For the first time since 1993 – and we all remember what happened that year – the Los Angeles Kings are going to the Stanley Cup final.
What’s that you say?
They aren’t there yet?
True enough.
But the elimination of the plucky Phoenix Coyotes seems as a mere formality after L.A. took a 3-0 death-grip on their Western Conference final series.
Dwight King – a fourth-round draft choice, 109th overall, in 2007 – scored his fifth goal of the playoffs and his fourth against Phoenix to give the Kings a 2-1 win in Game 3 Thursday night at the Staples Center.
I see a lotta anger over 1st round draft McDonagh getting discarded. Kyle Chipchurra? Not so much. The way some people valued A.Kostitsyn, I think that’s hypocritical.
You just have to love papa JP Parise yappy timing concerning his son’s Zack imminent UFA status this summer.
“Zach likes Torts a lot,” J.P. said. “Zach knows how to work, he doesn’t shy away from the discipline part of it. He’d fit right in there.”
I was just on the Canadiens website reading about how Rene Bourque wants to have a bounce back year this upcoming season with the Habs. We all know Scottys already in training for next years “Bounce back”. So I have an idea, I hear Sergei Samsonov wants a chance to “Bounce back” from his short stay in Montreal, how about the Habs sign Sergei back and put him on a line with Gomer and Bourque (Samsonov-Gomez-Bourque) and call it the rubber band line, or to emphasize Gomers caphit vs. production the rubberbantits. What do you guys think?
Re Eklund and the goalie that could be traded. Pretty easy to throw junk like that out there.
Here is the one waiting to happen.
Halak has 2 years left on his contract @ $3.75M cap hit
Elliot has 2 years left on his contract @ $ 1.8M cap hit
There are no NTCs or NMCs.
Halak to Edmonton or Toronto maybe Columbus. They will not trade him to Chicago.
The other big surprise could be Ryan Miller to Chicago for local Buffalo bad boy Patrick Kane or some other combo or Miller goes to Detroit. Miller has an 8 team NTC and Sabres are tight to the cap. Miller cap hit of $6.25M too much with RFA Kaletta and Ennis to sign
There would be no other surprises unless you consider Luongo and Tim Thomas surprises, and Price is not going anywhere.
Habs will name new coach before the finals start first week of June. Hint. He did not come back from Switzerland for nothing and if you believe it’s to help his old friend in Shawinigan…
“Duhhhhh…. The Amazing Eklund sees there will be… A Trade! Yes, I see it now! A draft pick for… some players? Maybe one player. Also a goalie will move, but if I reveal his name now? He may DIE……..”
lol that would be awesome! Are there any black coaches in hockey? Be even more awesome if their family came from Guadeloupe or Martinique or somewhere close. French media wants a French speaking coach……..have fun with that one and be careful what you wish for in the future.
Have to say, not a big fan of trading for Nash, the guy is great, but he’ll cost A LOT in return, and we don’t have the expendable pieces necessary to trade for him without wiping out our team’s future.
Add that to the fact that he is 28 years old and will be past his prime soon, and his GARGANTUAN contract.
Eklund: You wont believe the goalie who i was just told is now 100% certain he will be traded at the draft. Cant say yet, but wow.
Eklund: Promised him i would keep it quiet for a few weeks, but he one the best in the game without question. And no one else is talking about him.
Not that goalie rumours really concern the Habs but its a rumour nonetheless.
Luongo?….. but then again everyone else were alking about him. But could be a useful exchange of big contracts Tampa Bay Lecavalier for Luongo.
Tim Thomas?… Boston’s Chiarelli doesnt ‘wait things out’. Check his record. If he thinks he can move you and help his club he does it. He does ‘not fall in love’ with his players. And even Thomas isnt talking about Thomas right now.
The entire Columbus goalie squad? Bet not one of you has posted about Corbeil,Hunwick, Mason,MacElHinney, Sanford or York lately. Heck even theri grandmas dont talk about them. And they may not be the best.. but they are an entire fraternity by themselves.
Price?…. Geez would you stop hacking my posts Allan Walsh!
Bryzfalov?… Laviolette still talks about him in his sleep.
Marc Andre-Fleury…. Wants to be traded to a state where it is easy to change your surname. He cant get his Andre side and his Fleury side to ‘split’ together.
Jose Theodore? … Another year another city syndrome.
Halak?….. Ok Mr Walsh… I have just about enough of your hacking.
For what’s worth of this search for a new head coach, if it boils down to Bergevin choosing Hartley as his guy for the bench, then so be it!
The french media are forcing him to say who it is, its understandable that its confidential. But, I’m starting to feel that Guy Lafleur may be spreading the news now on who’s the next coach. Its pretty obvious that his choice is the majority choice of every Habs fan.
However, the only 3 candidates for the job IMO are Roy, Hartley, and Crawford.
Boy the ref mangled that call but i love being able to listen to the conversation between the ref and the replay official. I hope that is something that carries into the NHL…

I’m sure they will lead the team* to the Cup**.
*team = Bulldogs
**Cup = Calder Cup

Pretty sure their will be season long riots if that happens. And the Habs will have to sacrifice several draft picks for obvious tanking.
Wonder what the ceiling would be on a line with that amount of bounce?

I’m thinking Miller as well, given that Eklund is actually right.
“Duhhhhh…. The Amazing Eklund sees there will be… A Trade! Yes, I see it now! A draft pick for… some players? Maybe one player. Also a goalie will move, but if I reveal his name now? He may DIE……..”
Actually you may be right! Sounds like a good candidate.
So I am bored and HIO needs some electricity. And I have to go to all these garden places to buy sod for the garden with the wife.
Who would have thought that this once Adonis like 19yr old hunk would one day be driving around a city buying dirt. Oh Well!
So I am throwing this out.
Who is the most precocious talent on the HABS right now? Right on laddy… you go to the top of the class.
P.K Subban!
The next head coach must be able to connect with P.K Subban.
French is nice but that alone wont do it. Communication skill ..nice but that again wont do it. It is time the HABS think ‘outside the box’.
The HABS need to hire a BLACK coach! Yep I said it. I know you all were thinking it but you are too darn politically correct.
The next coach of the Montreal Canadiens must be BLACK. Let the search begin.
Samuel L jackson!!! make it happen MB! Youve all seen that basketball movie, hes a motivator!

See the video above by commandant. Awesome! LOL!
Barak Obama could be looking for work in November.
Seems like a learn on the job kind of guy.

he’s a definite thanks-but-no-thanks for me.
He has one season in his career where he has scored over 70 pts.

But has he ever had as ‘elite’ a setup man as Gomez??? I think NOT.
Hattrick by that lazy russian guy Malkin against the Fins
Saw this on my Twitter feed this morning:
Eklund: You wont believe the goalie who i was just told is now 100% certain he will be traded at the draft. Cant say yet, but wow.

Eklund is full of shit. Why even take anything he has to say seriously?

Malkin ties up the game, on a line with Perezhogin.
1-0 Finland early in 1st period over Russia.

Great game.
Disappointing result for Ellis and Bournival… but we got to see some great hockey. Hopefully more to come.

I must have missed it, who was Lafleur suggesting Roy?
unless i heard it wrong it may have been hartley that lafleur was suggesting.
Ok Thanks Showey, i was bbq’ing outside when I saw the interview with Lafleur, I should have gone back on PVR. How ya doing bud?
Pretty good. Enjoying the long weekend and just taking in the russia /finland game before i go outside and do some yard work. How about you?
lol 4-3 sorry about that. Was tweating and on fb on the same time. lol
Game over, Shawinigan lose 2-0, it was a great game!
