Happy holidays from Inside/Out

From all of us at Habs Inside/Out, our sincerest wishes to our faithful and passionate visitors for a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.

We’re closing up shop between now and midday on Dec. 27, when we’ll be back with a preview of the Canadiens-Tampa Bay Lightning game, which of course we’ll cover that evening. Should anything Earth-shattering happen in the next day or so, we’ll be back.

Until then, feel free to use this post as a catch-all for your thoughts and comments. And remember, folks, this is the holiday season. Keep things civil!

    Thank you.

I love those Dogs. My wife won’t let me have one though.

    Damn wife …LOL……………

  2. Sulemaan says:

Habs card was a team card with Koivu, Ryder and Huet.
Leafs card was Tucker. Hence the ‘yuck’ was quite justified. (GRIN)

All the best to you and yours Scotty.

  3. Girth says:

The following are a few of the gifts santa plans to hand to the HABS.

    Francis Bouillon: 2 inch lifts.
    Michael Ryder: A soccer net.
Andrei Markov: “Searching for Bobby Orr” by Steven Brunt.
Mike Komisarek: Darcey Tucker with his head down.
Christopher Higgins: 2 highly trained dobermann pinschers, Zeus and Apollo (A.K.A. “The Lads”).
Tom Kostopoulos: A weekend with Bob Probert.
Andrei Kostitsyn: An invitation to Paul Maurice’s house.
Maxim Lapierre: A double wide “tempo” for his Hummer. (St-Leonard style).
Sergei Kostitsyn: A fake ID card.
Saku Koivu: Subscription to the Journal de Montreal.
Patrice Brisebois: Already got his present… (Christmas was in July for Pat this year!)
Carey Price: 2 cases of REDBULL!

Guy Carbonneau: A perpetual road trip.
Doug Jarvis: A day off. (FINALLY!)
Bob Gainey: Alexander Ovechkin… or a win on Dec 23.

The rest get a $10 gift certificate to the Barfly.

  4. Ed says:

What a beautiful looking dog. We have 3 dogs – 2 @ 45 lbs & 1 @ 18 lbs. The Newfoundland Dog is a lot heavier than the 3 of them combined.

Seeing that he is a Newfoundland, & Ryder is a Newfoundlander, I can’t resist saying that I hope that he is not in the dog house like Ryder is. I’m sure he’s not.

    Enjoy the holidays.

  5. Scotty90 says:

Was it a Ribeiro card? Just kidding.

    Merry Christmas Sulemaan.

I hope someone bought Carbo a new pack of gum to chew for 2008, he’s gonna need it!

  9. Sulemaan says:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. It’s great getting to know all these fellow fans. Better believe I’m at the next I/O Fans summit!

FYI – My 4 year old opened up her first pack of hockey cards today and was thrilled there was a Habs card in the pack. She said the Leaf one was ‘yucky’ and told her friends the Leafs are ‘bad guys’. 🙂

  10. Keith says:

Merry Christmas to everyone and especially to Habs I/O. You guys fuel the passion and it’s been awesome being on this site with very knowledgable passionate writers and fans. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Enjoy your time off and be safe.

  11. sidhu says:

I wish you and your families a joyous holiday season. I hope these holidays and the coming year bring you much happiness!

Special thanks to the Habs I/O staff for providing us with excellent coverage of the team and for giving us a forum to express our views on our boys.

  12. Hoegarden says:

Wishing all HIO posters, staff, a Joyous Christmas and may Santa bring you all your wishes (on and off the ice) tonight.

  13. Leclerc1965 says:

Happy Holiays to all and especially to all the Habs fans out there. Sometimes we are cruel, sometimes we are not but it is for love of the game and our team we have come to identify with. Remember, we are Habs fans because we gather here to share in anger and jubilation. I wish the best for our team because hockey is the only sport that matters!

  14. Mattee. says:

    Merry friggin Christmas to all!

This rollercoaster ride has nearly reached it’s half way point. May the second half bring us more laughs and less headaches, more cheers & beers and less tears.

Be safe out there everyone, it’s Christmas time.

    Happy Holidays,

  15. A. Berke says:

I’ve already posted but it’s good to repeat it:

Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to All.

  16. the Maritimer says:

Season’s Greetings to the wonderful folks who maintain this site and allow all the rantings. Great place to find solace amongst fellow Habs fans. Let’s hope Santa Gainey brings us a shiney new toy tonight. Well, we can always wait an extra day or two I guess.

It gets heated in here at times but we all want the same for our team. Maybe Santa will give us what we all want next year….A WINNING TEAM AND A STANLEY CUP….

  18. T-roy West says:

To everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Play safe.

    T-roy West 🙂

  26. The Teacher says:

Happy holidays all the HIO staff including Dave, Kevin, Mike, and DRU.

All the best to everyone involved, and safe driving!

  27. Grabbed The Cup says:

Happy holidays and the best of wishes to everyone here.

To Dave, Mike, Pat, and Kevin, thank you for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated by all of us who make visiting HIO a regular part of our day.

To all the fun, interesting, and friendly people I met at the summit, I consider myself lucky to have met you and look forward with great anticipation to seeing you again.

To everyone here, especially those that take the time to put into print their inciteful views on our team, thank you for giving us the meat in our HIO sandwich.

Enjoy this special time of the year, and please remember to be safe when travelling, see you all for the Tampa game.

  28. Ed says:

Mike, just a little correction. Latendresse was born May 24, 1987, which means he is only 20.

  29. MikeMcLaren says:

Well HO HO HO everyone! On this Christmas Eve I see that Santa has dropped his list of goodies he’s bringing the Habs this year. I’m sure no one will mind if I take the liberty of posting it up here.

I’m also sure there are plenty of you out there who can suggest alternate gifts for the boys. Most have been more nice than naughty though:

#3 Ryan O’Byrne – a set of rear view mirrors for his helmet so he can avoid being benched by coach Jarvis in the new year.

#6 Tom Kostopolous – an autographed picture of the Gazette’s Mike Boone, his biggest fan.

#8 Mike Komisarek – a new yoga mat.

#11 Saku Koivu – a “Get Well Soon” gift basket (to be re-gifted to Justin Williams)

    #14 Tomas Plekanec – two turtlenecks and a beer… in a tree

#20 Bryan Smolinksi – a shiny new knee brace

#21 Christopher Higgins – finishing touch around the net

#22 Steve Begin – more spark plugs

#25 Mathieu Dandenault – the reintroduction of the “rover” position so he can play that too

#26 Josh Gorges – a press release settling once and for all how you pronounce his last name – “Gorgeous” or “Georges” who knows, really?

#27 Alex Kovalev – a sidecar for stability

#28 Kyle Chipchura – Collector’s Edition Freddy Prinze Jr. DVD box set

#31 Carey Price – some replacement ice water for his veins

    #32 Mark Streit – cheese

#39 Cristobal Huet – a rule change to eliminate the shootout

#40 Maxim Lapierre – fighting lessons

#44 Roman Hamrlik – already has everything

#46 Andrei Kostitsyn – an “A.” for his jersey

#51 Francis Boullion – a goal. Just one.

#71 Patrice Brisebois – planet tickets to Paris

    #73 Michael Ryder – 27 more goals

    #74 Sergei Kostitsyn – a “S.” for his jersey

#79 Andrei Markov – some sort of deal that will bring his best friend to the team

#84 Guillaume Latendresse – nothing much, just a little respect and recognition for what he is doing as a 21 year old power forward. Oh, and speed skating lessons.

So there it is – I hope they all get what they were looking for this Christmas, and I hope all the Habs Inside Out staff and readers do too!

  30. downeast hab says:

Merry Christmas to all. Dont forget to watch the world juniors. Go Canada

  31. HAB-PROFESSOR says:

Real Hockey starts after Christmas, so I’m just going to offer a one line comment on the personal as I see it up to this point in the season:

GORGES – has not disappointed and has surprisingly shown some grit, more offence expected
OBYRNE – has brought size where we need it, but I’m still waiting for that crushing body check re; KOMI style
LAPIER – has delivered exactly what CARB asked, but we know he can do much more
BOUILion – was shakey at start but is now a force, quick, strong, reliable and drops the gloves
GRAB – stay down till you are ready to dominate, playing scared up here
SERGIE – turning out to be a solution, dominating and has enough grit to keep him out of injury or playing scared
BEGIN – we will be a better team when he returns
KOSTOP – his strengths have been bottled up and thrown away by CARB, needs to mirror Begin
BRISE – He will retire a Hab, and has already graciously begun that decent.
KOMI – continues his rise to dominance
DANDY – Tenacious, Versatile, earns his icetime
RYDER – we need our 30 goals back – quick release must return, that was the key.
CHIP – Carbs clone – every facet of his game is rooted in CARBONISM, coaching staff love this kid, as do we
SMOKE – veteran patience which is needed at times, but is not playing with an EDGE, and thats needed more.
LATRON – good strength down low and quick release, keep working on speed.
HAMR – our BEST defenseman in all categories
A.KOST – Solid, strong skater and hitter with an eye for the net, chemistry is working with linemates
STREIT – Carb puppy, filling his given role with fear, solid, but would be a top 4 asset on Defense
MARKOV – Precision clinic and when he puts on a bit of edge becomes the most potent D in the NHL
HIGGS – couldn’t buy a goal out of the gate, has found the net with ease now, less stick work required
KOIVU – when things go his way and the stars align, he is our best player
PLEK – amazing rise for this rocket, good vision, good chemistry and good knack to take the shot if he sees it
KOVY – The Greatness has returned. If it hadn’t we would not be in a playoff position, thats how great of an effect it is, can score at will (the way he changed postitions with ANDRE on the powerplay and blasted the goal was priceless)

HUET – #1 lets make that perfectly clear – now be it.
PRICE – Greatest draft choice made by Gainey. He is learning and has shown signs of his future greatness.

CARB & Co. – In the short term we’ve been agitated by his shuffling, but in the long term it will become invaluable as there were many noted ‘discoveries’ during those times. Other than the RYDER debacle there is little he has done wrong in the big picture.

CONCLUSION – we will make the playoffs

    Merry Christmas to all
    1. until the problem in my picture is solved…we will not be Champions.
    2. Delenda Est Torontium….
    3. your not a Hab fan till you watch & UNDERSTAND “The Rocket”

  32. Ed says:

Happy holidays to everybody, and many thanks to Dave Stubbs, Mike Boone, and Pat & Kevin.

  33. G-Man says:

Here`s wishing the staff of HIO and all Habs fans from here to Kandahar a Merry Christmas!
May the Habs find a cure for the Holiday Blues Dec. 27th!
