In the spirit of All-Star Game ‘draft’

I commented in the item below this one that, when I was chosen last for road-hockey games, I never was given a free bike. So Phil Kessel gets no pity from me for being chosen last for the NHL All-Star Game and getting a new car for the humiliation.

Boone mentioned that, in similar childhood drafts, he was sent to the wrong street.

So in keeping with the spirit of the day, here is the wonderful old Bill Cosby routine on a pick-up game of street football, which isn’t far removed from what will be played in Raleigh tomorrow night.

Phil Kessel is mentioned at about 1:07 in the clip below.

On the surface, ReplicaHandbagsPro.com looks like an excellent site. Their site design is crisp, clean, and classy, their selection is deep and varied, and their site is filled with lots of information. I was extremely excited when I ordered a LV Alma from them but, unfortunately, my extreme excitement only lead to extreme disappointment when my bag turned out to be flawed. Can anybody get replica bags right. We want red handbags,Cheap Nike Shoes, not red herrings!

Put Flopper, Snowflake or Lunatic on Montreal this season and see if their stats would be better than Price’s. I would bet my house they would be the same or worse. When a goalie has great stats one has to take into account the team that is in front of him.

Ray Emery on the comeback trail…..give him a chance next year as the back up…..let his stock rise as I’ve thought he’s always been a pretty good tender during his career.  Then when the brass trade him, for a pick or something, sanford or ramo will slide in along side price.  If they take ray, than the brass gets a good tender, and the tough guy this team so desperately needs according to some.

  4. habstrinifan says:

I would give Ray Emery a chance too. I think he has turned his life around and now injury-free is a better than average backup.

  5. pmaraw says:

all goalies had to be picked by the 10th round, so in essence price was picked in the last possible round he could be picked in.  he’s the statsny of goaltenders I guess.

  6. Cool Ice Price says:

Both teams were trying to beef up their scoring. In the past few yrs the ASG is not about the goalies, it all about the goal scoring. That’s why there are 20 goals scored in the ASGs now.

  7. CBrady12 says:

Funny, no one whined/complained about the all-star game when it was in Montreal.

It would be nice if everyone stopped getting so upset about the all-star game. Every pro league has one, so many people here are actually getting MAD about it. Is this really so important that everyone has to write a 500 word rant that no one will read? It’s just an exhibition game played for FUN, thats it.

  8. christophor says:

The only issue I have is that people actually take it seriously.

The draft was an ok idea, but the coverage was hyped and the players looked like they really didn’t want to listen to all that garbage coming from those commentators. I mean, Pierre was going on about Byfuglien playing forward to push Chara around and I’m just thinking, “…it’s the all-star game, Pierre; no one’s breaking down line assignments and no one’s pushing anyone except out of jest”.

The event itself is fun, of course. No problem with it. It’s just that TSN went down a notch in my books last night.

Edit: @the post below: Yes, damn those unreasonable people. They’re almost as bad as people who somehow compare online sports chat to vampires and crucifixes.

  9. Cool Ice Price says:

The whiners won’t reply cause you make sense.

There are a few HIO bullies here who like to make fun & bash other members, & when confronted with real facts & stats they back off. Reminds me of a bunch of Bloodsucking Vampires that pray on the innocent. They back off when faced with crucifixes‘.

Wow guys. When I was a kid, my father had a bunch of Cosby records, and along with “Street Fooltbal”, one of his best was “Ninth Street Bridge” and the famous “Kid’s Chevy’s and the PIPES”. Boy did it ever bring back memories. I am still laughing on the floor thinking about those old records. Thanks for the memories.

  13. Chuck says:

It’s the All-Star game. EVEYONE wil score a hatty.  :)

  14. Danno says:

I feel for Phil Kessel, I really do.

Revenge would be sweet to the heart of the unloved Kessel if scores a hatty Sunday. Stay tuned. Or not…

The NHL has been converted into a cheap reality show directed by Gary Bettman.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  15. Jocko says:

That pretty much sums it up!  I was working for the flames when they had the “Save the Flames” campaign.  The attendance was nowhere near the islanders current state, but the Dome was not filled every night.  at the time, the dollar was at approximately 0.62 American.  If the campaign had failed and had the Flames not gone on their run in 2004, would Bettman have moved the Flames?  and how about the Oilers in the next year?

Here we are now, dollar at par, and all the Canadian franchises are pretty healthy.  so, why is their no campaigns happening in Phoenix or New york to save the Coyotes or the islanders?  It’s easy to explain, because Bettman is clueless about hockey and works in the best interest of the American owners.

I don’t want to see Maurice tonight, I want to see The Rocket!

  16. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Just read the Globe article, and I have to say a couple things in there irked me.  First, I’m getting sick of Bettman running around proclaiming how well the Canadian franchises are doing like it is something his regime is responsible for.  First off Gary, the Canadian franchises are doing well because the loonie has fared well, which is a direct result of the major crash of the american economy and dollar.  So please stop taking credit for the state of the Canadian teams Gary unless you had a direct hand in destroying the US economy.   Gary is a fairwheather fan of Canada, when the loonie was in the dumps and Canadian teams were struggling, he didn’t hesitate to move them off to the sun belt.  Now that the loonie is doing good he’s all in love with Canada again.

Second was this quote, “there are those who believe if not for Bettman, Canadian franchises might have been lost, perhaps even Montreal and Vancouver as well.”   Well let me be the first Habs fan to step up to the plate and offer my undying gratitude Gary!  Thank you so much for saving my Habs!   I mean really?  Can someone please tell me when exactly there was ever a possibility of losing the Montreal Canadiens franchise??

  17. The Cat says:

    Well said.

[Disclaimer]: I’m a hockey fan. I care about the habs, but probably not as much as you.

  18. chevy013 says:

if Kessel was picked last, why did he receive a new car?

  19. Jocko says:

To ease the embarassment, and to appease the CBC, who could not stand to see their boy picked last!  Wonder what second place was, a contract with the Laffs?  Oh, wait, he has that to!

I don’t want to see Maurice tonight, I want to see The Rocket!
