The two of them will take over this team in short order.
I think we should soak Jacques Martin’s breakfast oats in spoiled milk… that way Cunneyworth and Ladouceur will have the chance of a lifetime to prove they can do it without him!
Enjoyed the game even though we were lucky. Doesn’t happen often but fun to see, especially again Philly. I seriously doubt this team is going to win much with Dumbo and his ex-Senators coaching staff but like someone said, least I wont go to bed with indigestion again.
So nice to go to bed without indigestion. Survived a shaky first and then stopped squeezing the stick. Price stopped a break-away..good to see. But one question…..what is wrong with Gionta. Two years ago he was just like Marty St. Louis…speedy and tenacious. Now..not so much. Is he hurt? And I still want J.M. and P.G. gone, gone, gone.
Thanks HH I didn’t get to watch the game tonight had to work. maybe I should quit watching and they’ll go on a winning streak. I’ll start tomorrow night against Boston. I’ll watch the Ball game instead…
PJ Stock just had a lot of body language after watching the Chara on Pacioretty hit. Very weird body language. Kind of like he was getting tingles all up and down his spine whereas you would expect shivers.

The funny thing is the Habs have been in the exact same situation in 6 of the 8 previous games, but you never see that excuse being made for them around here.
RC, the Habs have outplayed the opposing team 6 games out of the previous 8 before tonight, and the argument Hobie was making about “goalpost here, goalpost there” and the game is different applies 100% to those games in the Habs favour as well. Unfortunately Hobie is so troubled by someone disagreeing with him that he has to prattle on inanely with insults and sarcasm instead of addressing arguments.
I honestly do feel sorry for you. You can lol all you’d like but you’re still dumber than a sack of hammers. Writing about hockey doesn’t make you an expert on anything, but unlike you I’m actually pretty respected. You see, when you actually write well, and support the points you make, people enjoy reading what your write. That would be why every article I write generates thousands of hits. It’s quite apparent that you’re jealous of this because I never mention it, but you always bring it up.
Sorry no one gives a shit what you write, Hobie, and that you have to rely on insults and trolling to get responses out of people who in large part think you’re an idiot. Must be a sad sack existence to be so desperate for attention that you’d rather people think you’re stupid than irrelevant.
Just because the habs out shot the opponent doesn’t mean they outplayed them too. Their shots were weak-ass and to the chest shots, and they couldn’t maintain offensive pressure.
1000 hits? Stop the presses! Anyone could get 1000 hits writing raw raw Canadiens. Christ look how well eklund does, and he just blindly throws shit around.
Someone stated earlier that this team has no character…Look no further than big #67…It’s about friggin’ time this team had a pulse, but 1 win isn’t good enough..Let’s see if we can win the next 2 against the Bruins..
Yes, and he HAS to stay on the third line. This is where he provides the most quality. Just like Darche HAS to stay on the 4th. JM was probably sh!tting his pants all game today and perhaps was having a feeling that his job is not as secure as he thought. So may have made some moves that made sense out of sheer fear. Whatever works I say, but still can’t wait for his ass and his puppet master Gauthier to get canned.
I posted about Moen yesterday. The guy can play in any situation he is put in. Sure he could use some more skill, but come on for 1.5 per…looking like a steal this year.
Eller is playing fantastic hockey.
Pacioretty…what do you say about this kid? I say Captain material. Unreal game by a player who “might” have been out for a while, according to the media.
See how tight-lipped this organization is, Expect the Unexpected.
1) headline:
Habes ground Flyers to end six-game skid
Habes??? WTF, Какого хуя, блядь???
2) in the article:
“…Montreal’s smaller, skilled forwards penetrated deep into the Flyers end again and again.”
WTF? Small forwards? Moen, Kostitsyn, Pacioretty, Cole?
3) SuperHit of the article:
“It may be a coincidence, but Thursday was the first game in which Price returned to his regular equipment and mask”
Sorry, but since when NHL office is in Europe? they already have Thursday.
4) another remarcable hit:
“Never one to be superstitious, Price decided enough was enough and switched back to his regular equipment for the Flyers game.”
Actually Price is well known as a very superstitious goallie
“Какого хуя, блядь???” – the closest I could come up with is “WTF, b!tch” but it still doesn’t carry all richness of the colorful and ever so expressive “Какого хуя, блядь???”. Classic.
“Actually Price is well known as a very superstitious goallie [sic]”
No, he isn’t. He’s known specifically for not being superstitious in a very superstitious position. And for criticizing grammar and spelling, you’ve got a ton of mistakes in this comment.
Grammatical errors? Did the colons throw you off? He is pointing out how bad some sites post BS that anyone could write who has access to the interweb.
Why did Price change gear then? I thought he was supposed to wear it for the MONTH of October. Last time I checked, there are still some games left in October.
Not that I really care what he wears, but that was not the point of the post.
Price was told to change his gear. Seriously RC, look it up. Price is known for not being superstitious. That and him being a calm, go with the flow goalie were his defining personality characteristics coming into the NHL.
There’s no ad hominem in that comment. Please point out whatever fictitious one you can find. All I did was point out that it was hypocritical to point out the spelling errors of others while spelling a bunch of words wrong yourself. Maybe more ironic than hypocritical. I was unaware that the OP’s first language isn’t English.
Price was solid. We capitalized on our opps when we got them…
This core of guys has talent…mixed with the rights drafts, right FA’s, right trades, we could be deadly in a few yrs..with the right coaching of course. No need to panic. in the meantime, it wouldnt hurt us all to see the habs finish last once or twice? A true superstar added into our mix would ignite this team…
So I guess Martin listened to that reporter he insulted and played Cole on the power play. Funny how Stubbs & Co. would never ask a question that would possibly put them on the coaches bad list. Hmmm…
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.

A goalpost here or a goalpost there and the Canadiens are down 3-1 after the 1st.
Just like one of the goofball commentators stated on TSN; “The game of hockey can be a funny game sometimes.”
Did Gauthier just pull one out of his ass and shake the team up by delivering enough of a wake-up-call in the firebombing of an assistance coach?

Can Montreal makeup three points in the standings with 73 games left in the season?

and also, I’m Russian, however I try to write in English.
I bet you cannot write a single two-words phrase in Russian, Andrew
You are correct. I can’t write a single word in Russian.

Ad Hominem much? You of all people should know what that is Andrew

So shit all over someone first and ask questions later.
That Giroux is turning into a little bugger as he has a good role model in Briere…..
Gotta give props to Moen. He’s looked much closer to the Travis Moen that helped kill Sens in the Cup Final a couple of years back.
Love the Flyers without Pronger! They are like a declawed, toothless tiger without the big 30 min cheapshot fest Prongs gives them night in night out.
There’s something to be said for a big lug that gets away with murder on the blue line. Wish we had one of those…
Gomez for Myers? no? uh… what if we throw in Pulashij?

Price was solid. We capitalized on our opps when we got them…
This core of guys has talent…mixed with the rights drafts, right FA’s, right trades, we could be deadly in a few yrs..with the right coaching of course. No need to panic. in the meantime, it wouldnt hurt us all to see the habs finish last once or twice? A true superstar added into our mix would ignite this team…
Last? Last? not this year!

So I guess Martin listened to that reporter he insulted and played Cole on the power play. Funny how Stubbs & Co. would never ask a question that would possibly put them on the coaches bad list. Hmmm…
Cole had PP time before and after that.
Man was Cole good tonight!
