Markov the big ?

Markov

The Hockey Writers lists 30 questions for the Eastern Conference.
The Canadiens’ entry: Andrei Markov’s health.

“Markov is an elite scorer, underrated in his own zone and the difference between being a borderline playoff team and having a cushion to work with.”

So got a hankerin for some ice cream, run across the street, make it just in time, get me the cone in question.
Now, I open it…and it’s not vanilla. It SAYS vanilla but it quite obviously is not vanilla. It is chocolate. Clearly. I’m lookin at the wrapper and it says vanilla and I’m lookin at the cone and it says “I’m chocolate”.
Now, I LIKE chocolate, don’t get me wrong but…well…with everything I said today, I’m afraid to eat it!

    Aw, hell.

  8. habpunk says:

so what are the chances Gomez is traded before the season starts?
I say 70% he’ll be traded, and I think AK will be dealt as well.
talking negative about JM is a no no and the faster way for your ticket out of Montreal.

    • Neutral says:

habpunk: that’s very possible, I just threw a line up out there someone was asking I ain’t no Jm and I wouldn’t want his job, in Montreal you’re dammed if you do and you’re dammed if you don’t as long as they make the playoffs which seems to be the thing than go from there and see what happens.

if Gomez and Kostitsyn stays around I’d give them a fair chance and try the combo’s I put together starting the season. if it doesn’t work out than I would try.

      1. Cammy, Pleks, Gionta
      2. Pacioretty, Gomez, Cole
      3. Darche, Desharnais, Kostitsyn
      4. Moen, Eller, White

  9. Neutral says:

someone ask for line ups – this is mine

    Start the season with:

    1. Cammy Gomez Gionta
    2. Cole Pleks Kostitsyn
    3. Pacioretty Desharnais Darche
    4. Moen Eller White

Gomez and Kostitsyn has to prove to JM they belong on the first and second line or be replaced. Gomez to the second, Kostitsyn to the third. Darche would be shuffled with Eller and White.

The myth of Markov will finally die this year. Fragile, soft, not a leader. Watch PK blossom even more. Like Dick Irvin said “the next Guy Lapointe.” After this year PK won’t be compared to anyone, he’ll be an all star in his own right.

…Sid is still only 24 years old …is financially secure
    …come back once healed
…I rather Sid return at less the player he was than lose him as an unparalleled talent completely
…but, trying to talk to a burning obsessive talent like a Sid Crosby to shut it down, even for a short period of time, is much easier said than done
…really hope Shero recognizes this, and tells Crosby I care more for you as a human being than I do the Penguins being less of a team without you this season

This is the same mgmt/coaching staff/medical personel that carted him back on the ice against Tbay right after Winter Classic. Yah like to think they are smarter now. I don’t know, still really wonder if teams take concussions seriously enough. I have stated before, the fact the Habs said MaxPac was cleared for playoff action if we had got past Boston had me concerned. Glad for Max’s sake he was never put in a position to be rushed back.

      • Jan_pronounced_Yan says:

I still can’t understand how we allowed to play against Tampa Bay when he was telling the media RIGHT AFTER the Winter Classic that he couldn’t remember the play.

I mean, really? Why the hell did they play him?

      • HabinBurlington says:

I have no doubt that Sid has now been in contact with the best physicians etc… but your response of the player will do what’s best is exactly the problem with players being rushed back. These guys have probably already played through concussions at Jr. level and will often say they are good to go.

    • Ian Cobb says:

Unfortunately Sid is done like dinner.
His career is over. Once you receive two concussions before the first one has voided the calcium from the brain, then the brain damage is permanent. Next one could kill him.

    • Bugs says:

We got that “scoop” earlier today.
Was just as lame then too.

      • HardHabits says:

Bugs. Nothing is lamer then having an epiphany 10 years later after watching, and it pains me to agree with AB on this one, evidence presented from one side.

I have one word. Paradox. Parallel teaching. Best to look at both sides of the debate well before you make a conclusion.

Next thing is I am obviously being sarcastic. I am mixing my conspiracy metaphors so to speak.

My position. I could care less either way and I mean that. There are so many layers behind 9/11 that I’d rather not lose any sleep over it. This crap has been going on since the dawn of man. Yes we’re more sophisticated but deep down we’re murderous bastards every one of us. Either that or we’re the victim. Some of us just like to hang outside the fray and pick the marrow from the bones of the dead.

You above all people should have known better to broach the subject here. This is a website for hockey talk. Sometimes we throw in a few recipes and mention that movie we saw or touch upon our personal lives as many of us have made friends via this site.

To even mention 9/11 is patently idiotic. You should have known better.

        • Bugs says:

Yes, I did know what was in store for me today. I may be an idiot but I’m not stupid.
And I DID look at one side of the debate for the last 10 years despite some confusion over convenience of quickly-drawn battle-plans.
But it wasn’t until a few days ago that I saw WTC 7. And the epiphany didn’t come from the sole evidence that could explain its fall but rather that that evidence had been deliberately withheld from me by the mainstream media.
It is THAT epiphany which led me to educate myself on this issue.
Because yes, while some of us are perhaps murderous at the core, on the surface, most of us stand for truth and justice.

Gone figuratively fishin filibusts L. B. Potter, esq.

  29. kungpowchicken says:

    Kungpow says:

Markov will surprise all this year and will be invited to the All Star Game. U heard it first from Kungpow himself. Tell your friends.

  30. Bugs. If you want to know why so many people were dismissive of you all day today and some got extremely rude and vitriolic, it’s because you’re saying within 24 hours of “discovering” this so called evidence you’ve become convinced that it’s sound. 24 hours is not enough time to examine something as complicated as 9/11.

There’s also the issue that you stated that you had suspicions that the story was off from the beginning, so you’re saying you have confirmation bias.

What you’ve done is gobble up a bunch of cherry picked evidence that is intentionally misleading. Building 7 for example. On all conspiracy videos they show angles where the building falls at so-called free-fall speed. Some even go so far as to make crude calculations. Yet then never show the initial collapse, and they never show the full video either.

Then. After watching that movie ask yourself this. If all that they talk about in the 3rd part is true why would it be allowed online?

When I look at the limits of our planet, the size of which is rendered almost insignificant when measured up against the rest of the Universe (or Multiverse), it is more of a wonder that mankind, dirty little creature that he is, is managing to survive.

The market system economy is a sham. You can’t have eternal growth. The planet’s life cycle doesn’t start a new accounting book every year.

So armed with your conspiracy theory belief that you assume is now knowledge, what are you going to do?

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt however and remark that 10 years ago, the global village as a MEDIA itself wasn’t as concerted as it is today.
Now, anyone with a computer can “report the news” as it were, and NO ONE can stop them.

Post ONE video from ANYWHERE showing building 7 taking longer than the 7 second collapse. This isn’t even in dispute. But you won’t get a mention of it in the official 9/11 (C)ommission Report. Apparently, it wasn’t worth reporting, or didn’t want to shed the light on that smoking gun.

I’d actually like to see the article on where an ATC said that a 757 couldn’t do a 270 degree turn the way it supposedly did.

An airliner is so overbuilt that you’d be shocked at how many g’s can be pulled in one, even fully loaded with fuel, passengers, and cargo. An ATC would have no idea about how tight a 757 turn radius could in fact be, unless he’s a pilot, and was trained in the aircraft. The controller would never see a tight turn in a normal day to day operation of an aircraft like that, because its very uncomfortable for a passenger.

      • Bugs says:

Hani Hansour couldn’t fly a Cessna the month before, remember. Yet, taking the controls of an ultra-sophisticated aircraft, he managed to perform a maneuver expert pilots would be hard-pressed to do and closed in 6ft off the ground, despite same experts saying it is impossible for a commercial plane to fly steadily at such low altitude.
And of course, instead of plowing dead-center into the Pentagon, he does a 270 degree turn-around to bash it into the most fortified section where lo and behold! all the records concerning the disappearance of 2.3 trillion dollars (admitted the day before by Rumsfeld) was stored.

            Ohhh, ok.
Secondly, your data is totally flawed. Steel loses half its strength at 650 degrees C, yes.
It does not collapse however. If it did, you could provide ONE other occurrence throughout the course of human history that did NOT occur on that same day. But you can’t. Cuz it’s never happened.
2005. Madrid. Windsor Tower. 19hr inferno. Much hotter fire, much bigger, burned longer. Steel did not even MOVE.
And this is beside the fact that even if it DID cause WTC 7 to fall, it would not collapse uniformally and fall without meeting any buckling resistance underneath, indeed, at the speed of gravity, right into its own footprint.
I’m sorry; you know I like you, Berkie, but to believe otherwise is just…

            @EL1
What you are forgetting is that a structure steel frame of that building skyscraper was supporting about 100 tons of concrete. Even with your assertion all that concrete would come crashing down. Read this http://sydney.edu.au/engineering/civil/wtc.shtml

          • GrimJim says:

            @Bugs
First of all, you said it was technically impossible to make cell phone calls in-flight. I proved that wrong. Now you make up a straw man of getting up and going to the bathroom to make the call. Try again. There were only three hijackers on the flight, one flying the plane. Next time your on a plane, wait until the attendants are at the other end of the cabin serving food, hold your cell phone in your lap, pretend to dial, duck your head under the top of the seat in front of you (which isn’t hard because the seat all reach above head height) stay there for 20 seconds and when you sit up straight again, see if the attendant noticed you. I’ll buy your beers all Summit weekend if they did (and you can prove it).
Second, read this http://www.debunking911.com/firsttime.htm. The World Trade Centre was a UNIQUELY DESIGNED BUILDING using tube-in-tube technology to provide support at the curtain wall in addition to the central core. Second the Windsor Tower didn’t suffer an explosion, an explosion that most likely BLEW THE FIRE-RETARDING INSULATION OFF THE STRUCTURAL STEEL.
Third, only one tower fell straight down. The second tower and Building 7 were leaning prior to collapse. Read this interview with Fire Caption Chris Boyle http://www.webcitation.org/5IuRwM61d where he talks about building 7

          • Everlasting1 says:

GJ, that doesn’t explain an impossible freefall collapse with no structural integrity and resistance. At worse, the top portion above the impact should have spilt over the remaining building.
The original architect, Leslie Robertson designed the Towers to withstand the impact of the largest commercial airplanes at the time – Boeing707s. Like sticking a pencil thru a mesh screen door. That was the design.

Wireless transmissions from air to surface weren’t strong enough at the time. Look it up. United Airlines took out an AD in 2004 saying that wireless air to ground cellphone communication would be available “in the future”. Look it up.
Did you know the Commission changed its story in that regard? That it went from NINE confirmed cell-phone calls from the passengers down to TWO? Because airphones worked under 10 000 feet at the time, they say.
Are we to then believe that all 38 calls (or whatever) came between 10 000 and zero ft as the plane came in for grounding?
            You “proved” that wrong…
            Heh!
Ok, man, let’s just leave it at: fire melts steel and planes disappear straight-down into quicksand and into 10 by 16ft holes, and the laws of gravity don’t apply in NY, I’m good with that for now.
