Some lucky Canadiens fans got an up-close look at new enforcer George Parros a lunch time Tuesday when the 6-foot-5, 228-pound giant skated for about 30 minutes on the indoor rink at the 1000 de La Gauchetiere building in downtown Montreal, near the Bell Centre.
Parros also toured the Canadiens’ Bell Centre dressing room, put on his new No. 15 Habs jersey and did a photo shoot for the Canadiens Magazine.
In other Habs news, NHL.com has included Lars Eller on its list of seven players who will be trying to avoid the ‘one-hit wonder’ tag next season.
Writes NHL.com columnist John Kreiser: “Eller’s third season with the Canadiens unquestionably was his best – he had a career-high 30 points in 46 games, up from 28 points in 79 games a season earlier. Eller faces an additional challenge while trying to prove that he can build on those numbers – he’s coming back from a concussion and a broken nose sustained in Game 1 of the Canadiens’ Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Ottawa Senators.”
The other players on the NHL.com list are Bryan Bickell of the Chicago Blackhawks, Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Viktor Fasth of the Anaheim Ducks, Thomas Hickey of the New York Islanders, Nazem Kadri of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Jiri Tlusty of the Carolina Hurricanes.
