Jacques Martin struck a cautionary note on the Senators:

“They’ve shown they can score,” Martin said of Ottawa’s good start. “They are young and enthusiastic.”

The Canadiens would do well to avoid penalties, the coach said, because the PP is an Ottawa strength this season. The Senators also benefit from a John MacLean system that has one offensive defenceman – Erik Karlsson, David Rundblad, Sergei Gonchar – in each pairing.
