WiFi woes at Rexall: Boone will return…

Rexall

Back home in sunny, warm Montreal, fans will be brewing big pots of black coffee for a game that begins at 9:30 p.m. local time.
There will be bleary-eyed hockey fans at work Friday morning.
But less sleep is a small price to pay for a hockey epic:
The Battle for 28th Place.

An Edmonton win draws them even with the Canadiens at 60 points.

The Oilers have played one fewer game, however, so aW moves them up one spot in the overall league standings … all the way to the dizzying heights of 28th.

Columbus has a lock on 30th, so this game amounts to jockeying for draft lottery position.

Scott Gomez and Aaron Palushaj return from eye injuries, and armchair general managers – yes, there are a few in Montreal – will be asking why Louis Leblanc is in Hamilton to make way for Gomez and Palushaj.

Mathematically we could still catch the Rangers, who are currently in first place. :)

Credit where it is due. Kaberle, Bourque, Gomez, Eller all factors tonight. And all plucked away from other teams by our GMs.

Well its funny cause after the Leafs played in Edmonton, all the leaf radio stations were going on how loud leaf fans were and it was like a huge topic on the sports radio. I watched that game and i think habs fans are louder….. Especially with the Ole’s now

keep bashing Kaberle, but he has 4 points in 4 games and since he came on board our PP has gotten considerely better.
with better defense partners he will help us a lot.

    • Stev.R says:

If we had a legit shut down dman or two, then Kaberle wouldn’t be needed to play so much in our own end. All our dmen are offensive dmen except Emelin and Gorges.

      • chanchilla says:

yeah i dont think he’s that bad either, god damn atrocious in our own end, but he puts up points and thats what he was brought in to do.

        • Stev.R says:

With the return of Markov, a year of development to our young guys, and signing a depth dman, he could be insulated enough to limit the gaffs in our own end.

I’ve never seen two teams eff up so many chances from in close.

In 2007 Toronto traded for Toskala. They gave up a first and a second and a fourth round pick. The first round pick turned out to be Lars Eller, and the Second turned out to be Aaron Palushaj.

And here I was convinced that Kaberle was in tank mode.

Should we go upstairs for a review. The puck was last seen lodged up against the post.

I dont think it really matters if Oilers pick in front of the habs or not this year, i dont see them picking a forward. Habs dont need D, oilers do and will most likely pick Murray. After Yakupov, we should be able to get whoever we want.

that goal has to be the most brutal reversal I’ve ever seen

“take your time and hurry up”

    • Chuck says:

To reverse the call on the ice, they’re supposed to need video proof that the puck didn’t cross the goal line. While there’s the shot form the net-cam that shows the puck sitting on the line, the camera moves and the puck goes out of frame; it might have gone in the net at that point, so the call on the ice should have stood due to lack of definitive proof.

I know, but I also feel sorry for the guy. I dont know how he compares to JM, I like cunney’s player management better, but JM seemed to know what to do with his horses better. So with better players and a better core, I think Cunney makes the better coach.
