Habs scholarship program benefits amateurs

The Canadiens this evening announced a $100,000 investment over a three-year period to support the initiatives of the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence and create the Montreal Canadiens Scholarship Program to benefit the most promising young players in both women’s and men’s hockey.

The Foundation’s main objective is to provide financial support to performing athletes who also distinguish themselves in the classroom and help them strive towards excellence as young role models in Quebec’s society. In 2008, through its various scholarship programs, the Foundation will hand out over $600,000 in scholarships to deserving athletes.
