Jacques Martin audio.
Video of Carey Price, Brian Gionta, Josh Gorges, Erik Cole and Tomas Plekanec
A subdued Jacques Martin credited a total team effort in protecting Carey Price and ensuring the goaltender would record his second straight Bell Centre shutout.

So looking at the stats, it seems like the difference between 1st and 11th in the Eastern Confrerence is now only 4 points. That is incredible. That means the Habs are only 4 points out of 1st in the Eastern Conference Presidents championship. Should we still be tanking?

What a game, the habs dominated the rangers! Imagine this team with kostitsyn, markov and the rest of our d! As for Gomez his game is pretty simple he passes the puck and he needs a shooter like Gionta to play with. Why Martin thought it was a good idea to play him with Eller and Moen is beyond me. Eller loves to pass the puck and although Moen has 6 goals he isn’t much of a sniper! Gomez has been solid since his return and if you give him 2 solid shooting wingers he will create offense plain and simple. He’ll never be a 30 goal scorer but for me a play maker is just as good as a goal scorer. This team has looked scary good and they are missing a guy who a couple of years ago was the MVP of our team. Cole is easily one of the best free agent signings in the NHL this summer and Pacioretty is just amazing. Pleks is on another level right now, one of my favorite all time players.
you’re right … when Pacs went down last year, Gomes was centeimg the most effective line on the team .. and yes, he had two good shooting wingers

Cole is a beast, the real beast in him got unleashed on the Habs, a legit contender, he looks like he’s enjoying his time so far on the team. Just good to see, that’s all.
It is great to see. The thing that is not good to see is JM’s shadow behind Cole. Imagine getting rid of Gomer, Gionta and Cammilleri for another Cole and a decent coach?
Hawks are getting destroyed, 9 – 2
Someone answer me, is that Jessica next to Cole? I would like to send her some flowers.
Yes, that is the one and only Jessica Rusnak – a hard-working, first-rate reporter who is also a really nice young woman.

Sounds like someone is being a little defensive….
I gotta give PG credit… Cole was a good acquisition.
I must be really drunk. Timo is actually giving credit to PG. Better have another double and come back and look at this page again.
Mr. Biter
Have a triple
Good Idea. Thanks.
Mr. Biter
Watched the game on MSG network and the wailing and crying about 6 ranger penalties (none deserved by the Ranger broadcast crew BTW). Bad memory about our last trip to MSG were we had the 1st 8 penalties (watched that game too and according to the broadcasters that night they were all deserved. They almost make me miss the HNIC broadcast.
BTW St. Denis is going to make life difficult for JM as he is playing really well for his 3rd game in the NHL. I like him a lot. Solid d-man.
Mr. Biter
Well, I guess Rangers are not that tough when Tim Peel is not calling the game, eh? Good refs means Habs have a flying chance once in a while.
Good overall win but Rags barely provided a serious push. PP is still terrible. Still can’t understand Pleks on the point (yes, he scored, shut it), Weber can’t get a shot off his stick, lots of aimless movement with little threat.
Gomer? Love him more and more with every passing game.
Habs score two power play goals > “PP is still terrible”
what more do you expect from our number one fan?
beleaf me when i tell you he is sincere.

This Oiler game is INSANE!!! 8-2. Wow Chicago looks terrible. Duncan Keith is -9 on the last 13 goals against. In addition in the box for one and on the PK for two more. WOW
Perhaps he started to believe his own greatness. Happened to one goalie with very pretty hair we once knew.
Cole got his third PP goal of the season, tying Darche’s career PP production. Go figure…
I guess you’ve done your research.
More than Jessica, at least.
Is that Jessica next to Cole in the interview?
To be fair to a burgeoning sports journalist, I would suspect she wouldn’t want to call out the coach like that anyway. Imagine if she had though, that would have definitely been a moment.
We look like such a stronger scoring team this year. All it took was Erik Cole, and youngsters such as Eller, DD and Pax starting to hit their stride.
This are looking good, and AK46 isn’t even back yet.
Go Habs go!
Great game!

3 points between 1st and last in the Northeast! Division games will be so crucial this year.
25 before 14
The Jets are six points out of first!
Great win, looks like the boys always shine against big teams or big games, would like ‘em to be more consistent with weaker teams. On a ‘out of left field’ observation…Is Jessica stalking Cole? She’s always behind him on video’s… she looks perturbed in this still but she sure is purdy. Bring on the bruins! Can’t wait till monday night.

Same thing last year. Play good vs. good teams then play down to weaker teams level. Not wanting to be critical on a good night, but it’s the coach’s (all 3) to get the team up for weaker teams.
Mr. Biter
Despite all the hull-a-ballo about Gomez (and yes I have added my share), injuries, lack of focus, etc, what a great team effort by all of the Habs tonite. Love how Nokky stood up for himself after a questionable hit in the third. One thing very noticeable to me with the ‘green’ blueline is the true emergeance of Gorges’ leadership.
IF all the injured dmen return to health, PG will hold some nice cards to deal IF required.
I agree with everything you said, particularly the parts about Gorges and the surplus of D.
I think Gorges is showing that he needs to be signed long-term. As for the surplus on D, it is going to be interesting to see what PG will do when everyone is back.
Here’s what we’ll have:
Gorges-Subban
Markov-Emelin
Gill-Diaz/Weber
Campoli-Spacek
Somebody’s gotta go.
Maybe it becomes:
Markov-Emelin
Campoli-Subban
Gill-Gorges
with Diaz in Hamilton, Weber or Spacek traded and whoever’s left as 7th D. Or maybe Campoli gets traded. Who knows. Bottom line, I don’t think they’ll get rid of Emelin until they see what he can do with Markov and 9 D is definitely too many.
It will be intriguing for sure.
You’re assuming there won’t be injuries to other Dmen when Markov and Campoli return…
The last 2 years has shown us that we need to carry 8 NHL calibre defensemen, because there will always be at least 1-2 injured at any given time. It’s pretty tough to come up with a top 6 if everyone was healthy… PK, Gorges, Markov, Gill are all guaranteed spots. That leaves two spots for either of Spacek, Campoli, Weber, Emelin, and Diaz.
Gorges – PK
Markov – Weber
Gill – Campoli
Extra’s: Emelin, Spacek.
Cheers to Price, gomer and the rest of the gang for a pretty workmanlike performance! C U monday recchi, you douchebag!

Yes. Dr. Recchi is a board-certified proctologist. Speaking of which, a proctologist pulls out a thermometer from his shirt pocket. He looks at it and says, “Great. Some as$hole has my pen.”
Yes he got certified pulling bricks out of Thomas’s ass.
Mr. Biter
Something’s telling me it will be a different Boston team on Monday than the one Habs beat twice in a row earlier.
Espically if as you said Peel is one of the 2 Refs. My only worry is that if we get a large lead, the Broons will as usual go head hunting and we will not be able to do anything about it. They are unfortunatly not as stupid as we all think they are and pick their spots when to or not to goon it up.
Mr. Biter
Crazy world: Oilers up 5-1 on the Hawks — still in the first.
It was 1-1, I left the room to go to the bathroom and make some food. Came back, and it was 4-1. They were showing a replay at the time, which I assumed was the 4th goal. Nope, it was the 5th.
Excellent 60 minutes guys – and you are to be congratulated.
Awsome game all around
