Only one semi-final series goes the limit.
And it should be a great Saturday night in New York City.
A late goal by Marian Gaborik made it interesting, but this was the Caps night.
Braden Holtby made 30 saves.
Alexander Ovechkin and Jason Chimera scorfed.
Washington blocked 24 shots to six by the Rangers.
Faceoffs were 38-27.
The game had 70 hits.
At the risk of repeating myself, it’s going to be a beauty at Madison Square Garden.
Dale Hunter was able to roll four lines and got great hockey from his pluggers, notably Matt Hendricks … who had more ToI than Ovechkin, who had five hits, three shots and three blocked shots.
Brad Richards was 11-17 on draws.
The Caps’ PK killed five minors, including a four-minute high-sticking call on Jeff Halpern.

Price a franchise player??? We’ll end up getting Halak back. Price hasn’t proven anything except he’s good for a bad goal on most nites.
In reading through tonights thread I am lead to believe Semin was all over the ice and Bertrand Raymond was not happy as a result.
Glad t see Caps have forced game 7.
He’s taking his Dorion Suit to the cleaners this very morning.

Price is an oyster. Unfortunately not all oysters produce pearls.
Price playoff stats 2.84 ave and .90 save %…reg season 2.56 ave and 91% save %….only 24…..huge contract would have to be based on future performance potential…
Yet, it’s not good enough.

If the Playoffs proves anything, you need goaltending to win. Price will be paid very well.

Reality is price has not proven he can win in the playoffs…now we can say he has not had a good team in front of him but we dont know if he can win in the nhl with a good team…we can hope as he is 24 and can play many games but still has to prove he can win clutch games in the nhl….
In fact Price’s playoff performance sucks! The year Halak took us to the playoffs, Price killed them. Then the year the stupid habs bell centre ownership committee rebuilt around Price we sucked even more! Price has never won anything worthwhile since he was with the dogs. I say trade Price if you can, clearly the habs can’t go anywhere but up. Wasting cap space on Price is not worth the risk. Give Bergevin some breathing room you Toronto Coors owners! Come clean! Let the GM of Montreal pick his own coach! Let the GM trade his own, sign his own, let hockey be hockey in Montreal again!
…connecting the marketing of hot dogs with Alexander Semin may be a stretch …but as We/Some have already stooped to a certain level earlier in this thread, I will feed the beast

A bunch of random people posting on a random Hab site aren’t going to influence the $$$$ amount of Price’s next contract.
We’ll have to just wait and see, then some of us will cry.
Luongo, DiPietro, Bryzgalov, Huet … Need I say more?
Oops! Forgot Gomez.

Price is an oyster. Unfortunately not all oysters produce pearls.
Price is over rated. Price buckles under pressure. Price shows he can’t win! Even Cammy said so, well not about Price, but read between the lines. Enough prima donna’s in Montreal!

Don’t remember seeing a big Semin shot. I did see somebody push Semin hard into Lundqvist at the end
omg I lol’d so hard at this
Some of your signatures are really annoying
Anyone see a Semin shot tonight?

the fact that Boone thinks PJ Stock is a good analyst is very telling.
I like the comments made by some of the people from Dallas concerning Bob Gainey as a new consultant for the Dallas Stars:
[a] http://www.defendingbigd.com/2012/5/9/3010597/bob-gainey-hired-as-dallas-stars-consultant
[b] http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2012/05/stars-to-hire-former-gm-bob-gainey-as-co.html
Most of them are complimentary to him. Good luck to them. But I won’t be surprised if Gainey will make some of his ‘cute moves’ the same way he did here in Montreal. He and his pal did a helluva job destroying our Habs – 9 years, WTF! One more thing, he can bring the ghost (Gauthier) with him there too.
The Stars can have him good f’ing riddance.
Right, cus BG was the destroyer of the Habs. He made good moves, made some not-so-good moves. Before that, he was a Habs legend. Don’t crap on him.
He was a great player but a shit GM so again good riddance
At least one more go at the Semin jokes!
A NJ vs Phoenix finals becoming a possibility. Bettman might be thinking about calling in the mafia right now

…Hammer one of the more underappreciated Habs …I don’t know whether, at the time, a 2 year extension made sense, but in the end, I believe, We would have made the Playoffs this year with a Roman Hamrlk

I’ll admit, I wasn’t sorry to see Hamrlik go…than Gauthier traded for Kaberle, that’s when I started to miss him.

Bring it on Home
He’s travelled to Dallas to welcome Bob Gainey.
Really happy for Roman Hamrlik and Jeff Halpern. They did yeoman service for us and deserve to have a good playoff run.
If Hamrlik wasn’t flopping all over the ice in last year’s playoffs, he could have enjoyed a good playoff run then too.
Well, we over utilized him because we had no choice — and he had no gas left in the tank when playoff time came. He didn’t complain and filled in admirably for Markov. He still would have done better this season than Weber, Diaz and Campoli.
So neat that Hunter would put Joel Ward on the ice again in the closing seconds! I’ll have more respect for him from now on
+1. I was surprised too. Just imagine what JM would have done — Ward would have had his ass stapled to the bench for the third period, assuming he played at all.
If this isn’t interference, I don’t know what is
bs, that should have been waived at least

I’ll take Washington in Game 7.
Ovechkin tweets playing with Semin is a Blast
Player – Cap hit
Holtby – $637,777
Quick – $1,200,000
Smith – $2,000,000
Brodeur – $5,200,000
Lundqvist – $6,875,000
Elliot – $600,000
Halak – $3,750,000
Bryzgalov – $5,667,000
Rinne – $7,000,000
Price – $5,000,000 or less
Discuss!
…I gotta say, for a lot of illogical reasons, that Price will unlikely sign for less than between 5.75 and 7 million bananas Dave …over 4 to six seasons

That sounds about right.
And say what you will about the remaining teams playing,
but Holtby truly is a feel-good story.
Problem is, say Washington makes it to the finals, does well, ultimately loses, Holtby gets a huge raise, then becomes average. It’s happened many times before.

I wouldn’t want to see the Habs acquire a Bryzgalov or Rinne type contract. 5 million. 6 years. An arbitrator would probably give him less. If a team offers Price 7 million or more, take the picks. It’s nothing personal and just business. I like Price. Not for 7 million though. I’d prefer Halak at 3.75 even if it would be as a 45 regular season game player. 5 million max.
I hope Bergevin doesn’t flake out on us.
…agreed, if Bergevin, I would not go the Bryzgalov route with Carey …no matter how much I like Him as a Hab
…but, because of today’s market, the bananas total will be closer to 6 than 5

Price will be overpaid anyway according to some.
It’s the nature of the beast, Price is a huge investment in time and money for the team to just let him go. Plus, he’s not really in a position to demand boatloads of cash to begin with.
That being said, 5 mil/ year, whatever length of contract is a pretty good deal if you think about it.

He’s worth every penny. Price is our franchise player time to lock him up long term. 5-6 mil max. Someone puts in an offer sheet take the picks and draft Subban’s brother
Price has absolutely no argument to want more than 5M … If any other team is stupid enough to put in an offer sheet more than that then thank them and let them deal with their new problem.
Interesting. So, players on ELC’s and those who have sucked their whole careers until now get paid less than players that have been FA’s and have been good to great in their careers. Ground breaking stuff.
Somebody suggested 6 years 45 million earlier which equals 7.5 per year. No. Frickin’. Way.
I suggested 6 million at the time as I was preoccupied. Now that I have crunched some numbers I have downgraded that figure to 5 million per.
Eh, it’s the internet and HIO. I’ve read people on here suggesting trading the #3 pick for Jordan Staal. Crazy things are written here on all time. Why would anyone think that Price with 2 (or is it 3?) years of RFA left would get the highest AAV contract for a goalie in the league? It’s all crazy talk. Logic dictates that Price gets $4.5M to $6M depending on the length of the contract.
Did he just say Beagle is out for Semin?
RDS is reporting Larry Robinson’s Agent is saying that Larry will listen if the Habs would call.
…don’t tease Me HFM …so cruel
