Kovalev wins Molson Cup in December

Canadiens right-winger Alex Kovalev has been awarded the December portion of the Molson Cup. It’s the second straight month he has won the award.

Kovalev scored four goals and added 10 assists in 14 games during the month and a plus-7 rating.

For the month, he recorded 13 Molson Cup points, edging Christopher Higgins, who had 11. Kovalev leads the overall standings with 31 points, four ahead of Cristobal Huet and Higgins.

┬áThe Russian forward will be honoured before Thursday night’s game.

    It is incredible to see how Kovalev has proven wrong to so many people. I was one of the optimist fans that believed he would rebound this year; like he said, who doesn’t have a bad season? I am really laughing at those who were bashing him hardcore last year, ridiculous…
