Jaro signs

The Canadiens playoff hero is locked up for four seasons at $15 million  in St. Louis.

That’s a nice raise on the $800,000 Jaro Halak was paid last season.

Ed, do you really believe that most posters on this site spend no money on the Habs? Most posters by no jerseys or merchandise, or go to the odd game every year. As a student I still go to 4-5 games a year and I have quite a bit of merchandise. My guess is that aside from the troll and Leafs fans on this board, everyone here spends money on the Canadiens every single year.

  2. andrewberkshire says:

It’s true, HH likely has a plaque proclaiming said title above his desk.

  3. TripleX says:

Halak was NEVER in the long term plans of Montreal as long as Gainey was part of management.  Some of us said that a LONG time ago.

As far as Halak’s playoffs go.  Some of us said Halak should have started in goal in the playoffs the YEAR before, so we were not that surprised that he could steal games.

A crystal ball was not needed but rather an objective unbiased assessment of who was playing better.

Frankly Ed, your a smart poster, I often agree on some of your opinions buy I could care less about what you do about your season tickets, your choice and if you survived the Roy trade and throw in the towel because of halak being traded then I’ll have to say l, your not that big of a fan of the team…as soon as the team starts winning and especially if they surprise again this year, you’ll come crawling back and that’s a 100% guarantee, so unless your willing to burn your Habs memorabilia, stop posting here and stop watching them on tv, then I’ll take your word seriously but for now, let your emotions run high and stay with this threat of giving them money, because if you really are a fan of this team, your threats stand no ground and you’ll be back before you know it

Well if it’s what you want to do, go for it. I can always appreciate the passion behind an interest, even if I don’t completely understand why it’s interesting to a person or how it works for them.

What makes you think he ever gave up the title?

  7. ed lopaz says:

I am a fan – just like you.

Forget about RDS – I get that for free.

I have the NHL network, I pay 30$ per month to get every NHL game on TV.

    That’s not the issue here.

Fans are HIO posters, and some fans actually pay the salaries of the players.

the Habs have made their choice, and now I have made mine.

I think I have earned that right.

Does that make me less of a fan, because I will spending $0 on the Habs – just like almost every one here?

  8. andrewberkshire says:

Well my girlfriend and I are considering opening a restaurant, so I guess that tells you we have a passion for cooking and for food.

  9. TripleX says:

I should have said in my REAL life and dealing with friends and family.

In the free for all of internet forums I think even Jean might lose it a few times. xD

I would like to live my life like Beliveau, but I have a VERY long way to go.

My point is I appreciate and recognize CLASS and respect those organizations and people that achieve it while winning.

I hope you read your post a few times, Also understand the words Class, Dignity ect. I dont like any players that dont play for the Habs it is that simple, As for 41 I hope he proves me wrong but have a feeling come April we will see where he is at.

  11. andrewberkshire says:

You’re a better man than me, there’s no way I would pay for anyone else to go to Habs games unless I’m going too!

  12. ed lopaz says:

I never asked you to even respond to it – who asked you to “cry about it”?

A number of people (including myself) don’t like many foods. Some people, montony in your meals isn’t a huge thing. Rest of my family would throw themselves off a bridge if they had to limit their diet like that but for me, I tend to have the same meals every week with little change.

    AH, it’s alright…I’ll still do it…

I may not know him personally, but I’ll pay for his tickets if it means him having a good time. Life is short, live it to the fullest!

You strive to be like Beliveau? I hope you mean while you’re on the ice because your comments on this site are very rarely in any way classy. Not saying mine are, but your behaviour is in no way comparable to Beliveau.

Can’t have yoghurt either because of the dairy. He’s a vegan after all.

  20. mike g says:

Oh I can prove that many people on this site hate BG and PG more than they hate the Leafs, for example….

I’m not comparing the emotions, management can never fulfill those shoes. Their feet are too small.

But what management can do, is provide the players to fulfill our emotional needs as hockey fans. And if you ask me, they’ve done a good job of taking care of that. But it still doesn’t take away the fact that everyone negatively debates about PG and BG on a daily basis. It’s unfair, totally rediculous.

All I was saying was the guy that made us all feel happy inside last year was braught in by BG. If not for him, Halak wouldn’t have played here. They faced a cap decision, and he COULDN’T figure in the plans. It sucks, but that’s business. The same way people lost their jobs during the recession, Halak lost his due to cap restrictions.

And don’t even go down the street of , “well they should have planned the cap better and left room for Halak”. Nobody, not even a crystal ball would have predicted Halak’s playoff performances last year. There was no way management could have planned for that. It happened, we enjoyed it, now it’s time for management to make sure CP can do it for us.

Let’s give it a few years before we all jump on management again.
