Well I just read the article on Dick Irvin, and I tried to put up a comment, but one needs to have a Face Book account. I don’t have one….. SO, here is what I wanted to say:

No Dick that is not true! I miss your friendly voice every time I watched a Habs broadcast and gleefully wish you and Danny were still calling the Canadiens. I can truly say I am a fan of you Mr. Irvin. I truly have admired your work when you were in the buisness and have also truly missed you and your thought full comments. You were one of the people whom I’d say were also part of that “Canadiens: What a Classy Orgainzation” even though you never worked for them directly. You made watching those games fun!

I miss the hell out of Gallivan and Irvin. That was play by play and colour commentary at its best.
Most others are either too clownish (the Buffalo Sabre announcer) or dull (Hughson).
I recall Dick Irvin doing the play by play of “Montreal Minor Hockey” from the TMR arena.

…since Hickey’s Midnight Fantasies have gone viral (diseased?) in HIO, I only check-in every few days now
…so relieved this night is good readable stuff from Stubbs …and this is such a relief
