If you cannot get any action from the underlings then move up the foodchain.
I will guarantee that the biggest fear of any civil servant is to face controversy.
James Moore is the minister in charge of the CBC maybe he will ask questions the rest do not want to face.
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
They actually did!
The ombudsman actually forwarded emails to Masse, Anita Adams and Tim Knapp.
But the latitude taken by HNIC is a direct result of the lack of oversight.
“Shutouts are really more of a team stat” – Carey Price
I think Peter Mahovolich and Steve Shutt, too. I was just trying to think of an obvious example to clarify the point.
And as you know I am no fan of Gomez, but to be fair he’s a great quote, and actually he’s played a lot better the last couple of games. And finally (no, not a year end conversion) it’s very frustrating playing in the offensive zone and regularly setting up guys who can’t finish. And if you only have one winger who can do anything, then it’s too readable. So who knows? Maybe things will work out, not $8M worth, but better…
Anyone else miss Murray Wilson? Love to hear his dry takes on Gomer and PK.
The last time I was this happy about a hit was Kovalev on Marcy Tucker : )
There is NO doubt in my mind that NESN is THE worst hockey broadcast in the league and it starts and ends with Jack Edwards. He is just garbage. When I lived in Boston I would always turn down the tv volume so I didn’t have to hear his biased drivel. There is a serious lack of professionalism involved in their broadcasts. Its not just against the Habs either. I watched many Bruins games against other teams and its always the same.
They really are churning out the standard form replies in response to all the misdirected emails today.
Go Habs Go!
I liked to see Pac drop the gloves, and Moen needs to throw them more often (I can’t remember the last time he did)
I stopped watching CBC a while ago (and I live in Calgary so have to pay for RDS, also HD not available). I stopped largely due to Don Cherry’s pro Toronto rants, but lately CBC seems to be getting worse and worse as was apparent last night with DipS**t Milbury. He really is just a tool.
Not very helpful really, a good reply would have told you towards where your complaints should have directed. They are dodging the issue as they want nothing to do with it.
sh_t and I can’t frop him from my pool…
Actually BGL skated around begging Lucy to drop the gloves and Lucy ran like a coward. I also remember BGL pounding the snot out of Thornton a couple times. Guess you missed those games?
sent my letter to the CBC ombudsman and Masse and here is the reply:
Dear Mr. Underwood: I write to acknowledge receipt of your e-mail, which I note you also sent to David Masse. CBC’s Office of the Ombudsman was set up to help ensure that the Corporation’s policies and standards of journalism be fully observed in CBC news and current affairs programming. Sports programming is generally beyond the mandate and jurisdiction of this office. Sincerely, Kirk LaPointe CBC Ombudsman >>> Todd Underwood 17/12/10 8:43 AM >>>
Dear Sirs, I had the opportunity to catch part of the Hockey game on CBC last night and it disgusted me! Is it part of the CBC mandate to have the likes of Mike Milbury denigrate a hockey team on national television by calling them “Cockroaches” among other things? It is bad enough that we are subject to Don Cherry’s blatant racism every week, but there has to be a breaking point when common decency should prevail. The CBC is a “National” broadcaster, that is quickly becoming/has become an irrelevant “Regional” broadcaster that is Toronto centric. As usual though I expect this e-mail to fall on deaf ears, which is unfortunate. Sincerely, Todd Underwood
and he’s a whining baby who tries to steal pucks at the end of the game.
I agree with the poster above, he isnt even close to being the best defensemen in the league, far from the best player.
Seriously! Boston is a bunch of softies these days. Even Max Lapierre was giving it to big Zdeno Chara in the corners in the third last night. This is the team that blew a 3-0 series lead and than blew a 3-0 lead in the decisive game seven. Soft and Mentally fragile, definitely not the bruins of back in the day.
Milbury is the worst GM in the history of the NHL and PJ stock is a complete hack who was THAT guy who tried to get guys to fight because that was the only way he could earn his paycheck.
Theres a reason why a 35 year old PJ stock hasnt been playing for over 5 years, and a reason why mike milbury is no longer a GM. Who could care less what they have to say.
Don’t forget Guy Lapointe, a HOFer on the ice, off the ice, biggest pratical joker the Habs ever had.
– I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Dog, serious is a brain and they can sometimes be a bit literal – I think he means just because Gomez is loose off the ice it doesn’t mean he’s not focused on the ice. Larry Robinson is an example of a great practical joker who was all business on the ice. That’s all. I don’t mean to get in middle but you guys are my two favorite posters.
He finally deked. I wish he did it more on breakaways.
There’s no indication in my email that I am a Habs fan, and the email was more about the things he said that were not in the spirit of the game, and were bad influences on young minds.
I’ve watched him talk about other teams, and he’s just as annoying and unspeakably crass.
I didn’t say anything about bias. That’s not what this is about.

Are you saying paccioretty is a novelty addition? Or do you see paccioretty as a legitimate option? I cant really tell from your post.
Cammi’s penalty shot.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Actually Laraque didn’t stop anyone from getting into fights against Boston. Just ask Komi.
ROFLMAO….. A cartoon come on.
Thats a pretty good assessment. Hopefully your assessment is correct and that line keeps bringing it for the rest of the season.
You would be the first to run out and buy his jersey if he was on the Habs.
Off topic: I’m driving from Waterloo, ON to Charlottetown, PE leaving this Sunday. I wanted to stop in Montreal for the Sunday night and watch the game at Hurley’s (always hear the ads when listening to 990). That leaves a bit of a drive for day 2 though so now I am thinking I may stop in Quebec City the first night instead. Does anyone know of a good spot there to watch the game and have a few beverages?
Any input would be appreciated!
Carbo was doing the RDS broadcast, which – regardless whether or not you speak French – is far and away the better broadcast between that and the CBC.
How can Pronger be the best player in the NHL when he’s not even close to being the best D-man?
I want the habs to be hated for skill, not asshatery

How much would you be willing to pay for a Winter Classic ticket to watch the Canadiens play the Bruins?
