Lafleur plans Friday surrender to police

Guy Lafleur plans to surrender to Montreal police Friday morning, in response to an arrest warrant issued Wednesday for the Canadiens Hall of Famer.

Lafleur, 56, will be arrested for allegedly giving contradictory evidence last fall in the court case of his son, Mark Lafleur, 22, who is facing a gamut of charges including sexual assault.

After the hockey legend is arrested, it is expected he will be released immediately on a promise to appear in court at a later date, most likely at the end of February, his lawyer, Jean-Pierre Rancourt, said Wednesday.
