Louis Leblanc will have dressing-room company on the West Coast.

From the Canadiens late tonight:
The Canadiens announced tonight that forward Louis Leblanc has been recalled from the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.
In his first season at the professional level, the 20-year old centreman ranks tied for second on the Bulldogs scoring list with 10 points (4 goals and 6 assists) in 14 games thus far this season. Leblanc scored two of his goals on the power play and added 48 shots on goal.
The 6-foot, 184-pound native of Kirkland, Que., recorded 58 points (26 goals and 32 assists) along with 100 penalty minutes in 51 games with the QMJHL Montreal Junior in 2010-11.
The Canadiens’ first round selection, 18th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Leblanc signed a 3-year contract with the Club on July 30, 2010.

A friendship founded on business is better than business founded on friendship. Thanks!
I don’t know how historically every time a Hab is doing good some unfortunate event will put a stop to it:
-Koivu when he was the leaugue’s leading scorer, injured his leg in 1996.
-Robert Lang when he was leading the team in scoring, get his Achilles tendon cut in 2009.
-Cammalleri on pace to a 40 goal season injured his leg badly against Ottawa last year, almost ended his season.
-Cammalleri when he scores every time he shoots at the beginning of this season got his ankle sliced.
-Pacioretty scores regularly this season until he is suspended.
-And THAT Pacioretty incident…
Is the team stuck in some kind of Greek tragedy curse?
Looks like this could be a tough road trip. No Max Pac for the three games (was there ever any doubt with most of you that he would be suspended?).
The call up of Leblanc is great news for the kid, provided he actually sees some ice time, and you know how iffy that can be with JM. Great news for the kid, but truth is though, if we are looking to a kid up from the minors who has 10 points in 14 games to have a big impact on this trip, then we are in some serious trouble. Of those 10 points, 4 were goals. Four goals in fourteen games is okay, but nothing to write home about. So, although you cannot discount the importance of setup guys providing assists, this club needs goal scorers. We have plenty of setup guys, but nobody to finish. I have no doubt Leblanc can blossom into a goal scorer at the NHL level, but it’s going to take some time.
To you who are sick and tired of the anti-JM movement on here, better sit down, take some medication, and get used to it. There will be no real improvement on this team, even when fully healthy, until changes have been made. Martin has reached the end of his shelf-life and the players are maybe not totally rebelling, but certainly seem to be just going through the motions at times. Not because of his famous system, but because of his in-game decisions and player handling. Occasionally they rise to the occasion, but not often enough. Of course these are just my opinions, however, shared by many Habs fans/hockey fans, both on this site and everywhere else you might find yourself talking hockey. I would love to see this team sweep this western road trip. Would like nothing better than that. I would never hope for losses, thinking that it could spell the end of JM. But I think there is certainly a good possibility that the Habs could lose all three of these games, and looking around the league this week, you have to think the noose is tightening around Martin’s neck. Maybe PG’s too.
Hope he does well. It would be nice to see him get a couple points, maybe even a goal, but if not that’s fine as long he doesn’t make any huge defensive mistakes.
25 before 14
I hope the kid does well. Enjoyed watching him at the WJHC last winter, he seemed to be one of the more versatile players, getting both PP and PK duty. I think those attributes fit in nicely to this team. To all the keyboard GM’s and Coaches on here, I’ll wait and see where he plays before I trash JM for putting him on the 4th line and I’ll wait a year or two before I say the organization ruined him. He’s being called up for 3 games, he didn’t make the squad out of training camp, to me that’s not rushing anybody. Based on many factors, he’s probably the best choice for a call-up at this time. It’s easy for us on here to say who should or shouldn’t be called up when we need a replacement, but I’m the first one to admit that those decisions are based more than just on who’s the better player. It depends on who has to or doesn’t have to clear waivers along with other things that I don’t claim to understand.

So there were two young Quebec born centers who wore the #20 jersey for their first couple games in the NHL, they did change numbers the first season they played with the big club for good. Jean Beliveau and Guy Carboneau. hehe just saying!
11 might be nice.
Had Max simply hit him like Emelin likes to, with a nice “see ya Later” hip check…we’d be still talking about beating the Penguin’s and watching Letang go flying on youtube. He deserved 1-3 games.. let’s move on. As for Leblanc, go get’em kid.
Positive Post Warning. I think this trip West comes at a great time. Nobody cares about Hockey there so the boys can get away and clear their heads plus we seem to get decent results on the road.
Disclaimer – Sorry. This was the best I could do at the moment.

So are you forfeiting your season tix or any other tickets you have already paid for?
No, he’s hoping like you are that others will drop their tickets in his lap.

Let the destruction of another young player begin.
Unbelievable. The first thing I thought when I read the title of the article is that it’s great to see the Habs call up an offensive minded player, regardless of age…and then the first post I see is yours.
Pathetic.

Because it’s going to be so wonderful seeing Leblanc playing wing on the 4th line.
Can we let the game start before we rip the coach about how badly he used the guy? Calling him up was a good first step. Now, if he gets a couple minutes on the PP or even just a few on a pretty offensive 3rd line, would that be so bad for his first NHL game to get him accustomed?
How do you guys function being so negative 24/7?

“Fans are great, but the quickest way to start losing is to listen to them.” – Sam Pollock
The real question is how do you remain so positive. Notice I didn’t say deluded to counter your pathetic attack.
Not always negative but this is how I respond to injustice. This Patch suspension on top of the no suspensions for Cook and Boons has me in a foul mood. Will try to post something positive soon.
Yeah never happens before. You think maybe Gui or Laps would have had better results if they weren’t rushed? And we all know how Martin just loves young players. BTW please feel free to disagree with me anytime but try to do so without insults.

I am not Pathetic.
I called your comment pathetic, not you. Don’t be so sensitive. Life’s gonna get tougher than this.
Gui & Lapierre were given ample opportunity. If Louis is afforded the same, it will be up to him actually seize it, unlike them.

So you’re complaining about his post being negative … but you’re also stooping to personal insults?

You seem to have quite an open mind for this 3 game set for Louis.
What can I say. I have a poor attitude but never will I be pathetic.
Haha, hope your day gets better my friend!
No kidding eh, it’s too bad the owners are such morons. You just know he’s going to get called up and sit on the 3rd or 4th line. What a shame.
It’s up to the player to make the most of his chances…it’s a get ‘er done type world. I’ll agree that JM has made many head shaking decision’s in the past (the power play- Gomez’s ice time) he’s not out there to ruin players…it’s old school he’s the coach, you’re the rookie on a big pro team..do what your told , learn quick and zip it.
I think the West coast is exactly what the boys need…watch for #31 to steal at least one game and Plekanec to have a huge week…
Dale Hunter is taken. Muller is taken. The team is in 23rd place heading south. Max got three, and yeah he deserved them, but so did Chara, Malone, Lucic, and others who skated away free. Stupid penalties every game, anemic PP, great PK (no wonder – they practice it half the game), and everyone has soothing words.
Poor Markov, coming back to this mess. And yeah…it is exactly that…a mess.
Martin got Weber right Dmen playing left and PK having playing right all is life on the left as well and went that does not work he put them as forward , a mess it is
Both Weber (partnered wth Spacek on the left point) and Subban (partnered with Gill or Gorges on the left point) play on the right side in every situation except the power play.
And for every coach in this world, the “shooter” on the power play plays on his off-side so that he can get off one-timers. Why did you think the left-handed Wisniewski was so frequently on the right point? Souray (left-handed), Streit (left-handed), and Schneider (left-handed) all playing the right point while Andrei Markov fed them from the left point…
There are reasonable complaints about Martin. This isn’t one of them.
100% agreed. You have to have the guy with the big shot on his wrong point on the PP.
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”

Wisniewski’s a right-handed shot btw…just saying
How are headed south? We’re much better than we were at the start of the season but we just had back-to-back games against 2 of the top teams in the conference. Glad we even got a point.

California is out west not south. (I am being facetious)

Well, I suspect the Habs didn’t envision having to call up Louis this early in the season, but it is only for 3 games until Max returns. Hopefully he can make the most of this opportunity and use it is a learning tool to see where his game is at and gear the rest of the season in Hamilton to coninue improvement.
Hopefully he gets to play on a line which suits his skillsets, I don’t think having him on the 4th line will do him any justice or the team, but I suppose we have to trust JM to do whats best.
Good Luck Louis, enjoy!
Good morning Burl. I am not happy today so take what I’m about to write with that in mind. Our coach will probably play Louie on the 4th line and if he shows any thing other then defensive play he will sit and we will watch Weber play wing on the 4th line.
Speaking of Weber, how the he’ll does Diaz get seeded above him on the D pairings? Did Martin not watch Weber in the playoffs or Diaz play recently?
God forbid Louie display any enthusiasm ie PK. Martin wants players such as Giggles Gomez, sleepy Gionta, and deer in the headlights Cammy on his bench.
I am sick of it! This team needs a complete organizational change
And the only thing I will add about Patch’ssuspension…..Where is Mr. Molson?
I hear your frustration, I am as well, but as long as JM is coaching this team, all I can do is hope for the best. There is nothing I can do about it, so I am just looking forward to seeing what Louis does, given whatever opportunity he gets.
I thought he looked real good at the World Jr’s and showed an ability to play shutdown, top line or whatever role was asked of him, all the while doing it with a bad shoulder.
Like I said, I hear you, but am trying to see the positive is all.
Im sure Martin remember him playing some defensive line at the Wold Junior
Max-Pac must be thinking in the league’s eyes a broken nose is worse than a broken neck.

well said!
It will be good to see how far Leblanc has developed, and a road trip is perfect for this. It’s long past time to either give Palushaj a shot somewhere on the top 3 to actually see what he can do or send him back to Hamilton.
Well fellow HABs fans , it’s not entirely right compared to other “lack” of suspensions but….3 games in the press box is better than 6 weeks on the IR from some freakish injury we are all used to suffering…..
Patches gets a rest….and the KID gets a call up. This made my day a bit better thus far. Excited to see him play in the NHL !!
This doesnt solve our prolems with the number 11……
The Bulldogs must be thinking: “make it stop please”.
Can you imagine if he scores a couple?
Oh man! You thought calls for Gui, Gui, Gui were bad…
Still, I’d love for someone to interview Cams or Gomer after that happens. Maybe they can ask them if they’re concerned about being replaced…
Seriously. I’m just dumbfounded by Shanny. He’s unbelievable! The guy makes absolutely no sense. Can we please get someone who is independent already and a former ref. This is embarrassing…
I wonder if they’ll give Leblanc Doug Wickenheiser’s old #25 jersey? Might as well.
I said the day Leblanc was drafted that this franchise, it’s fans and the local media, would destroy this kid eventually. I just never thought it would start so soon.
Double post
The kid has a great head on his shoulders and doesn’t strike as an “entitlement” player. I think he’ll work hard and not complain.
I believe Louie will be wearing #20 for the Habs…same as with the Dogs..
take your drink to the end of the bar buddy…come on now, don’t be a fool…
The Kid’s about the live out a boyhood dream. Cheers to him. May we all be so fortunate in our lives to achieve the things we hope for.
I don’t foresee LeBlanc getting much ice time under the cow milking coach. Hopefully LeBlanc could give us a peak of what he’s capable of doing and not turn into a wishful hopeful like those previous to him.
When we moan and whine about this suspension, we sound like a bunch of Toronto fans. It’s entirely legitimate to complain about the lack of consequences when Max, Campoli and others were injured. But it’s just dumb to complain when the rules are actually applied, just because we’re not happy that the punished player is a Hab.
Fact is, Pacioretty should have been suspended and we all know it. I don’t care if it was entirely intentional, and neither should you. He could and should have done more to avoid taking Letang’s head off, pure and simple.
The lack of suspensions on Malone and Chara were a joke. But if Steckel and Hedman can somehow both escape suspension when they demolish the NHL’s golden boy, there’s more wrong with the league than bias against this or that team. All these errors are evidence of real problems in the NHL, but they don’t mean that Pacioretty shouldn’t get what he deserves. He and every other player who delivers a headshot should get an automatic 15 games, with additional penalties if intent to injure is obvious. That would get headshots out of the game real quick.
And if we really think that Shanahan cares at all about the success or failure of the Canadiens, we need to get over ourselves.
Mike Boone: “With Gainey at my side, I’d walk into any dark alley in the world.”
How do suspensions get “headshots” out of the game if the contact with the head is clearly not intentional? That doesn´t make sense. The only solution to avoid body/shoulder – head contact would be getting rid of hitting in general.
I cannot speak for others, but I am not moaning or whining about the suspension. From the day it happened I had a feeling 2-3 maybe even more games would be given to Max. The issue I have, is the apparant injustice being shown in clear light as far as Shanny’s wheel of justice is concerned.
If over the next few weeks and the rest of the season we see more consistency from Shannahan, then fine. But if the decisions continue to seem more related to what teams commit the infractions or which team suffers the hit, then to me all is lost.
LOOOU!!!
Carey Price #31
@Boone: Unfortunately I can´t comment on the other thread. Let the anguished howls begin, Boone? Habs get screwed once again and all you have to offer is some half-hearted criticism. When the team sucks, you find some harsh words. I remember some of your comments about a 23 year old dman and a Russian rookie in the last couple of weeks. Now, have you ever asked Jacques Martin a real critical question, will you ever point out that the NHL is a complete joke and disgrace when it comes to reffing or disciplinary issues? No, of course not. You really need to grow some balls.
Shanahan? I have no respect for him any more. For all I care, the NHL can bring Campbell back.
Louis Leblanc? I´d love to see him on the third line with Eller and Kostitsyn. Playing him 3 minutes on the fourth line with Darche and Nokelainen? We could have called up Willsie to do that.
Somebody better tell the kid not to hit anything that ain’t wearing bleu, blanc et rouge, or he’ll find himself suspended for the rest of his call-up.
The NHL frowns upon hitting now. Its such a huge risk hitting anyone now, because if they hit their head, or even appear injured, you will be suspended (unless you play on some black and gold teams). THe NHL is trying to change the culture of hitting, but what they dont realize is that they’re slowly removing it. Hockey is turning into soccer, soon players will start to dive with more frequency, watch!

Leblanc-Eller-Ak46
Darche-Nokia-Paloosh
But Martin will prolly dress 7 d again and have St. Denis play 32 seconds on a 4th line with Nokia and Leblanc. God Martin needs to go
Is it me? Or does Leblanc have ginormous feet? And, assuming he has the package to match, a big brass pair is just what our crew needs. Keep him when Patches comes back and put that metrosexual Cammy in the pressbox. He’s really been phoning it in while trying to avoid getting a broken fingernail… separate travel accessory bags for nail clippers etc… c’mon! Somebody show him “the rocket”
OOH AAH – HABS ON THE WARPATH!
hilarious!
Best that his fill-in time is while the Habs are away from the bright lights of the Bell Centre. Kid is under enough scrutiny as the only Quebecois who is a real top prospect in the whole organization.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

Journal de Montreal and RDS are gonna be all over it in a big way, which will be detrimental to his development imho.

Agreed, put Cammy in the pressbox
OOH AAH – HABS ON THE WARPATH!
They needed a big winger to replace Pacioretty and Avstin would have filled in nicely. Leblanc may be able to play the wing but he needs to play center and there are just too many on the club right now.

Very nice bro …very nice! Been a fun day for us Canadiens.
what a joke. you would rather have a player that is french than a player that can play. that is what is wrong with the canadiens. Not saying that he cant play. DD and MD ARE JUNK. Say what you want, they are only there because they are french.
…sigh

Is this a move out of need or just the application of spin?
Why not Blunden? He knows the way to end of the bench for sitting purposes!
Bet your boots Darche will take Pacioretty’s spot and those stone mits will negate the effectiveness of the second line.

No offense.

I second the motion…you are an idiot. DD is here because he’s proved at every level he can get the job done, and he continues to prove you and many others wrong game in and game out. It doesn’t matter who he plays with…he makes them better. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being being french …the kid is a good little hockey player. Darche is here because he is cheap.
take your drink to the end of the bar buddy…come on now, don’t be a fool…
Surprised Boudreau/Hunter and Maurice/Muller weren’t the biggest stories, even TSN had the Patches suspension as the main story when I looked.
Great. Jacques Martin will play him on the 4th line with Darche and Nokelienen. He will play 2 minutes a game and have no impact.
You’re probably right, but I don’t think Leblanc is quite ready for top line minutes. Let him get a taste for 3 games and then send him back down.
Chrisadiens and HabFan10912, one of the few father son tandems on HIO.
I want whatever you’re smoking! You honestly think Darche will be on the fourth line? Who do you think will get Pacioretty’s place? Darche is going to get 16 minutes and a lot of it will be on the PP.
IT’s the Martinian Way!
Good to see the kid get a chance. Max Pac suspension a joke by a NHL front office that does not have the guts to stand up to Jermey Jacobs. Why don’t they just award another Bettman Cup to the Bruins and save us all a lot of time.
thats the question at hand, did Jacobs buy himself a cup or a dynasty?
I think it’s a bit early to call him up at this stage, but I hope he makes a few waves.
Antichambre is going to have a field day when they send him back down in time.

Its only going to be for 3 games, who else would you play? Avtsan needs to be kept under 10 games for some contract reason I think.
Chrisadiens and HabFan10912, one of the few father son tandems on HIO.
Saw L’Antichambre for the first time in ages. I think it’s time that they put the Tiger back in his cage — to read some hockey books. Clueless. I like Gauthier tho. He brings some sense to the proceedings. How do guys like this and Rejean Tremblay and that other fat lawyer guy get jobs in hockey broadcasting? I know more about hockey than all these idiots combined. Maybe the fact that everyone sees them coming and gives them zero information has something to do with it.
What a joke. Pacioretty was penalized and yes he hit a little high, but this wasn’t premeditated . I could live with a game, he has no past history, three game is absolutely ludicrous. What a bunch of wack jobs, nothing to Lucic when he drops his head and levels Miller, Chara follows through with his arms and launches Patches into the Stanchion nothing. Incredible.
Keep up the good work morons.
Ricko
Also Malone nothing for the headshot on Campoli in the preseason. You want a rock solid look at inconsistency? In his statement on Max’s hit he said the onus was on the player to avoid the headshot…while on the Malone/Campoli hit it was basically not Malone’s fault because Campoli was bent over reaching for the puck…so tell me, Shanny, why does Malone not have the same onus, cause it looked to me like Letang had his head down also.
Also, not our team but Crosby elbows a guy in the head SPECIFICALLY TARGETING it no less..and doesn’t even get a review.
You COULD argue (and he did) that Malone didn’t expect Campoli to reach again for the puck when it was clearly out of reach and thus didn’t expect the head to stay down. He didn’t throw his elbow, he just held it there. You COULD argue that. But why draw that kind of a line? Why not just say a headshot is illegal regardless of intent?
Go get ‘em, Lou !

Good news. Let’s see what the kid can bring to the table.
Certainly Martin will favor Darche for those top 6 minutes.
I don’t believe he is allowed to play professionally until his junior season is complete now that he has started down there.
Intentional or not he made contact with the head first. I thought he might have gotten his shoulder, but watching it in slow-mo he catches Letang’s head. This looks similar to the nasty hits that have left people out cold on the ice in the past and are the biggest thing the league is trying to get rid of, that’s why he got 3. I don’t think he deserved it, but I’m not the one making the call
