Habs opt for rest, Auld vs. Theo Sunday

HalGillBlues

Canadiens coach Jacques Martin decided that rest was more important than practice and he scrubbed a scheduled workout at the University of Minnesota today. Martin said there will be some relief for tomorrow’s game against the Minnesota Wild. Defenceman Hal Gill returns to the lineup after missing two games with the flu.

Jose Theodore is scheduled to start in goal for the Wild and he’ll be looking for his first win against his former team. He’s 0-4 against Montreal. It’s expected he’ll face Alex Auld, who made 18 of 19 saves in his relief appearance of Carey Price in New York on Friday.

Win and the habs are 1 point behind the Bruins for 3rd in the confrence.

  2. WindsorHab-10 says:

By the way, I like the new look Habs/InsideOut.

  3. WindsorHab-10 says:

JM is out of touch with reality. Price needs to be in today after being pulled Friday night. Auld should’ve started Friday. Never liked that coach and never will. Clueless.

  4. rocketsglare says:

Canadiens have a golden chance to make up ground on Boston with a win against the Wild. Hope the boys can rebound against a tired Wild team that played the previous night.

  5. HABSsince92 says:

This new layout SUCKS! I am glad that Auld is starting Sunday, hopefully the Bulldogs/Habs mixture plays a good game in front of him.

  6. Rainrocket16 says:

Who’s got the info on when Pleks and Halpern will return?

Well this is different, gonna take some getting used to

Believe it or not, HNIC has something positive to say about PK Subban.

    http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/Hockey/1249236098/ID=1848856801

The clip says that PK Subban has to play his game and it does not matter if he is a rookie. ‘Respecting’ the oponent should not matter as long as he is playing legally and helping his team. It is also a contradiction to Don Cherry’s take on the Lecavalier slash saying Vinny could have injured Subban.

I was at the Fighting Sioux game tonight and will be at the Habs game tomorrow. Kristo is being eased back into action. Even with limited use, he was responsible for much of the offence and is very slick with the puck. He makes nice passes and is always looking to score off the rush. Down low in the O zone and defensively: so so. He needs to get stronger.

  12. rocketsglare says:

Will need time getting use to. Very nice. Shows a great deal of planning and work went into redesigning and upgrading the former website. Bravo on a job well done.

  13. Rainrocket16 says:

We must get healthy!! The hell with what place we come in! Face it, we will be in 6th! Doesn’t matter! We can only be succesful if we have healthy players…

  14. Habby. says:

Were you guys Theodore fans when he was with the Habs? I became a fan of the team after watching him play. He was much better than any Leafs goalie I’d seen (I was a kid in the GTA). I owe it to him for making me a Habs fan. I hope he’s kind enough to help us out tomorrow and get us at least a point (though 2 would be better).

Also, is there anyway you guys could post links to some of things published here on Habs Inside/Out? The content isn’t exactly the same atm.

    • HABSsince92 says:

Yes I am still a big Theo fan, really a good person, has been through a lot with his family and media crap.

      • Habby says:

Yay! I’m glad to hear I’m not alone. While I felt bad for the goalie who got injured, I was happy to hear Theo got a job with the Wild. And I’m always happy to hear when he gets a star or shutout. Gotta agree with you about what he’s been through. He has a beautiful family who seem to be supporting him so I hope he’s enjoying his time in Minnesota.

    • Philly-Poo says:

Theo was good, when he was “fighting” Hackett for the number one position. In fact, I’d be curious to know know whether those guys ever posted better numbers while not in competition with each other…

    • Number31 says:

      Fan of the Habs? Yes.
Fan of Theo’s? Not really. Didn’t like his style too much but he did the job at the time.
I was a bigger fan of Hackett’s. Too bad he was pretty much nearing the end of his career then…

Danny Kristo has been a factor in both of ND’s goals as the team is tied heading into the second OT, with a goal and a helper. BTW, I am not a Kristo hater, just reporting some stats from a game I am not watching. Also, Gallagher has one assist so far tonight.

  22. kevin m says:

Are Pleks & Halpern still day to day?

    • 134 says:

They’ll have another evaluation next week and we’ll probably hear about it on either Monday or Tuesday. Both didn’t travel with the team this weekend.

  23. HardHabits says:

I have a feeling the next stats article is going to a show a significant decline in page hits.

  24. HardHabits says:

You know that one day Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Digg, and Stumble are going to merge. And that site will be everybody’s mandatory Home Page.

  25. Exit716 says:

This new design is severely lacking.

  30. Mark C says:

Halak 2 goals on 6 shots and a delay of game call. Yikes.

  31. Bill says:

    Does this thing work yet??

  32. habs001 says:

if pouliot scores only 1 or 2 more goals for the rest of the season and playoffs will he be resigned?…i think he is best suited as a 7-10 forward who can score 15-17 goals and get 35 points…i just dont see him having higher numbers with montreal…

  33. Chuck says:

I’ll look at the cup as half full. Maybe this new format will be too confusing for trolls like Jeff, Tony, etc. to figure out.

I sure hope that Ian was able to work through his sign-up and avatar problems though.

    • habs001 says:

only if they are over a certain age..as people get older they do not like any change…when new systems came in at work it was the more experienced workers that complained the most.

      • A. Berke says:

sorry to brake in to you fella but speak for yourself! (I’m 69 and been at HIO for over 4 years now, and I’m using it as you can see). The only reason I am not using my pic (avatar) simply because I don’t like the fact that gravatar crap is apparently posting my picture elsewhere where my email address shows up.
I find that strongly against privacy principles.
PS: Cut a slack to Ian will ya!

      • jennifer1984 says:

yeah im only 26 and i can tell you that i dont like this. and i dont care for change much but usually can deal. i dont like this whole only seeing two posts (newer) and what not.

i also dont like the idea of uploading my picture to another site to use here, so i guess i wont be using a picture either

    • BKAK72 says:

Oh geez Ian…that guy brings a good perspective. Damn it if he’s on the outside looking in. — HABS Inside/Out 4Life RIP—

  34. BKAK72 says:

I found tonight’s game with the BRUINS/LAFFS very telling for the “HABS” b/c you can see there’s a division of sorts on that roster. We are a tighter group of guys (well, for the most part) and that will go a long way to win a round, or two in the playoffs. BRUINS have roster issues that can’t be explained through statistics. I like our chances a lot if we draw them in 1st round.

  35. habs001 says:

wild lost today…we have to take advantage of their back to back games but for some reason we have tough games when we play a team that played the night before

  36. Rainrocket16 says:

Ahhh Finally!! Damn Gravatar, I figured your worthless butt out!! OK back to Hockey! Leafs tore em up eh!! Bruins are due for a rocky slide in the standings!!

  37. punkster says:

Damn, this is space age stuff.
I never do movie recommendations but if you’re having a tough day (like you washed a red Habs towel with your favourite white t-shirt), you need a lift (some cheap chuckles and a few outright guffaws) and are looking for an inventive (totally ripped off ;) little comedy then go see “Paul”.

  38. HIO: The ‘H’ stands for HABS!!!!

Well lets see how this works

  44. Dennis says:

Hopefully Auld can play as well as he did in New York. He surprised the heck out of me.

  45. Sportfan says:

I still feel Auld should have been given the rangers game oh well

Looks like all of the old content didn’t migrate over to here. Which sucks, ’cause I didn’t get a chance to read yesterday’s About Last Night!

  50. smiler2729 says:

Leafs suck, Bruins suck, Cherry sucks… I don’t know about this new site either. Why couldn’t they just change the name and keep the graphics??

  51. Chuck says:

Haha… Cherry calling out Phaneuf for ducking Chara then fighting Horton. What a hypocrite. *coughLuciccough*

By the way, when I try to log in to the Gravatar thingy, I’m getting this warning:

“You do not have the permissions required to access this Web site. Please contact the Web site administrator.”

Anyone have a work-around for this?

  60. christophor says:

Can’t see how long someone’s been a member?

    • Chuck says:

I don’t think that we have profiles anymore. For its faults, the old site had its own look, feel, and personality. This new setup is quite… vanilla.

  61. Rainrocket16 says:

This question is for the Editors of this grand and wonderful site, Did Bettman have anything to do with this site? I appreciate the effort in trying to make life better for us but this Gravatar stuff is rediculous and also the format of the postings, I miss the old one! Sorry!

  62. christophor says:

    hrmph

  63. shootdapuck says:

Hopefully there will be some improvement over time in this website.

With all its server issues the old site was at least functional!

  64. Stavraitos says:

Been reading here for a while, so the new scheme is going to be a bit odd to get used to, but all in all, I think it’s pretty cool. I’m just curious why the whole scheme had to change just because of the name :P

  65. Off-side says:

Totally LOVE the new site! Thank you Molson, for the inspiration.

  66. EricMelvin says:

Mike Milbury calling out wee-man Bettman! Woo hoo!

  67. twilighthours says:

    Is this a WordPress product?

Yeah, it doesn’t have the same feel. I hope we all get used to it. I went thru the Gravitar process so I could still feel a bit like my old Habs I/O self.

The worst part is now we’ve lost the ability to see who the original crew (and newbies) are – I loved it that my profile said “member for 3 years and 2 months” where Tony’s latest profile said “member for 6 hours”

  68. Mark C says:

This Leafs-Bruins game is great fun, once you get over the fact that the Leafs are winning. Anyway, Thomas had a poor night like Price last night. Rask just showed up his D for their screen on him, something that many blamed Price for doing last season.

  69. EricMelvin says:

What a weird feeling, for the first time in my life I hate the Bruins more than the Leafs. I can tell because it doesn’t bother me that TO is kicking someone’s a$$. Still hate HNIC though.

  70. jimmy shaker says:

Good call with auld, let carey regroup for the sabres and cubs coming up tuesday and thursday! Now if only JM will use all 4 lines and not bench anyone for taking bad penalties. (pouliot) what about gomez who basically makes a bad play in his zone every shift, or cammy that floated all night yesterday, or hammer who yes i understand played 30 minutes vs t-bay the night before and he’s 37 years old, but he still sucked like i’ve never seen him suck before last night…..but JM will only bench the small guys because he’s a huge jabroni……anyway’s go leafs!

    Shaker

  71. Rob says:

Dear HIO….there has obviously been some dissatisfaction with the new site, and understandably, change often causes this type of reaction. However, can we all agree that if the changes cause a poster with the status and importance to the site that Ian Cobb has, to leave the site then perhaps we may have gone too far? I have been a member of this site since the very beginning and I’m quite comfortable with superficial changes. But, though i do not know the man at all, I understand the importance of the contributions Ian Cobb makes to this site. And of all the posters here, I feel he is one of a select few who’s importance and opinions need to hold more weight when it comes to feedback on how things are run.

I beg the good people of HIO to take this into account and make the necessary changes required to ensure we do not lose any of the great contributors to this site
