Happy 93rd to Habs icon Elmer Lach

Please join Habs Inside/Out in wishing Canadiens Hall of Famer and legendary Punch Line centreman Elmer Lach a happy 93rd birthday.

Elmer will be in front of his TV tonight watching the Habs take on the Anaheim Ducks, sipping a glass of wine with his wife, Lise, and no doubt taking many phone calls of best wishes from friends.

CBC’s Lynne Robson produced a marvellous feature on Elmer in 2009, complete with some terrific archival game-action film. We’ve taken the liberty of including it here. (There’s mention of Elmer’s No. 16 not having been retired by the Canadiens. The Habs remedied that on Dec. 4, 2009, the night of their Centennial Game against Boston; the team retired Elmer’s sweater, and the No. 3 of Emile Bouchard.)

Enjoy the video, and many happy returns to Elegant Elmer!

Happy Birthday to a true gentleman. I remeber I used to caddy for him at the old Malborough / Cartiercille Golf Club back in the mid ’60′s. He was a hell of a golfer also.

LOVE seeing that video, and if anyone doubtsthat Mr Stubbs just loves this game, this video would prove them wrong, you just see the passion and care of Mr Stubs there, not bad for an ex WWF Referee
