Lafleur was in a different era – apples to oragnes. NHLers in the 70s didn’t train 365 days a year.
Why boo Halak? No man, i’m not one of those idiot Halak fan boys. Just pointing out that Halak had a bad game and Price gave us a chance to win against the flyers and most other playoff teams, Halak on the other hand not so much 5-8-1 is his record?!

Markov is excellent – world class – but he IS LIMITED by the fact that his partner is a #5 d-man playing along side him.
Larry Robinson had Serge Savard next to him (or next to each other, however you wwant it).
MARKOV NEEDS TO GET MORE IMPLICATED IN THE OFFENCE – pair him with someone else who can hold down the fort while Markov gets involved.

Gee , you know, I have never heard anyone talk about any of this. The reports I have read is Price has become one of the hardest workers during practice. Guy Lafleur smoked like a chimney. I would think that some further evidence is needed before these assumptions can be stated as fact.

Pretty obvious we have 2 different teams. Easier to trade 1 player. I’m not saying trade Price but something needs to be done regardless of what’s going on behind the scenes.
This Goalie debate is done, people. Over – finished. Halak has out preformed, outworked (especially off the ice) and outplayed Price ALL SEASON. This team wins with him and nets, for better for worse.
Price will not see the ice for the rest off the season (unless we clich or get eliminated from the playoff race).

Seriously though, in my opinion we have 4 natural scorers (supposedly): Cammalleri, AK, Gionta and Pouliot. All of which should be able to score between 25-30 goals per season. Combine these guys with our 2 playmakers/passers Gomez and Plekanec and we are supposed to have 2 pretty decent scoring lines…
So I think it’s really messed up that this team isn’t scoring. But the answer is clear: they never get any of their own rebounds! Why? Because no one goes to the net. On the Gomez line, Pouliot should go to the net. On the Plekanec line, it should be AK. On the Moore line, it should be Moen. Why don’t they do it?!
Man, this team is going to give me an ulcer.
Because of the injuries all year we have some very important older players who have played more than the should have. We also have guys playing hurt. No need to put more stress on their bodies than is absolutely needed. If they do not know what they need to do to be successful at this time, a morning skate is not going to help them anyway.
Well that’s good, the last thing the Habs need is more practice…

the goalie controversy is inevitable when you have 2 good young goalies. I much rather have the habs current situation than what the flyers have in between the pipes. Hopefully the habs start strong tonight and light the lamp early.

If it is true, that the guys play better infront of Halak then when infront of Price, I know 18 players who need to be traded right now !!! I do not buy this line of thinking for a minute.
This team is slumping, regardless of who’s in nets.
Once they get out of the slump they will be fine.

Halak and Price have been playing great but as a habs fan it’s very clear that there’s a different chemestry on the ice when Halak’s in net. Not taking away anything from Price but he’s not getting the results. Not his fault either as he has stood on his head many times. It’s all about the rest of the team. They play better in front of Halak. Life doesn’t always work out like we want it to. It’s possible that theres some tension between Price and some other players and it flows onto the ice. Is it possible that Markov and Price are at odds?? Who knows. All I know is we need wins and we need to get into the big show or the whole season means nothing. GO HABS GO!!!

Yeah the goalie talk is boring you’re right. I hope Cammy gets it going too, and that Gionta, Gomez get back on track. If those two lines can heat up that’ll be perfect. That’s the one-two every team needs to win two first lines.
Yes, Halak was average against the Islanders, but two shutouts in a row cannot possibly be called average. He made great saves in those two games.

Apparently it took 78 games for the majority of the people to realize that the debate on this team is waaaaay far from the goalies… An interesting poll would be to ask fans from the other 29 teams how much they would like to have Price-Halak as their goalies…
At least he made it to the bronze medal game. Which was just short of a miracle, and largely because of him. His overall goalie performance was considered the 2nd best in the tourney BTW. The other guy wasn’t even a top 6 consideration for team Canada. So think before you post. And if you insist on saying a goalie blows a lead by himself, even though the Slovaks took like 4 penalties in a row during the 3rd, then you have to say Price blew the 2 goal lead in Buffalo and then got torched in the shootout on his own….I shouldn’t even get sucked in, but the nonsense people like you spit up, is beyond reason.

If there was a forth star price had it. But he was not one of the top three on the ice. He played well enough but he did not win the game.

If he had won the game he was a shoe in for the first star, i think he played that well. He was the reason this wasn’t a blow out. Too many nights this season the goalie in our net has to be one of th three stars for us to win, or at least close to it.

Halak’s game against the Finn’s really has no bearing. I don’t think he even suggested Halak would have done better. The problem with this team is the goalie, whichever one is in, has to be one of the three stars , or close to it, for us to win.

Hey don’t get me wrong. The rest of the team did not even make the top 10 best players on the ice. Including some absolutely hidious performances from Ak, Spacek, and Gill but the best plays, and players belonged to Carolina sorry. Can you honestly say anyone on the CH made as much of a difference as the three players I mentioned above?(Sutter,ward, stahl) I don’t think so. I like Carey Price as a future starter, I hope he has an unbelievable season here or somewhere else next year so don’t get me wrong, that kid has it.

Gotta say I think JM got it right. The team lost and what is he supposed to say? Carey did a great job tonight? I don’t think so. He went as far as saying Carey didn’t lose it for the team, but he didn’t win the game like one Mr. Ward did for his team. As for the booing we already saw Gainey try and call out the fans for Brisebois and that didn’t do anything. The fans will think what they want to and so be it. At the end of the day it’s the supporters of Canadien’s hockey that pay the bills.
By the way I didn’t see one star one the Canadiens wednesday night it should have been Sutter, Ward, Stahl 1 2 3. I hope we play much better vs Philly tonight Go Habs Go !
The star that Price got was well deserved. Everyone in life has had times where they put in the work and did not get the results they desired.
So sorry, but the coach has to stand up for his players in that situation. I’m as big a Halak supporter as there is (as he is by far the better goalie), but booing Price – especially after a good game – is just stupid. He is a member of the team, and deserves respect. And anytime a goalie lets in 2 or less goals, he did his job well
